There's a clear frontrunner for Cowboys RB2 job behind Tony Pollard

I agree with everything but blaming the head coach dude they only ran the ball 16 times

the game plans may have been approved up front but I don't think there was part of the game where you only run 16 times in a playoff game. so as soon as Pollard goes down and zeke looks ineffective Malik Davis should have been brought in by the offensive coordinator because when he's calling the plays he's got a call run plays that involved Malik Davis because even with Elliot they still only called 16 total run plays that is on the coordinator he's calling the plays so if they end up calling more run plays they would have had to put in Malik Davis that's why you blame moore because he did not run the ball more you like my pun. Kellen Moore abandoned the run or called poor run plays, that's why he gets most of the blame.

MM get on the headset as HC says Kellen get Malik in the game NOW . Simple . Buck stops at the top . Not in the middle .

That is the extreme worst case scenario.
I recommend you come out from under the rock you have been living under

The fact is that if you put the game on Daks shoulders against an average defense he can win you that game

Expect Dak to win 2-3 games against the top teams without a great run game and he will fail

Thought this was a thread about our stable of RBs?
Dak thread now?

A lot of you said that they wouldn't beat the Bucs and Brady in the playoffs and the Cowboys dominated them and Dak was excellent. I could see them winning in the playoffs this year if they get the number 1 spot.

Depends on who the quarterback is

Some Qbs with lesser skill sets need to have at least the threat of a great running game to have any sucess
Threat of the running game is dictated by your ability to run not the name of the running back.

Your ability to run is based on your offenisve line and scheme and not the name of the running back.

As I stated RB hardly matters.

So that's why KC takes RBs in the 1st. Mahomes must really suck badly then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Pollard has been present at practice, but Dallas is wisely managing his workload in hope that he'll be fully unleashed at training camp."

Translation: Pollard isn't going to be ready by training camp.

They draft much better when they don't trade up for need.
Sometimes trading up for need works out fine. Biadasz worked out fine. Good idea at the time that in fact did work out.

Key is you have to not be desperate and over spend and over hope. The last is probably the big danger with Jerry.

Me, I like trading *back* and getting more picks. TE in the 2nd was unnecessary and the player a reach, IMO. By value if not practicality, coulda turned the 2nd rounder into 2 picks right in the draft region you mentioned. Get a RB and probably the TE we took too.

Nah it’s more about the line and run scheme. There’s a reason you find RB’s anywhere.

If you have a good line and scheme that creates running lanes, you can find a professional RB to do so. I know the Niners are the top of the class, but they cycle through late round RB’s annually with no running game drop off.

If the line and Shotty’s run scheme are effective, any pro RB will be fine.

Dallas will find out this season they screwed up at RB, just as they found out they screwed up on WR last season.
We might not be done there. If we really do want to run, we need another good back. Pollard has never carried 200 times in a season. In 2014 and 2016, when we had ball control offenses, we ran the ball 500 times.

I think this RB position will be a true RB by committee next year with possible 3 guys getting significant carries. Pollard is a great weapon but he’s not built to be a “bell cow” RB with 20-25 carries a game. He’s best with about 15 total touches IMO.
Exactly. Been saying that for a long time now. Seems pretty clear what the Cowboys are doing.

We had another guy that probably would have a low relative athletic score .. whatever the .. that is. He wore #22.
Hey!
Maybe *my* abysmally low athletic score means that *I'm* the next Emmitt!

Yeah, Rico Dowdle and Malik Davis will be just fine behind our great OL

Let’s trade Pollard

The sheer stupidity on this board is difficult to fathom sometimes

UDFA JAG.
If they're playing up Davis as #2, it's time to bring in another back. Or 2.

Honestly I can see deuce and Kuhn 2.0 being the rb going into the season. Rojo could be the back up but I feel he will fall off and these two will push their way up the ladder. Davis I doubt makes it.
Agree with you about Luepke, but Dowdle and Jones should be included in camp comps with Davis, Vaughns there as well.
If Luepke can pass protect, plays STs then he becomes eligible quickly over Dowdle.
