Maybe B Williams will bring some much needed depth to the OLB position. But yes, we have quite a few of the pieces in place. But we need more at LB, IMO, and more at Safety.

Plus, I really think we need a better reserve behind Ratliff.

On offense, I still think one more WR who can stretch the field would help.

We'll also probably need at LT, unless it's Free.

We have pretty good talent, but it's not as good as several other teams.

And I don't think Wade is a top HC.

I guess it really depends how much JJ wants to do this off-season.

I think that WR might already be on the team in Ogletree - this offensive staff is not quick to incorporate non-veteran players so it is hard to say whether someone really isn't ready to contribute.

On the OL, I think Free might be good enough to play LT and we can move Bigg to RT and then we need to find another RG. Regardless, the OL in its current construction and coaching isn't good enough at run blocking or blitz pickup and has to be upgraded.

Defensively, we need to upgrade ILB and need one more pass rusher either at DE or ILB.

At safety, I'm not sure. I don't think it is the biggest problem we have. I like what I have seen from Ball and Sensabaugh but Sensabaugh can be beat by top notch TEs. It has almost come to the point that safeties need to be converted CBs given the pressure they are put under by moder passing games.

Wade will be gone - that's obvious. And as for the person who said hello 9-7, try hello 8-8. Doubtful we can win another game - even against the Skins. That will be their Superbowl in a fortnight after we get beat by the Saints 48-21 or whatever.

We need help in the backend of our D - Newman just gets abused far too often so another corner has to be a priority and we need a new free safety. O Line depth is obviously a must and I'd like to see more depth at the linebacker position and even on the D Line - outside Rat we've been mediocre on the D Line for way too long.

That's on the field - I'm trying to be pragmatic here so I won't call for Jerry to remove himself as GM, because it will never ever happen, so why worry about it? We all know the Cowboys are his personal toy and his ego is bigger than Cowboys Stadium, and he'll never remove himself from getting involved in the football side of the operation, no matter if it's both the right and sensible thing to do.

I just hope whoever the next head coach is won't be the absolute puppet Wade has been ever since he got here - but I don't hold out that much hope for that.

Sad day today - yet again.

At this stage, I'll settle for a new coaching staff.

There is a reason he's never won a playoff game.

And there is a reason these players fold every December.

Its not the entire team, its a select few that we've severely overrated and overpaid. Particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

Everyone wants to talk **** about Garrett, but the defense never makes any plays. By making plays I mean, forcing fumbles, intercepting passes, creating havoc, and making the offense adjust. This defense is just as vanilla as Bill Parcells version.

Only difference, Bill Parcells took us much furthur with much less 'talent'.

This is true. I thought we we were getting a more imaginitive defensive scheme and we got pre-season vanilla. I wonder if we are too dumb to run anything exotic. Remember back in the Tampa Bay game? Wade tried to run blitz and our LBs kept messing it up and then Bradie James says " just run the basic stuff and we'll win". Yeah right Bradie. against Tampa Bay you will but when you play the better teams in the league they usually shred us.

Well I definitely didn't believe that, but as I said in the game chat. This has nothing to do with December.

We have played like this all year, we just happen to be playing good teams now.
This is true. And we're going to play another hot team in the Saints, Eagles and the Commanders always play the cowboys tough.

We have a slooooooooooooow defense, except at CB.

Need to get more speed at ILB, that's for sure. We need to create more consistent pressure. Need more speed (and playmakers) at S.

I'm not sure anything gets fixed. Parcells couldn't fix it. Wade can't. Its the players. Not sure what to do and who all needs to go. But we've had two different style of coaches and the same crap results. This is ENTIRELY on the players and their inability to execute as the season wears on.

Improvements needed;

  • More 3D visual effects.
  • More Ford Truck tie-in opportunities.
  • One more kicker on the roster.
  • More glitter stuff on the cheerleaders.
  • More ways to get Pappa Johns Pizza on the sidelines next to the Gatorade.
  • Better BBQ
  • VIP shuttle parking for $75 each way.
These are the things on Jerry's mind...he doesnt have time to coach the team up properly.

the problems at Oline start at C

Gurode is stupid

Maybe so, but you would think we could just find a smart guard to make the calls because it is hard to find someone who can block as well as Gurode at the position.

Anyhow, it is not just Gurode - it may be the whole OL that is stupid (definite posiibility) or the OL coach can't get through to them (also possible). The whole thing may need to be re-invented under a new OL coach.

Our talent is severely overrated by many (fans and analysts) on both sides of the ball.

Fair enough, but not all of it is execution. Brookings is just too slow to cover most backs out of the backfield (ditto for James). Sensabaugh also isn't good enough to cover the Gates of the league so that is not an execution issue either.

I do think we need to upgrade both ILB spots. Since Spencer isn't a great pass rusher, hopefully one of the ILBs will be as neither of the DEs get us much push (but both are good against the run).

This is true because we have some great strengths (Ware, Jenkins, Romo, Austin, Fellix) but we also have some horrible weaknesses (OL cohesion/intelligence, play calling on offense, ILB speed) that better teams exploit to beat us.

Yeah our overall team speed defensively is poor. At ILB we're really slow and not athletic. Spencer is a solid all-around LB but we need somebody other than Ware to sack the QB. Ratliff is too easy to double-team inside. We REALLY miss Ellis' ability to get to the QB, much moreso than the much hyped Terrell Owens.

Here's my suggestions

Trade or cut Newman....this guy flat out sucks!

Get a decent backup NT...it's clear Ratliff is worn down.

We need LB's, Oline help

New coaches with the exception of Decamillias

A good team Psychologist

And a freaking owner that doesn't think about marketing 24/7. Giving the 3D glasses out at halftime!~!!!! The stupid crowd sucks! We needed them in the 3rd. They were too busy worried about the cool big screen and spilling cavier on there pants!!!

Forget about the Billion dollar stadium Jerry...go buy us a billion dollar team!!!!!!!

So we've been through this before, I don't think anyone is surprised. Clearly changes will be made, so people don't flip out (like that's an option), but what would you actually like to see done to fix this team?

I know we've got three games left, so anything is possible, but there is quite clearly a problem here.

I like lists.

  • Offensive Coordinator: I watched in amazement as Romo led the Cowboys down the field, calling plays without a huddle to a score there at the end against the Chargers' press coverage. In a whole week's worth of preparation, Jason Garrett was seemingly unable to put together a gameplan to score points, but Romo was able to drive right down for a score on his own? This makes two weeks in a row, as he did it against the Giants last week as well.
  • Offensive Line: It's quite apparent the offensive line is aging...we need to look either at expiring contracts of first-contract players in free agency or look to the draft for the future at Left Tackle as well as the rest of the offensive line.
  • Coaching/Running Game: Felix Jones rips the San Diego defense from about the 10 yard line all the way to the red zone, and what do our coaches do? Put Barber in. Pathetic.
  • Goal to Go from the 1. 4 straight running plays to the same spot on the line. I'm not saying we should throw fades or anything, but at a minimum at least run to the left once. Just once! Shawn Merriman is banged up! Run at him!

This is true but Ellis was slow-acting lockerroom poison. You have to get rid of those malcontents if you want to build a contender.

Felix is never given a chance to get in a rhythm. As soon as he gets something going, he is pulled from the game. In the end, he only got 10 carries which just isn't enough. I know the FO thinks he is fragile but I really don't see him taking all that much abuse out there. I think he could be a 20 carry'game player with his running style.

Garrett took Romo out of rhythm by not using him at all through much of the second quarter. I really don't mind running it every down but you should be able to play-action pass off of that to pick up some big chunks of yardage and shorten the field. That is what we did on the 3rd quarter TD that we scored. We are meant to be a team in balance - power running, vertical offense. Neither works without the other.
