I think being the DC fits him best and frankly, I think this Co-Head Coach thing works well for Dallas. Essentially he's the HC b/c he does the pressers, etc, but on the field, he's the DC with some HC duties, though I figure he gets input from Garrett occasionally so... it is what it is and right now, it's working.

These Cowboys are winning without much help from Wade. WP is a figure head.
During a game Wade's look is more blank than a Fargo winter landscape, blanker than Plaxico Burris' charity-appearances schedule on the night he shot hisself, blanker than Jerra's books-to-read schedule. Blanker than the Cowboys Cheerleaders' director's list on scholastic achievement. Well, you get the point.
I agree a team needs a coach that has a firm hand usually. If a team is comprised of 53 Ratliffs though I think a softer approach won't hurt. I have no idea if everyone on the team has a mentality of a Ratliff, but I guess we will find out as the season progresses.RXP;3069963 said:
Wade is an excellent DC but not a HC IMO. I watched Mike Tomlin's press conference after last nights game in Denver and was almost in tears. "Now THERES a HC" was all I could think of.
After the presser, a guy on NFL Network relayed the story where on the last day of training camp, Tomlin had buses pulled up to the field shortly after practice started. As the players looked longingly at the buses hoping that the last day of TC would be cut short, Tomlin yells out something like "if you guys want to defend your championship, there are no short cuts!! Get out there and finish your practice!!"
Many will roll their eyes at mind games like that. I love that kind of stuff. And Tomlin gets nothing but respect from his players.
Wade would never think of doing something like that. It's not his style. I much prefer a firmer hand, because I believe that in crunch time, that firmer hand is often needed. Wade's post-season record shows his easy going ways hasn't worked yet. I hope it will this year.

Plenty of time for everyone else to hop on.
I have no doubt his training camps are hard. I'm talking about his personality. When he takes the blame for the players mistakes is what I'm talking about.Doomsday101;3069975 said:Yet players say Wade is not as soft as some have claimed. Dallas ran more 2 a days this past training camp than they ever did under BP and according to players the work he put them through during the bye week was not a walk in the park. Wade does treat these guys like NFL players because they are NFL players Wade did not become one of the top DC because he is soft.
Could not have said it better, myself!Cover 2;3069865 said:Not yet. Given his past success (or lack thereof) he will have to prove that he can do a good job in the postseason.
I do think he looks better this year. He has a more hands-on approach which is helping the defense tremendously IMO. I also think the offseason moves to get rid of the locker room problems has benefitted him. With his coaching style you need players to hold themselves accountible and other players accountible. Thank goodness we have players like Ratliff, Romo, Witten, and others. I think as long as he has players like the ones mentioned above he can be successful, but if he has players like last year they will walk all over him and he will fail.
I have hope we can have a successful postseason, but Wade is going to have to prove it to me before I get on his band wagon.

I agree. I wish he would chew players out more though, but as long as he produces that's all that matters.Doomsday101;3069993 said:He is the HC he is going to take the heat when players mess up because it is his job to fix it, all that matters to me is the problem is addressed and that is directed at the players by Wade and his staff.

By that criteria Switzer was our winningiest coach of all time before Wade got here. All that means is that they both got handed a good team. (unlike most coaches, who by default inherit crappy ones)
