The truth about the 2006 Seatle Playoff Game

Everyone remembers Romo droping the ball at the end. The the truth is Roy Williams was owned by Jeremy Stevens that game. Statistics do not lie. Jeremy Stevens had statisticly the best game of his career in the 2006 playoff game. Seatle game plan was to match Jeremy against Roy in passing situations and it worked. Jeremy had 77 yards and 2 touchdowns.

This was an original, exciting, and downright thought provoking post! Can't wait for your next one!!!

The ultimate reason we lost that game was terrible coaching and play-calling. When you have the opposing teams' secondary demolished with injuries and we continuosly run the ball - there is a fundamental problem there - a problem that I am VERY comfortable that we have fixed via Garrett.

If all was fixed, why did you lose at home against the giants last season?

cause we gave goof ball Wade now.

i dont know if wade is a goof ball, but jerry is back in charge..the players know this and wade's voice will not be taken very seriously by your players..last season i dont know if you could have a better regular season and be set up perfectly in the postseason and choke at home against a team you beat already..your cowboys havent won a playoff game in 11 years, who would have thought that would happen? 11 years and counting!!!!

I think if we bash Roy enough, and rehash the Seattle game enough, we must just win the thing.

:bang2:

that game was lost when the gameplan didn't take advantage of their depleted secondary

You know I could see a Pat's fan or God forbid an Eagle's fan coming over here and talking trash... And I'd have to grudgingly give them their due.

But it's certainly not like the Skins have done squat in a long, long time either. Yeah, they might have won a playoff game-- but let's be real, the dwarf you call an owner, hasn't exactly made the Skin's franchise the envy of the NFL lately either.

Come on Mikey The Skins were the wild card champions a couple years ago!!!:laugh2:

There is no doubt in my mind that if the field-goal was made successfully that the Seahawks would have still won. I had no confidence in that defense being able to keep them out of field goal range-- none.

Parcells would have been better served going for it on 4th down and inches.
That's the ultimate reason we lost the game. We couldn't stop them after the botched snap, we allowed them to easily make a 1st down backed up in their own zone.

We lost that game because we ran plays that kept their linebackers in the play, which was one of their strengths, instead of attacking their decimated secondary. We were simply out-coached. Stupid, stubborn Bill Parcells lost that game for us.

Wow...obviously you did not watch the game that this thread speaks of. Parcells coached the team into a position to win that game outright with a young QB starting his first ever playoff game on the road...who had just played like the second coming of Jason Campbell at home against the Lions. We weren't gonna go out there and light up the scoreboard against that secondary. Like the Buffalo game this year, Romo can be dicey at times and it's definitely not worth the risk in a playoff game to test limits. We stretched the field and had a solid running game going with a terrible back in Julius Jones. You act like we went to Seattle and got killed or something. There's no way people can blame a botched snap on a chip shot field goal on Parcells. Obviously some things could've been done better, but it goes that way for both teams' coaching. Heck, even Coughlin probably could've done a couple things better in the Super Bowl win. In the end, our coaching and gameplan was good enough to win the game and Romo botched it. Playoff games are mostly going to come down to a few big plays and our guys did not execute when it counted the most.

Parcells haters are ridiculous. He turned the franchise from 15-33 to a consistent playoff team. Go find something else to complain about if you choose to just be negative in life.

don't forget the atrocious call to give them a safety and the overturn on no real evidence which made it fourth down instead of a first down on the catch by Witten at the end of the game.

Yes I have posted about Roy several times. Roy has said he is rededicating himself to football. For him to say that means that he was not dedicated enough for football. I am passionate about the cowboys and I know that the fans here are too. It just irritates me for a player that is getting paid millions of dollars they have to rededicated themselves to football.

So naturally, you just HAD to turn into a one trick pony...

This coming from a fan of a team that is dominated by a meddlesome owner who makes Jerry look like a model of efficiency...

It'll be fun how seriously the Skins players take Zorn's "voice"... a guy who has never even been an offensive coordinator, let alone a head coach...

I'll certainly take OUR head coach, and OUR owner, over YOURS...

What a contributory post this was. And what happened to you last year? And every year since your last SB which was when?

If you want to come here and post intelligently please do so. We enjoy most of the Skin's posters here. If you're going to post dribble about Jerry's habits and our last post-season win in a thread about RW, then you're worst than worseless.

You don't know what the hell you're talking about. 1. No where did I blame the botched snap on Parcells. 2. I have REPEATEDLY given Parcells credit for helping to build this team in a myriad of other threads. 3. Criticism of a specific gameplan does not mean a person "chooses to be negative in life". If that were the case, then you must have a really negative outlook on life because of your personal criticism of me.

I maintain that we did not take advantage of their decimated secondary the way we should have. The game should never have come down to a field goal try if we had consistently challenged their weakness.

Yes, Romo had a bad game against detroit. Do you let that overshadow the really good games he had before that one and dictate the game plan in the next game when the opponent is playing a CB who was out of the league a two weeks beforehand?

Finally there is no guarantee that the defense could keep the Seahawks from moving down the field and kicking a FG even if Romo had not botched it, as you put it. The defense certainly did not stop them after the botched FG to give us another try at it, did they?

If you liked Parcells coaching style and game plans which tended to result in very close games more often than not, then fine. But when you have an opponent with a glaring weakness you should take every advantage you can of that weakness, if you want to win.

You can have the last word on this because I have to get on an airplane for a long trip back home.

You have the highest spending owner in the NFL and he has never bought you a Championship. I'd be bitter too.
