I have not played the remake. I did play the original like 3 times. It’s an amazing, amazing game.

you do not need to play the original to enjoy the remake. It’s the same story, but more in depth from everything I read.

Without getting too heavy into spoilers, it's the original story of the first game for the first 95%.

Then the drugs kick in and set up some interesting possibilities for Remake Part 2 and beyond.

I have little doubt it will be a good game but Ubisoft is milking that franchise for every nickel it can,:laugh:I would much rather see a new Splinter Cell game, heck I would even love if they remastered the first 3 which are awesome games.
Hy, you aint lying lol :) I took a break after part 2 until Syndicate bc I got tired of the formula.

Tbh I like this one bc it is a shift from their norm in terms of the lore/combat and there really haven't been any of those type games more recently involving tht viking/celtic/middle earth type lore since Witcher. So in a backwards way, I know they will make it at least an 8/10 viking game comp to another studio who might phone it in. The last one in Greece-Rome (Odyssey) was good at this where they really modified the combat to feel heavier as opposed to him hopping around like a ninja as was the case in prior games.

All that said, this industry is starving for some good new/innovative IPs so do hear your point 100%. AC coming in again, then Far Cry, then Battlefield, it does bc a little lazy feeling.

I agree with you that AC sort of got played out a few years ago, but for some reason I'm expected to play this one. I'll probably go back and finish Origins and Odyssey first.

Spoiler free

An employee leaked a significant portion of the game after a payment dispute. Apparently senior team and executives got their bonuses while grunt workers didn't. Someone said these bonuses are the major income for such workers.

This is on top of reports coming out that Baughty Dog has terrible crunch for employees and has been an increasingly terrible place to work.

The leaks included fully voiced cutscenes which have been copyright struck off platforms like YouTube. There are screenshots from the dev kit of the dev build that give away more of the game due to the names of levels and sections.

Without getting into specifics, people are mad that the plot sucks and hate the direction they went. I've looked up the spoilers and confirm I hate it. What I can't confirm is the other issue coming out of this; complicating the matter is that people are inferring from the spoilers that the game leans heavily into social justice issues and identity politics. The fact that Anita Sarkeesian has her name anywhere near the game doesn't bode well for this.

Also, the voice actor for Joel did an interview about three weeks ago where he said fans need to be open minded and let themselves be told the stort they need to be told and the story they want to be told. Barf.
