The window is closed for the Cowboys

Absolutely right. Go get Greenlaw in free agency, and let's find a Free agent center or trade for one. Let's stop messing around. That one move would give us so much power and flexibility at the Oline. Then like you said, draft well. Football is still won and lost in the trenches and we saw it over and over last night in the game. Mahomes could do nothing but watch. That's the power of stout trenches on both sides, offense and defense. Makes it real easy on the linebackers and dbs when you have players like that up front.

If Jerry participate in FA like you just outlined, I’ll start to pivot and believe the old man can admit he’s wrong and change course. Stephen’s cheap arse will be in his ear telling Daddy not spend his inheritance though.

Remember when Dak's main positive was how durable he was? Never missed so much of a snap between 2016-2019. But starting in 2020 with that terrible season ending injury, it's always something with him. Romo was the same way starting in 2008. Missing games seemingly every year. Yet like the Dak era, you nailed it, we have no plan moving forward. And we doubled down and handed Dak a massive extension. We are sitting in football purgatory right now.

The magnitude of the mistake of extending Dak has only begun to hit this team.

If you listen to delusional, grumpy, defensive Jerry…as well as pay attention to the past….he fully expects Prescott to carry the team because of what he is being paid.

Jeez if yesterday wasn’t the perfect case in point that a QB alone can’t do that I’m not sure what was.

I bet ya in true Cowboy form, we go trade for Deebo Samuel. We will overpay for him. He was available about 2-3 years ago and we EL Paso'd. He was at his peak. Now the wheels are falling off him. Which means he's cheaper. We luv cheap and old. I'd rather get Dre Greenlaw. We need a LB badly

Ok, you cant build exclusively through the draft
You can draft a QB but the chances of being a winner especially right off the bat is almost none
Hire another HC? Isnt the current HC picking his staff now?
The current head coach has been fired from NFl teams for almost 30 years. I don't see him being a shining star here in Dallas. He was chosen because he wouldn't ask Dak to do anything he couldn't do, which isn't much.
My second move would be to trade Parsons. For at least a number 1 and 2 number twos, which would do a lot of building on both offensive and defensive lines.
But really? We have quite a bit of talent on this team right now. It's just horribly coached and has been on offense for the last 4 years.
Of course, Jerry will do none of this, which is why we'll end up being bottom feeders for the next thing 5 years.

We could be better by 2027 but got to get rid of the Dead wood that's going to cost money and underperform this team is rotted through with them.

And let demarcus Lawrence drag his tired *** out the door with Micah and diggs behind him
That's it

Yep. He is signed for four years which is just starting, and apparently there’s two dead money years added after that to reduce the current cap hit, yet they refuse to use that to improve now. They carry it over and are way short on the field. It makes absolutely NO sense to operate that way.

Fans and media see that easily, but Jerry is a billionaire and wears a gold jacket…and of course built championship teams on his own, so he “doesnt need any journalist” telling him how to get there. He has this.

Well said. Football in it's simplest form is what we witnessed last night. The mighty Mahomes the gunslinger could do nothing. He was on his back , getting his own lineman shoved into him, or running for his life all night. That's the most dominating defense I've ever seen in a SB since we last won in 92-93. Our first with Troy. That game last night showed what an elite dline and Oline can do. No glitz, no glamour. Just thuggish dudes blasting holes for the skill guys to do their job.

Exactly, imagine if we DIDNT have Romo or Dak. We'd be a disaster rivaling the Browns.

Yeah, cuz, much like with Romo, Jerry's ignored the trenches until later into his career, and the next QB is going to suffer that until Jerry focuses on the trenches and run game..

It definitely doesn’t seem hopeful.
  • OL is in rebuild
  • No RBs
  • No depth at WR behind CeeDee
  • Decent TEs
  • Bound to Dak and there are far better QBs in the league
  • No DTs
  • Only really have Micah as an edge rusher
  • Overshown isn’t reliably healthy
  • Likely can’t keep all our CBs
  • Need to rebuild our safeties
  • Elite kicker
Sounds like just one or two players away from contending for a SB

Now compare that to last offseason - its like you photocopied it - we're screwed.

As I attempt to remind people every so often, at some point around 2008 he was asked why he doesn’t invest in the OL. The response….”I shouldn’t have to. Hudson Houck is the highest paid OL coach in the league.”

That tells you plenty on several levels. Maybe that’s changed, but I very much think he expects Prescott to do much more than he is capable of because of his salary and it’s just not going to happen.

Agree. I am at the, wake me up when Dak leaves point.
Just have to wait another 4 or 5 seasons until he’s gone and his numbers are off the books.
Hopefully we can draft a franchise type QB, with the fairly good amount of draft picks we will be getting within that timeframe.

Pathetic that Hurts gets a Super Bowl yet Romo or probably Dak won't. Good job ,Jerry.

The window has been shut since 1996. Around midseason in 1999 cement was poured in and it's stayed that way ever since.

Games are won and lost in the trenches.

Even the great Mahomes couldnt overcome that yesterday. A great DL will make any QB look average.

This team should have built around Parsons the year after he was drafted. Instead they drafted a TE who was 24 and did nothing to improve the DL. Mazi Smith was a wasted pick and this team just cant seem to draft DL at all.
I don't think the problem is that the Cowboys can't draft DL well, the problem is where we select them. Outside of QB and LT, defensive tackle is a position where the best talent is drafted in the top 10. Too often our success by just making the playoffs has pushed us into drafting in the bottom third of each round. Drafting DT's in the 20's generally means you are getting a player that is going to need a few seasons to develop. The Eagles drafted Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter in the 13th and 9th spots respectively. They lucked out on Carter who was projected to be a top-5 pick, but off-the-field character concerns allowed him to slip down to Philadelphia. Mason Graham is considered the top DT in this year's draft and is projected to go top-5. This is why, I believe that DT is the one position that you should aggressively go after in free agency - not over-the-hill guys looking to cash in on one last contract, but DTs coming off of their rookie deals and hitting the prime of their careers.

The people that make the decisions have no ability to recognize where the roster is in terms of being ready to win.

They think they are right there, and one draft will magically fix it all. That’s a serious problem until someone else is brought in who has a clue. At least 2-3 years away from that. Settle in and enjoy Jerry making a fool of himself.
