Did I hear right that he's a three year engineer? If so that's amazing.

I'd prefer someone other than Bell.

Yep,....not your typical big ugly. He is known as being extremely smart.

Running back in the second/third? Lol Alfred Morris laughing his butt off. Now tell me the last late round safety worth anything.

Ive seen every snap that Travis has played in his college career. Trust me,...you guys will end up being more than happy with him. He might have been over drafted a bit,...but truth is,...this is a strange draft.

Heres my take on Frederick. In all honesty,...I do think he makes a better guard than center. Dont get me wrong,...he was very good at center last year,...he just didnt quite jump out at me as much as he did the year before at guard. This guy is a mauler,...a REAL mauler. One of the strongest guys in college football. He was squatting over 700 pounds as a sophomore. VERY smart too. Bright future ahead.....

Which leads me to......TODAY!

Some wont like it,...but I say we go ahead and FINALLY for once and for all fix this hot mess of an offensive line that has been holding us back for YEARS!

With our first pick today, we go ahead and take one of my favorite players in the entire draft. Brian Schwenke , CENTER from Cal. You plug him in at center day ONE , line up Frederick next to him at GUARD and go ahead and sign Winston at R.T and its a whole new ball game. The days of getting pushed around at the LOS and not being able to run the ball are OVER!

Now for our two third rounders today.......

3 .A.....Benny Logan D.T LSU

3.B....Laveon Bell R.B Michigan state. Power runner, ramrod type. Should fit in nicely in a rotation with Murrey.

No safety you say? Cant help it. Too many holes and not enuff picks. Just the way it is sometimes. Cant do it all in one draft. Gonna have to take one later OR pick someone up during camp who gets cut from another team.

But one thing for sure.....that O line is FINALLY FIXED!

I would not hate adding Schwenke, although I would take Cyprien myself if he is there at 47. I think with these 3 picks today I want to see combination of S, DT and another OL.

Forget skill position till later on or not at all. We can get a RB in the 4th or later. Same with WR.

I would rather have Warford at 47 than Schwenke and keep Frederick at C. With Frederick at C and Warford at RG, they would finally have a power runnng game. If they don't take Warford at 47, I would consider Bailey with one of the extra 3rd rounders.

Frederick's fine, but could have been had much later. Thus, the pick sucks.

i had him as our second round pick in one of my scenarios. If he starts day 1. Whats the problem?

I like the pick man. We basically began this draft in the fashion that many of us hoped we would... On the Oline. The negative nancies just like to be negative. It keeps them comfy in their skin. If we keep picking quality offensive linemen and somehow manage to snag my SC boys Lattimore and Swearinger, I will be on cloud nine.

Im not directing this at anyone in particular,..so nobody take offense.

Football is primarily won and lost at the LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. I could care less what anyone else says either...they are flatly WRONG. There was a time not so long ago that most fans KNEW this fact. Not so anymore. Tell ya what,....its about DAMN time they learn! Doesnt matter if its 1973 or 2013,....control the LOS ....CONTROL the game. You ALWAYS build a team from the inside out. ALWAYS. Least if you wanna win anything anyway.

That is all........... ;)

AH,

Good the hear this. When I first heard the pick, I was happy that we didn't go for a position that wasn't a critical need. I just didn't know enough about him to feel one way or another.

Now I'm hearing that the guy is strong, intelligent, and maybe slow, but who the hell cares about fast? If he can anchor and keep Tony upright in the pocket and open holes in the running game, then our offense will destroy people.

Did we pick him high...sure, a little, but we also collected another pick for moving down, combine the 2 and you have the potential to strike gold.

I like it.

Check out the vids I dropped in a little earlier. The center footage is good,...but the guard stuff is GREAT! He manhandled Ohio State for the most part. Like I say,...kid was squatting over 700 pounds as a sophomore.

He has that nice thick legged blocky build too, a guy that can really anchor in and not get pushed around.

i could go with this plan

i am not necessarily upset at the player, just the combination of the idiotic trade down and then picking travis

of course, if he is our starting OG day one and starts for us for a long time, he will have been worth the #31 pick and if calahan wanted him then you ave to listen

in round 2, i would love schwenke (hopefully in a trade down to puck up an extra rd 4 or 5 becasue i think a few OL will be available there that can play OT but are injured)

we could still go

rd 2: schwenke
3a: bennie logan
3b: JJ wilcox

How do you know he could have been had much later? Because the draft "experts" that said that Sharrif Floyd was a top 5 pick and by far the best DT in the draft said so?

Here is a hint, NFL teams draft boards, and the draft boards of the so called "draft experts" usually are NOT the same thing. Mike Mayock all but admitted, that the reason that Sharrif Floyd fell was because teams just didn't think he was as good as the hype the media made him out to be....

I am fine with the pick since it's possible as the top center that he would not have been there at 47.

Still don't like the trade down, though. What was the problem with Floyd and/or Williams?

IMO it was a much better pick than Pugh or Long who are guards only and were taken a dozen picks higher. And we added a third to boot

Scwenke is a good prospect, but I want more power. Both Warford and Bailey have much more power in the run game. Frederick and Warford next to each other would be my wet dream. I really liked Frederick but did not think he would make it to Dallas with their 2nd pick. He will be a real anchor at Center and he is very very smart, something that is lacking in the current Oline.

You can not fix this OL in one draft. You're talking about 4 of the 5 positions filled by players who can't play. It's not realistic to think you're going to find 4 starters there in one draft.

Now had we not wasted 1st and 2nd round picks last year and/or 50 million dollars in free agency, we might be a lot closer to providing the franchise QB some legitimate protection up front and an actual viable running game.
