I finally broke down and purchased the PS5 Pro. I haven't set it up yet. It's still in the box. I was not planning on getting one, but my current PS5 overheats repeatedly. Long story short I've come to the conclusion it's probably a liquid metal problem. I did not come to that conclusion lightly. I did a lot of troubleshooting and a lot of cleaning to come to that expectation.

I'm debating on if I want to sell the bad console "as is" or do the extra step of fixing the liquid metal issue and possibly sell it for more money. Selling it "as is" makes it easier on me but I would feel a bit guilty for selling a system than can overheat in the middle of an intense scene and then shut down. I've had my system for a little over 4 years and it irritates me when it shuts down. I can only imagine what the poor guy buying my system would think when he discovers it overheats quickly when he is playing an intensive game.

The purchase of this is so different than when the PS5 came out. I ordered it today from Walmart, waited about an hour until I got the notification it was ready for retrieval, and away I went. Most of remember the fiasco of this current generations' launch. I'm looking at the box now and kind of getting excited about setting it up.

I was stuck between the PS5 and the Xbox. Just got the Xbox cause it just so happened I went on Bestbuy randomly and they just repopulated the stock at that time.

You'll enjoy it. Love mine. I actually finally broke down and bought the disc drive for it. Most of my games are digital, but it's nice to have when you need it. Sony shipped it fast and it was a super easy install. Pull the top cover, it snaps right in, and you put the new cover on.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but I love my Xbox equally as much.

The quick resume on Xbox is amazing. Their cloud system is smoother than Sony's too.

The look of it and the theme is kind of British Fallout but the game play is more about investigating and figuring out the mystery. Multiple story paths and you can do the story anyway you want. It's a little more like the Stalker games. Open Sections instead of big open world.

It was awful. I was lucky as I was working from home then, so I had multiple opportunities to go to different sites in effort to buy one. I someone got lucky and was able to snag one. I despised scalpers then and I despised the merchants who didn't seem to care their supply was gobbled up by bot programs.

I hope Xbox stays in the game as competition is a good thing. I've never played on Xbox so I can't comment. Their latest console has features I wish Sony had like their quick resume. Loading different games is quick on PS5 but nowhere near as quick as "instant". I think their gamepass is a great bargain.

I know I'm going to love this system. If nothing else I won't have to worry about it shutting down in the middle of a gaming session. I debated heavily before purchasing the Pro. Even though my PS5 had annoying heat problems I still had doubts. I know there weren't/aren't a lot of new games for the PS5, but just having more power than a PS4 was more than enough justifiying buy the PS5 back then. The Pro delivers more power (even if it's small?) so the games that ran well should run even better.

I moved my 2TB SSD from my old system to the new one so I have about 4 TB of internal storage. I also transferred most of my older games from an external HDD to the new system. I'm already looking at which games to move back onto the external HD as I'm already hitting the storage limit, and I didn't transfer them all. I know 95 percent of the games on there I won't ever play again, and some I barely touched, but I have a hard time deleting them or putting them on an external drive.

I really like how it was a plug and play with the old SSD card. There was no formatting or registering the card. It made moving the games so easy. The other stuff was easy to transfer through my network. Sony did well on that.

I went ahead and got the disk drive yesterday and I installed it a few minutes ago. You're correct on how easy it was. I was going to wait, but I still have GameFly disks I haven't loaded and that in itself is wasting money if I don't use them. I like how there is a physical eject button on the disk drive. It eliminates the guess work on which button is which. I ordered a knockoff vertical stand from Amazon. The console doesn't look right to me laying on its side. Now on to sell my PS5 to someone to help offset the cost. If Facebook marketplace is any indication a lot of others are selling theirs as well.

I ordered a knockoff vertical stand from Amazon. The console doesn't look right to me laying on its side. If I got different color side panels it probably would look better aesthetically, but vertically it seems to blend in better with my setup. There are a lot of options for stands. Some go over the top with LED lights and other gimmicks. I went for the cheap one.

Due to constraints with my entertainment center, I have to keep mine laying on its side. I will say, I didn’t like the way it looked until I attached the disc drive. With the drive attached, it has better proportions, in my opinion.
