The window is closed for the Cowboys

I truly believe they genuinely thought 2016 was the base for Dak And that he would only get better from there but sadly, 2016 was his best season as he played up to his abilities as a game manager.
The team was super built for TONY. Not a rookie Dak. The fact Dak did so well is proof of how could it could have been.

Most rookie QB don't get that kinda team.

... window always open to opportunity. ; ).

As long as the Jones are in charge are window will never be open.

The FO is comfortable with the status quo and continuing only with what makes them hang around the rim. No sense of urgency since there is always next year.

Sit back and enjoy mediocrity. No end in sight.

We had 3 12 win seasons that we could have gone all in and done something special.

Jerry chose to not go all in and get all the holes filled as a result we squandered the opportunity.

We paid DAk and we paid CD and the window was closed while the eagles signed Becton, Barclay and drafted gifted players for their defense and built an absolute powerhouse that we stand no chance of being able to compete with.

The mollycoddled Chiefs that were brought along by the league and the refs shouldn't have even been in the same stadium with them.
Their trenches on both sides of the ball were built so bulletproof the Chiefs didn't stand a chance and neither do we.
Next Jerry will lock the window by making Micah the highest paid defensive player in the league and that will be his excuse that we have the highest paid players in the league but can't afford anybody else.

This team needs to be completely blown up and start over. We have started with a new coach now get rid of everything of value that we can get draft picks for and start over because there is absolutely no chance of competing with what we have there aren't enough draft picks or free agents available.

You mean the window of hanging out at the rim.

Our window closed when we decided to start Dak over Romo, with the best OL in the game and a prime Zeke. I said many times the SB window is short and they had zero reason to be that rash. They spent the next 8 years baby-sitting the JG project of QBs.

2014 and 2016 were also really good teams. The fact we didn't even muster one single NFC championship appearance with any of those teams is pathetic. Any of those 3 years could have had a Super Bowl appearance as well, especially with having a 1 seed.

And like 2007, the 2016 team looked young and poised to build something good for years to come. But with both of those teams, they flamed out the following year, then won a wild card game the year after but were dominated in the divisional round.
What killed and started the downturn was that 2017 Taco Charlton draft IMO.

Dak is nowhere near as good as Jalen. I don’t care what the stats say.
Dude has 5 years and already 2 SB appearances and 1 SB. Dak is going on year 9 and a half, adjusting for 2020.

I agree.

Games are won and lost in the trenches.

Even the great Mahomes couldnt overcome that yesterday. A great DL will make any QB look average.

This team should have built around Parsons the year after he was drafted. Instead they drafted a TE who was 24 and did nothing to improve the DL. Mazi Smith was a wasted pick and this team just cant seem to draft DL at all.
Jalen Hurts completed 80% of his passes for 2 TDs along with 72 rushing yards for another TD.

Saquon had 57 yards.

The Eagles lose last night with Dak at QB.

Dak don’t win without 100 yards of rushing support.

As I attempt to remind people every so often, at some point around 2008 he was asked why he doesn’t invest in the OL. The response….”I shouldn’t have to. Hudson Houck is the highest paid OL coach in the league.”

That tells you plenty on several levels. Maybe that’s changed, but I very much think he expects Prescott to do much more than he is capable of because of his salary and it’s just not going to happen.

Well, look at what happened to Mahomes. Their oline was a glaring weakness all season, and look what happened when they had to face a physical team who can eat a solid oline for breakfast.

Some people will argue that the defense wins games. Some will argue with that notion though.

I do however think that no one can argue the fact that the game is won in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

Thing is, being a lineman on a football team isn't the most glamorous position nor or they always the highest paid players.

The people that make the decisions have no ability to recognize where the roster is in terms of being ready to win.

They think they are right there, and one draft will magically fix it all. That’s a serious problem until someone else is brought in who has a clue. At least 2-3 years away from that. Settle in and enjoy Jerry making a fool of himself.

Well, yes, and it is only going to get worse until they realise the problem. Chances are though, Jerry may not live long enough to see the fruits of the rebuild that has to happen.

Right, but they make the flashy players more successful. They make the flashy players stars.

Agree. We got old.

At this point I would take Hurts over Dak all day long. He doesn't have that deer in the headlights like Dak gets in big games. More mobile, younger and stronger. We have the 3rd best QB in the East now .
Likely the 4th after the draft happens.

Baun, Sweat, Williams are free agents. They’ll be scattering for big contracts elsewhere. NFCE have tough schedules next year. I’d bet only the division winner gets to the playoffs, and that will likely be Washington.
Our biggest need currently is health. We have 3 of our top players in Dak, Diggs, and Overshown in the in tub for awhile. Dak’s the only one we will see most likely in TC. That’s two pro bowl talented players that you can’t use….
