If you think Zeke will be on the opening day roster then you must believe the Jones boys cave and give Zeke his demands or Zeke caves and agrees to wait his turn to get paid. Which is it? I think we have a real standoff here and neither side is giving in. The running game will be greatly demished this season and I don't know that we can recover from that. Anyone that is hand wringing over this is rightly doing so. Nothing that is accomplished in training camp is more important to this team than getting Zeke back in the good graces of the Jones boys and back on the field. Or the Jones boys find a way to be fairly compensated for Zeke in a trade.

This could be both good and bad. If Zeke doesn't play this upcoming season it would put more pressure on Dak. If the offense struggles and Dallas goes 9-7 or 8-8, there goes Dak's big contract. Then sign Zeke and Dak in 2020.

Nixing Zeke is setting Dak up for failure. Dak needs Zeke. For this reason, Zeke will be signed. Amari has already bailed the team out by saying he's not worried about his contract. The FO will now let Amari play out his final contract year and then franchise tag him next season. This allows the Cowboys to spread out these big contracts...2019-Zeke, 2020-Dak, 2021-Amari. Also, 2020 is the final year of the CBA so that allows each team to have both a franchise tag and a transitional tag. So in addition to franchise tagging Amari n 2020, the Cowboys can also transitional tag either Jaylon Smith or Byron Jones.

It has nothing to do about “caving”. Zeke’s not going to hold out past August 6th or he loses a year of free agency years. They may not come to terms by then, but Zeke will show up by then and a contract will get done.
