There's nothing wrong with 3-3

The problem really is that this is an NFC game, which means it matters more than the Steelers game in that respect since that is a high level tiebreaker.

A loss would give the Lions a head-to-head tiebreaker advantage and would further lower the Cowboys NFC record.

The Cowboys have 3 wins this year .. 2 of the 3 have been against AFC opponents, so in the NFC, they are currently 1-1.

Of course the season is not over if they lose today, but it would really help if they win this game.
If we are talking about SB's, the season was over before it started.

I would normally agree with ya, but it’s the way their 3 losses occurred. They were never seriously in any game from the 1st quarter on, and they were home games. It’s one thing for it to be a single game. Those kind of games happen. But the issues that led to those 3 losses aren’t easily rectified. It is inconceivable this team will be a playoff team. Sure, it’s possible, but nobody in their right mind would bet money they couldn’t afford to lose they would.
If we agree this isn’t a very good team Id argue 3-3 isn’t a bad place to be . It’s likely to get worse.

We are on the same page. I’m not a negative fan, but it is almost assuredly going to get worse. I’ll gladly eat my helping of crow if I’m wrong.

The reality unfortunately is Jethro has lowered the bar this era .

And it could get worse . But for now we’re lucky to be 3-3.
I hope it does get worse! What good does it do to go 9-8 and get smashed in the first round of the playoffs?

I don’t have a problem being 3-3. You win and lose football games. I just don’t like the way the saints and lions losses looked. Plain and simple, that’s bad football.

Good post but the Cowboys win over Pittsburgh wasn't an upset. And there won't be a loss today to be unashamed of. Just gotta take one game at a time and treat each game as a crucial one. No half measures. Always play to win. Go Cowboys!!!!!
Play to win???
Did you watch them play to win against Detroit?
Cause what I saw was Cee Dee Scam and Parsons laughing it up with other players on the sidelines.
Blame the coaching? Sure… but how about blaming the players who don’t give a damn about winning…

Good post. Being 3-3 is not bad, but in what context? What is sobering is the gap between us and good teams. We will not be able to do it this year with smoke and mirrors during the regular season...only to get beat down in the playoffs. It is obvious early on (regardless of 3-3) that this is a bad football team. This is the worst team we have fielded in years.

It is hard for me to tell what the plan is. Because we have downgraded the talent on this team every year since the loss in the playoffs to the 49ers 3 years ago. How do you plan to take the next step when you reduce the talent on the team year after year?

I am not a Dak lover or hater. I have a pretty good idea who he is. Dak was never going to be a QB that can win you 4 straight postseason games in a single Super Bowl run. But guess what? There is only 1 or 2 QBs that can!!!!!!!!! So the majority of the NFL is in the same boat in that regards. That is why a competent GM is needed to figure out the right coach and roster construction to put the pieces together to give yourself a chance. Not write a check for Dak and CD...then sit back and complain when they can't take make this crap roster work. Football is not a sport that works like that. Unlike basketball...where if you have a generational talent (Lebron or Jordan)....you can add 4 other players on the floor and give yourselves a chance.

Other teams have figured out how to pay their best players Ravens (Lamar) and still add a Derrick Henry......or the Eagles (Hurts, Smith and Brown) and still add a Barkley....49ers (Samuels, McCaffery, Kittle) and extend Ayouk. Dallas is not being forced to play by a set of rules that are different than everybody else. Other teams are just better at it. And it starts at the top!!!!!!!!!!

Our trenches stinks. Bad. I thought with the addition of these rookies we would be better by now. It’s time to get rid of this O-Line coach. Didn’t like him from the beginning. We need to be a power team.

Our D-Line is just not good. And we don’t play much worse when our starters are out. I don’t see JJ getting any help.

Looking at the rest of the schedule I see at most 4 more wins. I think they will beat the Giants and Panthers. They could beat the Eagles once, and the Bengals. Then there is the last game of the season against the Commanders. It would be just like the Cowboys to win that game and ruin their high draft pick, but I also think Washington may need that game to win the division or to improve their playoff position.

So the Cowboys could win between 5 and 8 games this year, but I am sticking to my initial prediction of 6 wins. If they lose the next 5 coming up, including the Commanders, I can see this team going into a tailspin. I do not see this team making the playoffs or coming close to winning the division regardless of who returns from injury.

Speaking of injuries, the injury bug seems to strike a couple of teams every year. This year it looks like the Cowboys will deal with it. I wonder if Lawrence and Kneeland come back as scheduled. I am wondering if Martin is on the verge of taking some time off. Bland was due to come back then had a "setback" whatever that means. Little details have followed as to what that means. Will he miss more time? Carson coming back means nothing. He was getting picked on before he went out.

I am embracing our off year and looking forward to the draft. We could really use a year of drafting early in each round. Perhaps we can get some much needed pass rush help, a legit WR and a RB in the next draft.

Considering it’s not likely that this dysfunctional ownership will take advantage of a more favorable draft position I’m not sure like most teams we can argue a worse record enables us to become better. At least in the same manner we see across the league .

So for me , I’d rather have at least 17 meaningful games . Nothing worse for me than season over by Thanksgiving

I think most saw us at 2-4 headed into the bye . And all of the negative rhetoric which would have followed. Our big surprising upset of Pittsburgh on the road provides us some leeway.

3-3 is manageable. If you’d of told me 3-3 with our schedule heading into season , I’d of took it.

We need to be rooting hard for Balt today. A win by Ravens and we are still only 1 game back in division, assuming we lose of course. And if Egirls win only a half game behind them. I don’t give Browns much chance.

So all in all not a bad place to be . We still have both games left with Wash & Phil ( who doesn’t look daunting )and another game with NY. Also have Atlanta, Tampa and Carolina left. Cinn and SF which I had chalked as losses aren’t as worrisome as originally thought. Houston may be like a road game for us. Im not interesting in dissecting these just a broad speculation.

I see potentially 5 or 6 more wins . We should still be in playoff hunt and maybe division. 8-10 wins( yea 10 is probably a little option right now) keeps us alive .

Who knows . If we get everyone back healthy maybe we could make a run. Not that we’d do much in playoffs but better to have meaningful games than not. No reason to get down after a loss today. No shame in losing to better teams .
3-3 wasn't going to make anyone happy, but it would be viewed very differently if the losses were different.

Instead, they were blown out by NO and Detroit, and were really beat up most of the game against Baltimore, but scored late to make the game seem closer than it was.

Then, as for the wins, 2 of the 3 were against a couple of the worst teams in the NFL.

In short, the way the 3-3 was built doesn't inspire much hope that it will get better.

There was little to no hope from the beginning of FA.

I always have some level of hope unless I see things playing out on the field that indicate I shouldn't. And the team was 12-5 last year, so it's not as if they were on a downhill slide before free agency started.

Every year is different, and results can be different even with little change, or losing a player or two that were prominent the year before. There's a reason they play games instead of deciding outcomes on paper or by the feeling of fans.

No way do you pay Micah. He's already showing signs of coasting here and he's simply not the player he used to be.
Micah does not love the game. He loves podcasting. He has already said he wants to retire young. Why is retirement even a thought in his mind at this point???

I guess you erased the GB game from your memory.

That was not a slide. That was a fall off the cliff moment.

After that we only payed more money to players that were already on the team and lost several starters.
