Fire Wade and hire a young head coach NOT named Garrett.

Yes, it is painful but I do think that is one of the things we need to do. The team as it is currently made up is not good enough to win a SB and the FO of this team is repeatedly outcoached against upper echelon teams.

Well, I have to honestly say that I was hoping we'd ditch Wade after last season, but JJ wanted that continuity.

I can understand why JJ wanted the continuity. No one wants a knee jerk reaction to keep switching HC.

That said, I thought there were coaches actually available this season who were much more accomplished than Wade.

I like our FA acquisitions all in all that we made this year. But I don't think the talent on this team is as good as teams like Minn, SD, etc even with the acquisitions.

I think Jerry just wants to stay with the 3-4 in terms of continuity. There are enough good pieces in place for that scheme - we just need to get one better pass rusher either at DE or ILB and we need Spencer to start finishing off plays when he gets a chance.

The coaching sucks, and the players are sloppy.

I'm tired of being fooled. This team is over. This season is over.

They can prove me wrong and others who think the same way, but I am now almost certain they will not.

Outside of a few players on the team, they are a bunch of losers.

seriously

Romo, Austin, Witten and Felix

how is it that our offense sucks???

Our offense doesn't suck in terms of the players we have at skill positions although Cowboys fans tend to overrate Barber and RW who I view as no better than average players at their positions.

Our offense needs to improve OL blitz pickup, penalties and needs more quickness at the WR position to take advantage of teams that want to play press/man coverage against us.

Yes, I would agree with most of that assessment. That is why we can't beat good teams but almost always beat average to poor teams.

The sloppyness is something I just can't get my head around. It's been with us before Wade and before Parcells. I just don't get it.

I'm tired of the excuses... I said in the other thread, Dallas needs to blow the team up and get rid of most of the coaching staff! Wade and Garrett MUST go!

Maybe B Williams will bring some much needed depth to the OLB position. But yes, we have quite a few of the pieces in place. But we need more at LB, IMO, and more at Safety.

Plus, I really think we need a better reserve behind Ratliff.

On offense, I still think one more WR who can stretch the field would help.

We'll also probably need at LT, unless it's Free.

We have pretty good talent, but it's not as good as several other teams.

And I don't think Wade is a top HC.

I guess it really depends how much JJ wants to do this off-season.

I have to agree.

We beat the teams we were generally supposed to beat this year.

We have trouble beating elite teams.

We need a couple more players, IMO.

But I also think we can upgrade Wade.

100%
right

And who may I ask would run the defense?

Does it matter? We'd be playing for a draft pick at that point.

we need to continue to build up the secondary

speed at ILB

Bradie James and Brooking are solid, team leaders, but they are sloooow and it's hurting in December

Garrett needs to re-evaluate how he calls games, I think the talent on O is just fine, it's just not being used properly and that's affecting their execution

Absolutely, we are abused in underneath zones because our ILBs are not quick enough to keep up with TEs and RBs. This spot needs to be seriously upgraded. I don't think James or Brookings are good enough to be anything more than stopgaps in a 3-4 scheme.

I don't know what the staff thinks of guys like Jason Williams or the Hodge kid. We need to spend one high draft pick on an ILB and start him next year. It is a shame that we didn't really hit on either Burnett or Carpenter.

Why is it clear that changes will be made? Changes weren't made after 44-6 last year.
That is Sooooooo true!!! The desperate changes that need to be made aren't obvious to this organization. The change that really needs to be made WILL NOT happen barring an untimely demise. Jerry Jones will still be there :-(
So, working with THAT handicap, i foresee a minimum 2 yr. overhaul. Entire coaching staff needs to go. Not only wade, but Garrett also.
The Cowboys are a heartless, pathetic team that has become the joke of the NFL. Softness personified. Poor tackling, a timid slow and clueless secondary (for 6 yrs +) and an offense with stupid play calling (jason) and a overrated QB!
An example of their ncaa mentality (not nfl) is when they tied the game with SD! With all their "whooping it up" you'd thought the game was over!! All that excitement from ONE TOUCHDOWN??? One T.D. in the 3rd quarter???

Really, Get Wade the F--- outta here! And dont dare try to pass off that IDIOT Garrett as the next coach. When Dallas' season is over, two days later, i want those clowns to be unemployed.

Fans, a complete regime change is the ONLY hope.

The problem with me is I've always hoped something was different. That things might change. And that is what pisses me of the most. I'm tired of getting fooled. Enough is enough, at least with putting my faith in them and any remaining emotion I have until things change.

in all phases of the game, there have been some really positive developments this season, and some really negative ones. off the top of my head:

offense: positives

miles austin, obviously.
romo's maturation process.
owens is gone.
garrett has some really cool plays.

offense: negatives

barber is not an impact player anymore. he's an average back who's taking carries away from felix jones and tashard choice.
martellus bennett has not made an impact -- but then again, he hasn't been targeted very often, either.
roy williams has made about as much of an impact as crayton used to. that's not enough. too many bad routes and dropped passes.
garrett has some really weird play calls.
the offensive line is inconsistent. one play it blows defenders off the line of scrimmage, the next it can't stop anyone. it seems to get weaker near the goal line, and not just today.

defense: positives

spencer hasn't gotten sacks, but he has been productive and disruptive.
brooking. enough said.
sensabaugh has been a big improvement over you-know-who.
mike jenkins has played pretty darn well, overall.
generally, the defense is tough and keeps the team in the game.

defense: negatives

can't seem to rush the passer anymore. always a step late.
can't make a big stop when the game is on the line.

special teams: positives

coverage is much improved.
beuhler is a stud.

special teams: negatives

nick folk has turned into mike vanderjagt.

...so, what an up-and-down year. i think the team is DECENT, it's just still not yet a playoff-winning team. i DON'T think it's about talent, really, but about focus and fire. way too many times, this season and over the past few seasons, the team has just come out flat or come up short. that's an underachieving team. that's not about scheme or talent, it's about heart and the preparation you get from your coaches.

so, yes, i think wade's option will not be picked up. i don't assume that garrett will take over, though, as his performance has also been shaky. i mean, his offense is racking up YARDS but they are not translating into POINTS like they should. so if a new coach is brought in, he may bring in a bunch of coordinators, too.

i think carpenter will finally be gone, as long as the linebackers drafted this past april are healthy and show at least a little something. i'm not sure about guys like spears and hatcher, though. yeah, i know they do the "dirty work," but they just seem so... AVERAGE.

i hope that jones and choice get more touches, along with bennett and maybe even ogletree. roy williams seems to be doing enough to stay, but who knows if he'll ever be a bigger playmaker?

and i hope that some help is brought in for the offensive line. we need some more hope for the future there.

but MOST OF ALL, the team really, really needs more guys who will get in someone's face and DEMAND more results.

Our secondary got abused on 3rd down all day.

Ten points not accounted for also doesn't help.

That right there is exactly what went wrong today. You can blame Wade, Garrett and the offense but if your defense cannot get off the field on 3rd downs, its going to make one HECK of a long day.

Our secondary was terrible today.

You also need to give Rivers major props though, he was throwing the long ball beautiful today.

Newman makes me cry. The guy can do some good things but more often than not I see him constantly chasing his man.

Sensy didn't cover well today either.

So we've been through this before, I don't think anyone is surprised. Clearly changes will be made, so people don't flip out (like that's an option), but what would you actually like to see done to fix this team?

I know we've got three games left, so anything is possible, but there is quite clearly a problem here.

but what needs to be fixed because the core of our guys were here when bill was....its not just a coaching change...its more than that...its a revamping of the oline...its a culture change thats not going to happen from above because from above is where the problem lies...its not getting a new qb....we have the runningbacks too....we need a new LT..a new center....another receiver....we need to run choice more....keep barber healthy until the end of the season...we need another passrusher...we need to let spears go....we need to let hamlin go...we need another corner....

They have been bad on 3rd down all year, this is not news to anyone that has been paying attention. When we were picking up wins against crap teams, some people were quite pleased with themselves but the truth is we are playing now the way we've played the entire season.

Honestly, I think it has to do with the image Jerry has created for the team. We are still America's Team, but for the WRONG reasons. When we had Roger under center, we were truly America's Team because we were the underdog and just loved to play the game. Then, when Jerry took over, he was more concerned with the image of the Cowboys rather than winning. Now, we aren't considered a tough, hard-nosed football team anymore. We're now the pretty boys of the NFL. Jerry builds us up, the players can't handle all the hype and all, and we fail. It's that simple.
