Just watching those highlight vids, I like what I see in his run blocking. Saw him get to the second level very nicely any number of times. Not worried about his 40 time at all. I'm also not worried about where he was drafted. The Cowboys had him rated as the top player on their board when they drafted, so I have no problem with them taking him there. Just because we, or Mayock, or whoever said he belonged elsewhere is irrelevant. I like the pick.

IMO it was a much better pick than Pugh or Long who are guards only and were taken a dozen picks higher. And we added a third to boot

Neither Pugh or Long are Gs only. Especially Pugh.

Justin Pugh will have a good career with the Giants.

Scwenke is a good prospect, but I want more power. Both Warford and Bailey have much more power in the run game. Frederick and Warford next to each other would be my wet dream. I really liked Frederick but did not think he would make it to Dallas with their 2nd pick. He will be a real anchor at Center and he is very very smart, something that is lacking in the current Oline.

I'll tell ya what REALLY sold me on Schwenke. He was absolutely DOMINANT at the senior bowl workouts AND in the game. Ragdolled everyone they put in front of him,...again, in the blocking drills AND the game itself. LOVE the kid!

i could go with this plan

i am not necessarily upset at the player, just the combination of the idiotic trade down and then picking travis

of course, if he is our starting OG day one and starts for us for a long time, he will have been worth the #31 pick and if calahan wanted him then you ave to listen

in round 2, i would love schwenke (hopefully in a trade down to puck up an extra rd 4 or 5 becasue i think a few OL will be available there that can play OT but are injured)

we could still go

rd 2: schwenke
3a: bennie logan
3b: JJ wilcox

Why was it an idiotic trade down? Because Sharrif Floyd was a top 5 pick according to the "draft experts". Guess what, Mike Mayock all but admitted on TV, that the reason he got from NFL teams on why Floyd was falls, is because the NFL teams just didn't think Floyd was as good as his hype.

Look, people are saying that he had a second round grade but the 31st pick is as close to the second round as your going to get. I really don't get into 40 times with interior linemen as I just don't think it matters all that much. Let's see this kid in action before we decide if it was a bad pick or not. This is coming from a person that's not a big fan of our management.

Thanks for the info, this is good to here from someone that watched this kid regularly.

What weight did he play at last yr vs the year he played guard? The same power is there, but at guard he looks much more athletic.

pretty much everything I read on Pugh was that he could not play T in the NFL

People are assuming that because of arm length. I think he could play RT. I know he can play C.

He was actually HEAVIER at guard. He lost a " little" weight to play center last year to be able to pull from that spot.

He has played guard too. If Dallas drafts him, I would love the fact that him and Frederick have both played guard and center. Essentially you could get your three best linemen out there. Who ever sucks less between Bernadeau, Livings, and Costa could get out there and the center of the Oline would be solidified.

Phil Costa is a power house, arm length makes a difference.

I will always wonder if Romo said anything during contract talks about upgrading the OL.

i had him as our second round pick in one of my scenarios. If he starts day 1. Whats the problem?

The problem is that not only could we have had a day 1 starter in Frederick, we could have also had another one in addition to Frederick with the 31st pick. Another botched up draft by Jerry and Co.

Yeah, the beard is nice. And without it, he'd look way too much like Big Ben Rothlisberger which is not nice, lol.

Frederick's fine, but could have been had much later. Thus, the pick sucks.

That's so easy to say, but the truth is, you don't know that. Nobody does, except the teams themselves. If we liked him there, it's likely someone else did, too.

Again, how do you know that "other pick we could have had" would be a day one starter? How do you know 47 won't be? Making a lot of assumptions about things you think you know, but don't.

Good to hear kind words about the guy. The truth is that early on I really did like Frederick, but never considered him in the 1st round. I think the circumstances is why people are upset, not because of the player. How we got to 31, who was passed on and finally the selection was just a perfect storm.

You hit the nail on the head, sir. Every word of it.

And the same can be said for you, I think.

The bottom line is that this was a reach in round 1. Maybe #47 will be a day 1 starter, but i feel a lot better with a player with a 1st round grade at 31. I don't know about you.

Given the run on OL, how do you know he would have been there at #47?

In listening to the press conference, we went into the draft with our #1 priority if the players on the board allowed, was to upgrade the interior of the OL. Which is what people on this board have been complaining about for the past several years.

When it got to #18, there wasn't anyone on the board that we felt was to good to pass up. Reading between the tea leaves, had we been forced to make the pick at #18, it probably would have been Floyd. But, they felt that OL was a bigger need, and the ability to get a 3rd round pick, and move back and still hopefully fill our need at interior OL was of more value that drafting Floyd, given that we have Jay Ratliff and Jason Hatcher at DT right now.

When we made the trade, we supposedly had two interior OL guys we rated as value at the #31 area, and one of them was Fredrick. This board has been complaining for years that Jerry and the staff doesn't value OL, and when the draft dictates that OL are going to be drafted higher that most "experts" thing, we do not adjust and go get the OL. But then when we do, the board complains because it is not a value pick, according to some online draft "expert"
