There's a clear frontrunner for Cowboys RB2 job behind Tony Pollard

I don’t blame KM for the pancake of an offense second half SF when Pollard went down . That’s on MM the HC . SF should have seen a steady diet of Malik Davis with 21 spelling him occasionally .

With Ronald Jones plus Deuce out of K st this RB room looks like run by committee which makes Pollard even more dangerous .

I’m excited to see an OL that can dominate giving Dak an effective run game which will help his passing lanes and points on the board .

Expecting Jones or Davis to pick up the RB2 position effectively is like going into last season expecting Noah Brown was a capable #3.
And for a while he was. Then dropped off.

Well, this may not be a popular opinion for some. But Rush and Brown seemed to have a chemistry. But Dak and Brown as so much. So that may be why the drop off.

RJones likely the RB2. Even the RB1 if TonyP struggles due to the freak leg injury.

Almost all the other RBs are scrubs.
This.

Scrubs gonna scrub.

If RJones is looking worse than Davis, that says more about RJones than Davis.

Brown had over half the receiving yards in game 1 with Dak, and then produced well over the next 3 games with Rush.

Over the first 4 games, 274 yards on 27 targets for 10+ypt.

He delivered, and I'm sure he was still blocking well.

After the first 4 games, he only had 4 more 40+ games.

End of the season was really grim. Don't know what happened.

UDFA JAG.
If they're playing up Davis as #2, it's time to bring in another back. Or 2.

Yeah, I don't think it's clear at all.

The draft just played out the way it went. The backs that they would have taken were of the board each time their pick came up.
That doesn't even make sense.

If you need the RB, you take him. Waiting until the round he was projected in would be extremely foolish

Davis was receiving time with the first unit to see where he was for now...
And because he's the only other back returning from last year who wasn't injured.

You don't put a guy you are paying pretty much the vet minimum in front of a returning player in these kinds of workouts. You make them earn their role, same with Vaughn. You're new, so you start out low man and work your way up. Davis is being rewarded for now with being the No. 3 back all last season. Maybe he'll earn the No. 2 role, but these early lineups don't mean much.

Not with the outstanding players on the board that they drafted. I think that they would have taken Robinson at 26 or Bigsby at 90.

I do like what little we seen of Davis last year. It will be interesting to see his progress.
Right. I don't think we should count him out just because he's a UDFA. He might prove to be the best of the rest. What I liked about him last year was his ability to negotiate traffic, which showed he has good vision and footwork. His speed and power are nothing special.

We may end up in trouble if Ronald Jones ends up RB 2 and in real trouble if he ends up RB 1 if Pollard struggles due to his injury because I’m not convinced Jones isn’t a scrub. He’s done little the past two seasons.

I don't understand what you are trying to say.
You said we were going to take a RB, but the one we were going to take in each round was gone. Now you're saying the players we took were too outstanding to take a RB. Confusing.

The backs that the would have taken at a certain spot were gone in each and every round. They still ended up with a good back in Vaughn. They didn't reach and got good players.

I'm very familiar with low man on the totem as well as no time in grade!

Good observation there...I've been the 'rook' on a football team as well, lol.

Dallas will find out this season they screwed up at RB, just as they found out they screwed up on WR last season.
Screwed up as in by repeating Zeke or by not bringing in a better FA?

I would assume the latter because Zeke was done. Mostly anyone can get the 2 yard runs he gave us.

Not a huge fan of Davis. He runs straight and as hard as he can at the expected hole. While that can be an upgrade over Zeke at times, he didn't show much ability to break tackles, change direction and no real ability to set up blockers or be patient when necessary.

I continue to be concerned by RB2. I don't think that its necessarily going to be worse than last year but Dallas had a chance to get better here and may have not done so.
