I've had my CX for a couple of weeks. Older movies, even the 4k version, really suck. I tried to watch Starship Troopers and the original Total Recall from the 4k blu ray, and they are both really grainy. It wasn't noticable on my old LCD TV. Newer movies look amazing though.

I have a samsung and older movies look awesome!!! I watched a couple of 80s films and my favorite sitcoms family matters and living single on them and they look smooth like 1440p smooth no grainy visual.....the 4k movies (besides dc movies, they look flat out bad on anything and worse in 4k) look amazing! Its almost like the characters glide on screen

Interesting. I have a bottom of the line Samsung 4K (we're talking $350 out the door lol) in my mancave and I noticed it can have that grainy effect with some 4K movies. I bought the Back to the Future trilogy in 4K and it looked grainy on my Samsung. I will have to see what it looks like with the LG.

Initially impression with the LG are good. Tried Forza Horizon 4 and Cold War on it and they look very good and buttery smooth. Then I popped in IT 4K movie and it looks really sharp.

Cyberbob, what's up with the free channels that appeared on this TV? lol

Some people like the grain in older movies. Since you don't you will probably need to go into the menu and turn off advanced features like noise reduction (also mpeg noise reduction and smooth gradation) and turn your sharpness settings down. And if you have brightness real high (stock settings) you might need to turn that down. You may need to check each one to see if you prefer them on or off.

Lol on the free channels, that channel 100 movie channel does throw me for a loop when I turn off my system but the TV is turned back on for whatever reason. Scared the new drawers off me  But yeah these free Samsung channels had a taste of nostalgia from the TV hotel cable vibe to it (all the channels you don't want, and none of the ones you would like lol)

Right there with you, the last half felt forced, the last bit where she goes after her the final time was just overkill; was pretty tuned out by then tbh and was waiting for the game to end. You already got whooped, and now after finding a peaceful life, you're all about petty revenge again...even after basically agreeing with that enemies reasoning, she still can't let it go even after finding out what Joel did.

Didn't really make any sense outside you got one of mine, I'm going to get one of yours mentality; with all the "mature" topics this seemed hollow, is Ellie riding for her bros to even the score, lol I mean come on.

I just finished it. It definitely started to just drag. And the end did seem tacked on. I would have been fine with the last bit if the Abby part had just been short, with maybe a few sections in Seattle, and some flashbacks. All the stuff with the sisters and Scars and all that could have been left out and saved about 10 hours.

Really all the Scars stuff seems wasted. Never did expand on their big leader or what they were really about or anything.

thats why I couldn’t give it a 10/10 and i LOVED the game but when my screen said “Seattle day 3” I dropped my controller and said “theres more? How much more Abby is there?!”

it made me take a two day break thats why i gave it a 9/10 instead of a 10/10

It's all off. I've tried various settings. The grain/static like movement is also really noticable on The Sopranos, which we were in the middle of re-watching when I got the TV.

Here's a video I made:
You can't notice is that well when I zoom out, but the entire image is like that.

@SlammedZero they're just crappy internet channels. Plex has some similar ones.

Alright gents! I gave in. Just ordered a LG CX OLED TV. It was weird, when I was looking earlier my local Best Buy, they didn't have any in stock. Said I could get one by Wed. So when I finally decided to do it, I added it to my cart and it said there was one in stock. So, I'll be picking it up later this afternoon.
I think you might like it. :flagwave:

It's hard to say what your definition of grainy is. I watch plenty of 90s movies and shows on my C9 and they look good or as I remember them. Many havent even been upscaled or remastered. When I get home later this afternoon i can post my settings. I do have most enhancements turned off.

Follow this, not sure how familiar you are with tv settings in general. For whatever reason most tvs out of the box have this ridiculous soap opera/motion blur setting enabled. The cx is probably one of the few TVs that are almost set perfectly out of the box.

If you play on any console make sure the input is set to game mode (found in picture setting) with deep color (found in general settings).

Also, whenever you play a game in HDR you'll want to adjust picture settings again (game mode hdr) as they are different than non hdr game mode settings. Like previously stated the colors are mostly on point, just need to adjust enhancements like motion blur and other settings in there.

Skyrim is almost ten years old and i've got it looking fantastic.

Modders are incredible, the amount of enjoyment that guys have provided me through the years with their mods can't be overstated.

Some really talented people out there.
Just found out about a 60fps mod that doesnt disable trophies on ps4/ps5, may have to give it a go. Heard performance with 60fps mod wasnt as good on ps4 pro due it playing in 4k and it struggles at doing both 60fps/4k for this game.

Good points.

I looked at that list and thought to myself. No wonder Rockstar is taking their sweet old time with GTA 6

(Red dead 2 was a masterpiece, but still....)
Companies like r* and take2 need to understand they should continue to make games like they used to, where they know people will buy the game. They keep putting off gta6 and other games eventually they'll divide their customer base so why even do that? People expect great things from r*, dont dump on your customers because gta online is popular. And the latest talk surrounding gta6 is that it'll have a smaller campaign with installments, why?

They have to understand their games will never lose money, so why screw up what has worked so well for them before?

i hear ya. Even with RDR 2 being a masterpiece. It is a bit crazy that they skipped an entire console generation with no new GTA

I've found, just like you mentioned, it looks pretty solid right out of the box. I did feel Game mode was a little flat in color for me. Just a personal preference but I like vivid colors and detail. Moving it over to Vivid looked amazing but I'm not sure how that affects the gaming performance (and I noticed it always reverts back to Game mode each time anyway). So I just bumped up color and a tiny bit of sharpness on Game mode and I think I have it where I like it. Looks really clean.

I haven't watched hardly any television on it yet tbh. Checked out a couple quick peeks at a 4K movie and it looked good. If there is any soap opera affect I will quickly kill that. I just can't do that. So far though, I can see where the hype with OLED lies. Now I just get to hope/be careful that I don't get any burn in. lol

My b6 has permanent burn in from overwatch and destiny 2. My c9 looks brand new and its had use pretty much every day for over a year that I've had it. One thing I did with my c9 is keep power saver enabled (I think on minimum) and I had the oled light turned down for the first few weeks, basically during the break-in period I like to call it. After a few weeks I put the oled light back to where the picture looks nice and disabled power saver.

On my first b6 I just had everything cranked up to super high oled light/contrast from the start. It didnt help that the b6 ran much hotter than my c9.

I would still run power savers on the components like your console where screensaver comes on after a few minutes of inactivity.

Edit: if you have any 60fps or fast motion games you will definitely notice input delay on your controller when moving the camera or doing sudden movements in non game mode settings. On my b6 I ran on vivid for a couple of years then learned about the optimization and tried game mode. Could not believe how responsive my games felt. Tried vivid again for comparison and the initial delay in inputs was very much noticeable.

If you watch movies on your console you may have to manually switch off game mode if it doesnt switch back automatically. I believe I run something like IPS Bright Room or Dark Room for my dedicated bluray player and streaming apps.
