True enough.. The hope is that by managing the game you can be the team with the ball at the end with a chance to win it instead of the team fighting uphill all game long and falling short. I hope Dalton can regain his 2011-2016 form and give us a chance. He's got to be excited to be playing in what amounts to his hometown so he has plenty of reason to show up and show out. He's not going to have a great line to do it behind but he has a great back and an amazing set of receivers. He just needs to be tough enough to survive all the hits these young tackles are going to subject him to.

It's not hard to see, I don't get why people don't see the obvious, like 99% of QB's Dalton has never made the playoffs with a below average defense.....THATS NOT BASHING DALTON...thats saying this team isn't going anywhere with this defense in its current state. you throw in not one but TWO undrafted OT's and a LG who still hasn't blocked anyone and now you are in trouble. Dak with the WR's are the only reason we stayed in games.....Dalton could play way above backup QB status and still not win nor be as good as Dak..Again thats saying more about this team than it is Dalton.

He’s more accurate intermediate and short but far less mobile behind one of the worst OLs we’ve had in a long time. Behind a healthy OL I think Dalton could be great here, but behind what we currently have he’ll be lucky to make it through the season

I'm really pulling for Andy to live up to my hopes that he'll prove himself to be more capable than many of us believe him to be. He'll surely be playing with considerably better support within this offense than what he had in Cincinnati for the last four years. I believe that much is likely a given. Let's see if he can boost his reputation sufficiently to afford him far greater respect than anything he's enjoyed in quite some time. That'd be good for all concerned. :)

He'll be playing with significantly better backing on offense than what he had in Cincinnati for the last four years -- that much is a given, imho. Let's see if he's able to boost his reputation sufficiently to afford him far more respect than what he's had in quite some time. :)

The line is equally as bad as Daltons if not worse. Joe Mixon is a great back, just ran behind a poor line with Dalton as his QB. I would agree that we have better passing weapons here, but its not like Dalton had none.

The defense here in Dallas this year so far has been worse than any defense in NFL history. Sadly that's a fact.

More troll excuses. Dak is making a mockery out of you trolls.

Cant wait to laugh in your face when they unveil the "Red Rocket" tonight. LOL
That may indeed be the case that Dalton plays bad, the sad part is you are hoping it happens just like some other Dak groupies to some how justify paying Dak top dollar for good to average play depending on the level of competition. Dalton could be terrible, or he could be good it is wait and see for now. For you it doesn't matter you will be here to bash him, sad you are a Dak fan not a team fan and your biggest fear is there is little or no drop off in QB efficiency and W's pile up. The only mockery is your sad limited view as a supposed Cowboys fan. Like I have said lets wait and see where the year ends up and see what Daks real worth is to the team, for you in your small closed mind that is not even a comparison to consider.

top 10 QB's are not "solid". They are rare and hard to find. Heck, I will even go as far as to say he is top 7 now. Those guys don't grow on trees.

By replace you mean lose? LOL

Dalton is going to throw for 500 yards and 4 TD's? I doubt that seriously. Dak did it almost every game he had to. If the Cowboys get down big, you can forget about it with Dalton.
Oh great guru of football please bestow upon me your unmatched knowledge of all things football and help me understand why the offense has to resort to trick plays such as reverses to WRs and fake reverses culminating in a pass to the QB when near the goal line.

I am just a mere fan, who sees teams like the Seahawks put the game in their QB's hands and throw four straight times from inside the ten with the game on the line, and wonders why I never see anything close to that level of confidence shown in our QB by our coaches

Why is that, oh great guru?

No, you are confusing my motivations. I want the Cowboys to lose so that we get a high draft pick. This season is over. Winning the division at 6-10 or 7-9 or even 8-8 doesn't interest me.

If we have any hope of forming a true contender then this defense needs young talent and its much easier to find that drafting in the top 10 than in the 20's.

I actually like Dalton. But Im not the one propping him up as better than Dak or some kind of team savior like you trolls are. Dalton showing his lessor abilities will just add a little extra pleasure to the losing.

Yep...these hypocrites are doing the same thing to Andy they claimed people did to Dak. Pathetic, but there we are.

I'm hoping the influx of some of our walking wounded will springboard this defense into better respectability than it's had lately. I'm not saying they will be especially impressive, by any means, but a decent showing tonight would likely be an outstanding surprise for them as well as us. Stranger things do happen, now and then.

I think you're being a bit more hopeless about this defense than what might be justified. They should improve with a better understanding of what the heck that they're doing in the weeks to come. If not, we'll clearly be even more disappointed than what we have been so far. Yes, they've been awful but there are good reasons why and also reasons not to give up on 'em just yet, as well.

Let's see what happens tonight before giving up on them forever, OK? An average performance by them might make a win a real possibility, rather than just a hopeful happening. I think this OL will likely improve as this season continues. The youngsters will likely discover better ways to cope with their competition. The OT's are young and are likely to improve with further development.

I think Andy is actually faster than Dak on their recorded combine times. I think Dak is a more powerful runner.

Between them, it's probably a wash on the mobility front.

Trick plays are part of the game. I applaud Moore for actually doing one.

Dak had 1690 yards, 9 passing TD's and 3 rushing TD's through those first 4 games. NFL record actually on the yards. All 3 of those rushing TD's was inside the 3. I would say that's a lot of confidence in those numbers.

Did you watch the Tennessee game last night where they lined Henry up as the QB and tanni out wide and he ran in the direct snap? Hell of a play. Part of the game buddy.

Saying Dalton isn't on the same level as Prescott isn't hate, it's factual. Sorry, but that's how I see it. I hope Dalton plays great, but I don't think he can overcome this awful defense at this stage in his career.

Dalton and Dak are equal in mobility? And you actually truly believe that?

Maybe when we get both LVE AND Lee back, I could see it making a difference. These guys aren't stopping Murray running tonight. And Drake is the type of back that if he gets an opening he can take it all the way.

You want me to show you rushing numbers and rushing TD's for careers for both of them? Has Dalton ever been referred to as a "dual threat" QB like Dak?

A thread was started today claiming Dak was a "running QB". Not sure anyone has ever called Dalton dual, much less running.
