Cassell was given every singe advantage over Weeden to produce including:

Better Running Game
Better Defense
Better starting position
Easier Opponents
Better Receivers

....And there was zero improvement from what Weeden produced with far, far less.

Weeden would have helped the Cowboys to win that game. It may not have been big plays, but it would have been efficient and effective.

Weeden sucks. Always has, always will. That sack of dog poop shouldn't even be in the NFL.

The change needed to be made, period. We'd be 2-7 even if the change wasn't made.

So Weeden, who won't throw downfield (as Cassell), would have been better moving the ball vs Seattles d and their secondary? Right. Weeden had 189 yds, zero tds (on 39 pass attempts) vs a decent but not great New England d. Seattles d isn't New Englands.

People are kind of avoiding the point of this thread for some reason.

You see all of those plays where Cassel had enough sense to run for first downs? Okay those are all either sacks or incomplete passes. If you watch the games you can atleast tell Cassel has confidence. In reality he's not much better than Weeden if it at all but atleast he believes he can win. Weeden doesn't have any confidence himself.

What is the point? People really believe Weeden would've had success against the Seahawks? One of the best defenses in the league? Or is the point that Cassel has been as bad as Weeden. We all know this. Except atleast Cassel has the excuse of just learning the system. Weeden had NOTHING. He's been in it and has had plenty of time to develop chemistry with players and still nothing.

Weeden hasn't won a game in NEARLY three seasons.

Joke is on Jerry for believing in this bum.

You're basically conceding the season by having this scrub at backup quarterback. Not only that had to trade a fifth rounder for another bum quarterback.

I never wanna see Brandon Weeden under center for Dallas again. He sucks. He cannot do anything well. At least Cassel is mobile. Not much, but still more than Weeden.

I just cannot believe the sheer arrogance and flat out stupidity with thinking this bum when we saw what he was last year. We haven't drafted a quarterback in the draft since 2009 I believe. That has got to change unless we want another Troy Aikman situation.

Just so many stupid mistakes in one offseason. Keeping WeBum, bringing back

Why bother to do anything else against Dallas, but run defense and guard Dez Bryant?

This is current team direction prior to the upcoming Philadelphia home game:

...The Cowboys were ripped for 141 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in the third week of the season by Atlanta's Devonta Freeman. But Murray won't see the same front seven that Freeman saw. Since the Atlanta game, defensive end Greg Hardy and middle linebacker Rolando McClain have returned from NFL suspensions and defensive end Randy Gregory is back from the injured list.

And yards on the ground against the Cowboys have become much tougher to come by. Seattle's Marshawn Lynch managed only 71 yards on 21 carries last weekend. LeGarrette Blount gained 74 yards on 13 carries for the Patriots and Mark Ingram 77 yards on 17 carries for the Saints.

The defense is carrying the 2-5 Cowboys right now. It ranks eighth in the NFL and needs to be stout, because with Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo missing at least the next two games, points are going to be difficult to come by. That means shutting down Murray -- something AT&T Stadium did on its own at the end of last season.

Yeah, that's fair.

Actually, most of it is inaccurate.

Weeden and Romo have almost exactly the same yardage per attempt this season, 7.0 yards and 7.2 yards respectively. The league average is 6.7 yards. Cassel has 4.0 yards.

When it comes to yards per catch Weeden has 10.4 yards, Romo 10.2 and Cassel 10.8. Glaring difference, right? All that "throwing down the field"?

Weeden was the starter for the Cleveland Browns Day #1 his rookie year in 2012. He was 5-15 as a starter. .The Browns were 4-8 the rest of the games those two seasons.

Troy Aikman was 3-17 in his first 20 starts. He had an 11 game losing streak.

Cassel didn't start a game until his 4th season and it was with a team that went undefeated during it's previous regular season. So yeah....real fair.

40 quarterbacks have thrown 50 or more passes this season. Tony Romo is ranked 20th in adjusted yards per catch. (pass yards + 20*(pass TD) - 45*(interceptions thrown))/(passing attempts). Weeden is ranked 21st. Cassel is dead last.

Weeden's QB rating is better than half the starters in this league, including Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, Sam Bradford, Joe Flaco, and Peyton Manning. Cassel is dead last.

Saying that "Weeden sucks" contributes absolutely nothing to this conversation because it is an opinion based on nothing measurable or relevant to the circumstances.

Weeden could produced the same results as Cassel with little to no assistance from his team and against teams where two of the three were undefeated at the time.

If Weeden started the last two games with all the additional help that Cassel received in the way of a running game, defense, and Dez Bryant on the field, the Cowboys would be sitting at 4-3.

And one more thing.....Starting Cassel had all the markings of a Jerry Jones decision. Jason Garrett would never imply this, he is a team player but I just can;'t see the former QB making that type of decision.

As bad as Weeded was, imagine he only had 2 weeks to learn the offense like Cassel. The fact is, we don't have a legit QB period.

The offense is vanilla and predictable anyway, not sure why Casual would struggle to have it down in those two weeks..

I don't care which backup sucks worse. On one of the podcasts they were asking which backup QB you'd rather play from here on - that's like asking if you'd rather eat cat **** or dog ****. Either way you have **** breath and brown teeth.

Would we have hypothetically won with Weeden in the last 2 or Cassel in the first 3? Don't know, don't care, we lost all 5 and that's what matters.
