The Umpteenth Roy Williams Gripe Thread **Merge | Deion Apology Audio Post #589**

Did we even attempt one slant to him? That seems to be a route that he can handle. Anyway, there goes the little bit of momentum he was putting together. One step forward...

Or maybe the Cowboys just faced 2 pretty good defenses the last couple of weeks?

You guys don't honestly believe would could have scored at will on the Commanders Defense if only Roy Williams contributed a little more?

The Cowboys are 7-3 and even though they have some problems, just like every team in the NFL, they are still a very good team.

I'm telling you guys right now, the New Orleans game is going to be a lot more competitive then you think.

Roy needs to wear paper bag over his head when he plays.

Tony was/has been off lately but in saying that every pass is not going to be perfect and look around the other games, most of the good teams #1 makes most of those catches.

Roy is 6'3 or 6'4. So Roy jumps up fully extended and the ball hits his finger tips. How many WR even can get their hands on the ball??? Moss? Fitzgerld? Come on! I am not defending any one player. I just call it like I see it.

Romo was WAY off today.

Not Roy related but,

The most gratifying thing about that final scoring drive, besides the obvious was Austin beating hall repeatedly.

Hall was talking trash after every play with austin. He is one arrogant rick with a P. I wouldnt want that guy on my team in a million years. At one point after austin's first catch austin signaled first down and hall grabbed austins jersey and shoved him.....

Watching midget snyder standing at the 50 today and looking all around at the stadium and the videoboard and then losing that way was so great.

If their defense though they do have a solid secondary. Damn good. Probably the best the Cowboys have faced this season IMO. It would have to be between Packers and Bronco's.

Agreed. Everyone wants Roy to be Fitzgerald and let me say i've seen Larry play this season and he hasn't made any of those spectacular catches he made last season. Its not easy.

I agree. Especially on the Saints point. I like our chances at stopping their running game.

Maybe Miles needs to get open.

And Roy, Crayton, Hurd, Bennett, Witten, and even the RBs. Romo is forced to throw into coverage every time, and usually double coverage.

if the pass is in the same stadium Roy Williams should catch it.

I know I had said earlier in the week that he was going to have a coming out party, but today he was just bad. I know those throws were alittle high but he has to catch at least one of those. On top of that he just looked like his legs were tired today. last week he had alot more burst . It might be something with Roy williams leg's because he just looked slow and sloppy in his route running.

Roy Williams has horrible feet and change of direction skills - that is not his game and that is why he gets so little separation in man coverage. He just is never going to be that type of player so there is no point in getting him to run such routes - this causes DBs to only respect a couple of moves and they can jump routes.

He is only going to be an average #2 type WR - that is the level of production that can be expected. I would generally think an average game for him would be 3 catches and 40 yards.

He's a great blocker though. :D Just messing with ya Hos. ;)

I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt this whole time but today's game really makes me very angry with him. I'll give you that it takes a while to get on the same page as a QB, and there are tons of factors on things not clicking, and the passes that went his way weren't as on target as you'd like, but seriously he had his hands on 3 passes today and if you're seriously a #1 WR, and a supposed star, then you've got to catch those balls. I'm sick of seeing him drop balls, even if they're not perfect, that he should be hauling in.

The final drive, when we had to win, tells you exactly who Romo believes is his #1 WR. He hit Miles 3 times on that final drive. Austin is clearly his number one WR and Garrett now has to find a way to get Miles involved a lot more through the games, instead of in the final quarter like the last two games.

If Roy has to make those catches, then Tony needs to do a better job throwing the ball. A few of those passes were just off target and we used to crucify past QB's for not being accurate. Roy needed to make those catches but Tony needs to do a better job at not making routine throws harder than they need to be.

...Romo was off a lot today but the "feel factor" does'nt play in Roy's favor...he looks like he's made of glass right now...he does'nt look confident...maybe he's still concerned about his rib-cage when he goes over the middle...

...they've got to get this guy contributing on a consistent basis...i don't know how they improve on offense without him...as much as we berate his bad play Dallas is stuck with him now for better or worse...i just keep thinking that he learned some bad habits, both mental and physical, while with the Lions...it seems they've followed him to Dallas...i would prefer that the team would'nt have to absorb another veteran WR contract from lack of production...i'm beginning to think that Jones did'nt do his homework with the trade but such is eternal optimism...when you don't anticipate the downside beforehand you suffer the consequences afterward...

Someone caught a 98 yard bomb today (making that his longest pass from scrimmage ever). I just thought I would add that to this illustrious thread. I won't mention any names. His team lost though so, in essence, he sucks.

When Romo says Crayton has a "nice feel" for the game he is really saying "The RW experiment should be over yesterday".

I think there is plenty of blame to go around. I've seen bad throws, but I've also seen Roy not go all out. Miles has disappeared the last 3 weeks except for a couple of plays.

With Roy, I think Roy is still hurting from the ribs and his head isn't right.

Romo may have been off, but early in the game he was hurt. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Maybe Garrett needs to change the offense to work with the fact that Romo is one of most blizted QB in the league.

All I want to know is.. Did anyone see what RW11 did late in the game when Miles caught that crucial pass? RW didn't even break the LOS....

loafer

First of all, I am a Romo fan. IMO when Romo is getting pressured or if he feels he is under pressure, he misses on a lot of his passes. I believel that if Romo had a offensive-line that could give him more time, then he would be more accurate and throw fewer ints. Romo just makes bad throws and decisions when he thinks there is pressure.
The Cowboys also do not have the WRs to compete with the good defensive teams. We need to get some possession type WRs to help Romo out. The majority of receivers wouldn't know a good pass route if they saw it on film, much less run them. A lot of our receivers are just plain scared to run a route over the middle.
The other problem I have with the team, is that our coaches do not know how to make good adjustments during the game or at half time.

I thought we did when we went out and mortgaged the future on RW11.
