The Video Game Thread

Awesome!! Yeah, there is definitely no shortage of things to do and places to explore in that game. It's fun and there is TONS to collect. Apparently (and this is not a typo) there are something like 30 billion different weapon variations in the game. It's crazy. Once you find ones you like, you'll know (I prefer the Torque weapons). I took a break from it after dropping a ton of hours into it but talking with you about it now, I think I will hop back in this weekend.

Enjoy!! If you have any questions, ask away!
I'm up to level 20, so I have a long way to go. This game is intense. I don't remember BL3 being so hectic. I just finished the Sol boss fight. I thought the boss fight in one of the Control DLC games was my hardest. The one I just finished wore me out and it's up there for difficulty (for me). None of my weapons seemed to do anything, but that was my fault. I like using all the weapons just to see what each will do. When I started the Sol fight I was losing 6 figure money each time I died. By the end it was around $6k left.

Are all the bosses like that?

I'm really enjoying the game. I have only played BL3 in the series so my history with playing them isn't long, so I don't have the attachment to the older games. I don't care how it compares to the earlier games. I go by what is now. I only play so long each session as it wears me out, but it's fun! I purchased the game through Gamefly at a discount and I reduced the amount of games I rent at a time as I have large backlog and I don't see that shrinking anytime soon.

I am cautiously very optimistic about this game. Looks to combine building and exploration elements from tears of the kingdom

I wouldn't be surprised if GTA 6 gets delayed again. Crimson Desert is my most anticipated game of this year.

Looks like a giant sandbox of entertainment. Hope the game releases with any setbacks, I can't wait to play it.

My most anticipated is still Fable but Crimson looks great. Almost too great which makes me kind of question it. They made Black Desert Online so I hope there's not a bunch of micro-transactions in it even though it's single player.

Was going to mention this being made by Pearl Abyss and Black Desert online being pay to win/ pay for convenience although it isn't as bad as it was on release. Crimson desert was originally supposed to be an MMO RPG. Like you said it looks almost too good to be true, we shall see

Agreed. If Crimson Desert does incorporate micro-transactions into the game, the bread and butter of their MMO Black Desert Online, then hopefully it's just cosmetic and can be easily ignored.

Glad you're having fun with it!! It’s a pretty intense game and there’s something around every single corner. The boss fights are all pretty challenging. From what I understand, the difficulty uses level scaling, so depending on who you ask, opinions vary on how to approach the game. Some say to do side quests and level up first, then go back through the main story and bosses, while others say to speed-run the missions and push straight through at a lower level. I did something in the middle. I focused mostly on the main missions and boss fights, but at the same time did some exploring and side quests. And hey, there’s no shame in dropping the difficulty down to Easy if you need to. The most important thing is just to have fun.

Once you find some weapons you really like, it helps a lot. You’ll keep unlocking better ones as you go. The Torgue weapons are usually my favorite, but most of them all have something cool about them. Glad you were able to purchase it too. I love that feature of GameFly. I totally get having a large backlog. I jump around from game to game myself, but when I find one that really sucks me in like Borderlands 4 did, it’s always a blast.

Not to overwhelm you with info, but have you found those locked Golden Chests at some of the bases? You earn Golden Keys to open those. The game will give you some keys here and there, but SHiFT releases codes as well. You can get some really good weapons from those.

Go here and sign up and attach your Xbox or PSN gamertag:

Then check here for codes. They do expire, but new ones release every so often and get posted here:

Really glad you’re enjoying the game!! It’s a fun one in my opinion. I love the gigantic map with so much to explore.

One of my favorite running jokes on the internet right now is the whole “we got insert subject before GTA VI” thing. They're great and always make me laugh. I will be sad when it's over.

(but obviously happy to finally play the game)
Saw a video the other day of a guy getting arrested for murder and he was crying because he was going to miss GTA VI.

Yesterday we got the news that we finally got Metal Gear Solid 4 out of PS3 jail before GTA 6.
