I loved adventure games when I was growing up but I learned that if I got stuck too long in one area, I would end up quitting and never playing it again. That was not due to frustration but simply having better things to do with my time.If you use a walkthrough or watch someone else beat it and copy, then you did not beat the game. You did it the right way.
I had an apple IIgs computer a long time ago with a series of games called Kings Quests. I spent a long time not beating it or getting anywhere in the game. Years later I looked up the walkthrough of the first game in the series instead of trying to beat it when I was older, and I still regret it. Figuring that game out would have been an achievement.
I think it is a waste of money to cheat on the hard parts of games.
While those situations were rare, I would look up how to get past that one part because I knew it was either that or I would have stopped playing.
Most of the adventure games I played and finished I did so without any help, but I have no regrets on the ones that I did get help with in one area.
On non-adventure games though such as RPG and FPS games I avoided using any cheat codes, cheat mods, etc. regardless of getting stuck because there was enough action to keep it fun while continuing to try to beat a tough area and a greater amount of satisfaction once I did.
