It's not, this team earned their week off by securing the division against the Colts.
Exactly. And you can be sure they're going to use it.

A .01% chance of the game having any meeting is not worth the much higher, and much more costly chance that he gets hurt.
so let me ask a Q?
do you think Seattle sits anybody ?
The dude has been in the league since 2003 and has been starting games since 2006. The idea that a grizzled veteran like him can't take a game off to keep his momentum going is frankly idiotic. Risking your franchise QB with a bad back in a meaningless game is insane. Full stop.
Sit: Romo, Murray, Free, Martin, and anyone else who needs some recovery time. We need to be at full strength in two weeks.

Did you ever hear of mojo? Take a game off and you can lose it. Remember Cabo?
They have a one game at a time war mentality. Don't screw with it. Besides, anyone can come out of the game early.
With a possible Bye Week on the line, I don't see how it wouldn't be "intelligent" to play him.
1/250 chance that DT-GB end up tying.
There are 2 scenarios to get a bye:
1. Det/GB end in a tie.
2. BOTH Seattle and Arizona lose. Seattle hosts the Rams and Cardinals play Niners.
The first scenario has about a .000001 chance of happening.
The second scenario is very unlikely just because Seattle is not losing to the Rams.
But here's the kicker. If scenario 2 happens, we get a bye. No matter the result of our game. We can lose and still get a bye if this scenario happens.
Scenario 1 requires us to actually win.
Play Romo and the starters a couple of series to establish something and then sit them. It realistically means nada. Of course they want to play. They are pros and only play 16 of these a year. No pro athlete worth anything will tell you he wants to sit. But this is where the head coach and the staff has to make those decisions for them.
Yeah, and he's not even referring to the tie scenarios. He, like so many others on this board, still seems to think that beating the Commanders improves our chances of getting a bye when the reality is our chances are virtually the same whether we win or lose.
Frankly, it's a great position to be in. Rest our starters, if we get the bye, great. If we don't, we'll still be well rested heading into the post season.
As @Toruk_Makto pointed out, Belichick is probably going to play his starters a bit. Parcells did too when we had nothing to play for in 2003 with a playoff berth locked up. It's not a crazy idea to play the starters some in Week 17.

Bingo. There is zero reason to play the starters. Especially against a trashy Commanders team. They would love nothing more than to injure one of our starters. Especially Romo. We have nothing to prove in that game. It's all about the post season right now.
