Maybe when we get both LVE AND Lee back, I could see it making a difference. These guys aren't stopping Murray running tonight. And Drake is the type of back that if he gets an opening he can take it all the way.

It's not like our offense isn't something that they'll have trouble with. The Bengals aren't a good defense when it comes to controlling a prolific running game. I think that's what they'll see in us tonight. Yes, we're the underdogs for a reason and stopping Kyler Murray and his offensive cohorts will likely be more than we can handle with anything resembling authority.

Suffice it to say, they'll be in the same boat with the offensive threats they'll be faced with. Granted, if our defense doesn't step up considerably tonight, we'll be challenged enough to potentially lose and do so convincingly. Let's just hope we step up and surprise the world tonight. Stranger things have happened. Hopefully, our youngsters at OT will put forth their best effort yet.

I don't think we have a prolific running game to be honest. With Dak gone and the line the way it is it will be slow going for Zeke. And once were down 10 you can kiss the run game goodbye.

I tell myself I don't want the team to win, but Im curious to see how I feel come game time. I do have Lamb on my fantasy team, so I will be rooting for that.

Dalton and Dak are equal in mobility? And you actually truly believe that?

It's been that way this year. I think Dak is way more mobile and more durable doing it. But we haven't; taken advantage. When he did take off he didn't...slide. :(

With better performances from our OL, it's entirely possible that our running game could return to something reminiscent of the past. Add to that the fact that Cincy isn't overly adept at plugging the run. That's something that should work in our favor, without a doubt. If we lose, we lose, but if we win, it could signal better times to come for the remainder of the season. I'm holding out hope for the latter. If nothing else, I'll be intrigued to see what Andy Dalton can do to punish Cincy's defense. I'd like nothing better than to see him surprise his critics, not to mention seeing us winning vs. a decent team. ;)

Throw in the Cards are an aggresive defense and we are going to see the most Blitzes we have seen this season. if the O-line doens't get thier S*** together, Dalton is going to be under extreme pressure tonight. The coaches have to game plan ways to get the ball out quickly for him. A run game would be a MONSTER plus but nothing this O-line has shown me this year says thats going to happen. A run game could truly be the diference between a good QB the rest of the season and seeing what we have in Denucci very soon.

Trick plays are part of the game. I applaud Moore for actually doing one.

Dak had 1690 yards, 9 passing TD's and 3 rushing TD's through those first 4 games. NFL record actually on the yards. All 3 of those rushing TD's was inside the 3. I would say that's a lot of confidence in those numbers.

Did you watch the Tennessee game last night where they lined Henry up as the QB and tanni out wide and he ran in the direct snap? Hell of a play. Part of the game buddy.

You know what else is part of the game, buddy? QB'S throwing the ball to receivers in the end zone from in close. More common than QB runs are but you know that being so knowledgeable. Everywhere but Dallas that is.

When inside the ten it is either, hand off to Zeke, throw to Zeke behind the LOS, safe throw to the corner of the end zone or QB draw. This year they are down to breaking out the bag of tricks to make up for the glaring hole in the offense when the field is shrunk.

While Dalton may not be the big, strong runner that Dak is, he should considerably fill in that gaping hole in the short field passing game the coaches have had to work around for the 4+ years.

If you paid more attention you might actually see and understand the big picture a bit better.

No, you are confusing my motivations. I want the Cowboys to lose so that we get a high draft pick. This season is over. Winning the division at 6-10 or 7-9 or even 8-8 doesn't interest me.

If we have any hope of forming a true contender then this defense needs young talent and its much easier to find that drafting in the top 10 than in the 20's.

I actually like Dalton. But Im not the one propping him up as better than Dak or some kind of team savior like you trolls are. Dalton showing his lessor abilities will just add a little extra pleasure to the losing.
I am not saying Dak is better because no one knows that, you think you know but you do not as it appears you also have difficulty reading. You would not be hoping for losses with Dak playing for that high draft pick so please just stop the BS and trying to deflect your bias. . For you it is all about Dak. Dalton may suck and I have no problem with that but you have a built excuse ready and waiting to hope the team loses, a high draft pick and that is really pathetic and your conscience if you have one is satisfied.

The "QBs throwing the ball to receivers in the end zone from in close" started with Marino back in the 1980's. Most teams ran the ball for tds from in close because as the coach said, "if you throw the ball only 3 things can happen, and two of them are bad". Play calling was a lot more conservative then, mainly because of the passing rules, but also just the way the game was played. Marino (and Shula I guess) didn't do it that way.

These days we do see more in-close passes for tds, but that may also just be that way because teams don't spend high picks on running backs as much, if they did have the Elliotts, etc. they would. Say AP run one in just yesterday. Emmitt and Tomlinson did it a lot. More team preference than anything else. Bet Carroll would like to have tried that....

This is a brain dead take. First of all I have screamed to the loss of my voice at how often we DON'T hand the ball to Zeke in the red zone. That is exactly what we SHOULD do inside the 10. I would bet a mortgage payment that there are only a handful of defenses in the league that can stop Zeke from getting 10 yards on 4 carries. Whenever we get there I immediately start screaming "give it to Zeke 4 times" at the TV. Secondly running the ball into the end zone counts exactly the same number of points as throwing it and is far and away the safer play. If you have a QB who can run it in it is simply the smarter thing to do. You may also have noticed that this team is averaging over 30 points per game over the past two seasons doing it this way. So why the hell would they go to higher risk plays in the red zone? To appease internet "experts." This is yet another example of people wanting it to look a certain way rather than simply appreciating that the team has been top 3 in scoring the last two years. If the defense was even average this year this team would be 5-0. If you can't see that it's because you simply don't want to.

Why would our Oline have better performances? Those guys aren't coming back.

I guess you can hope for all that. Personally, I am hoping for a high draft pick.

Actually it was Bill Walsh who started it with the 49ers in 1980. They had crap for running backs so Walsh basically turned the short passing game into his running game. His version of the WCO also featured a healthy dose of pick plays so they often had guys inexplicably running wide open in the end zone no matter what part of the field it was on.

Continuity on the o-line is a big part of being good. Me, I'd stick with Biadiaz, etc., win or lose, unless one of them pulls a Green and is getting manhandled, let the pups play together. With Dak out and the defense in shambles, not likely the Cowboys are going anywhere much this year, might as well start on next year...

One word: continuity. The more these guys play together they better they will function as a unit. It's not like they all suck.. Knight is decent, Biadasz seems to be headed for the upper tier of center, Zack is Zack and Steele can hold up against non-elite pass rushers. Williams should also show some improvement going forward because he clearly rushed back from his knee surgery and has not been nearly as strong in his base as he needs to be. I expect that to also continue to get incrementally better as the season wears on barring some other injury setback.

Im surprised you cant even answer your own question. Zeke gets most of his TD's inside the 5. Dak has 3 TD's inside the 5. Why pass when you can run it in with either Zeke or Dak?

What picture don't I understand? LOL

The one where the defense is the problem? The one where Dak is better than Dalton? The one where Dak is a franchise QB? The one where Dak is a top 10 QB?

When you figure this stuff out, then you can talk to me about big picture.

Marino threw it more often, that's the difference. Walsh did it as necessary, Shula and Marino did it all the time, even when playing a team that wasn't very good...

And Williams was a tackle in college, he's still learning how to play guard at a high level, think he's going to get the hang of it....

Looking forward to the game tonight, those that want to lose for a better draft status can sit this season out. We won't miss you.

There is a massive gap between Andy and Dak but that's OK. Outside Philly that's been the case everywhere that had a true starter.
Andy is far less athletic, has a lesser arm at this point in his career and most definitely won't shake off pass rushers as well.

But the offense can operate with a quicker, more run and play action based offense and survive just fine
Should result in fewer plays, better chance to defend and higher TOP.
You can win that way.
It's what BAL and TENN do.
CLE is doing it as well.
