I definitely think that Monk should be in.

That being said, Irvin is without a doubt more deserving.

true, but many points brought up earlier are very valid.

Monk was never the dominating WR Irvin was.........teams did not game plan to try and take Monk out of a game as they did Irvin........and Adam S brought up the same thing Spags did yesterday.........name a game or catch that defines Monk? We see Irvin all the time playing his best in the big games and we all know his catches...........name one that defines Monk.

Monk is a very good WR that played very good for a lot of years, which shows in his very good career stats, but I never considered him the dominating WR like Irvin or Rice or Carter (who gets in next year) were...........Monk will get in eventually, but them (ES homers) claiming Irvin was less of a WR is ridiculous..........put it this way, given a choice in their primes who would you take? Michael Irvin or Art Monk? I rest my case.

You mean the part where you said "in my heart I know Irvin was the better receiver?"

Or are you referring to where you pointed out that Monk played longer than Irvin. Apparently, longevity is a bad thing.

Compelling.

So you didnt read the post I made?

The fact that when taken in context of how many games they played Irvin was statistically dominant

Irvin led his team in receving yards 7 times
Monk 4 times

Irvin made the pro bowl 5 times
Monk 3 times

Irvin was top 10 in yards in the NFL 6 times
Monk 3 times

Irvin was top 10 in receving TDs in the NFL 5 times
Monk 1 time

Irvin was top 10 in yards from scrimmage 4 times
Monk never was

Both monk and Irvin finished top 10 in recptions 4 times

Monk averaged 56.8 yards per game
Irvin averaged 74.87 ypg

Monk averaged .30 TDs per game
Irvin averaged .41 TDs per game

Irvin had 7 seasons with over 1000 yards
Monk had 5

Irvin had 4.72 receptions per game
Monk averaged 4.2 rpg

Monk should be in- I'm sorry- it's crap. And the writers do hold grudges- if Monk had played for Pittsburgh he would be in.

No doubt he'd be in. And if he had a star on his helmet, he would have been in years ago, you and the rest of the cowboy fans on here know that.

I hope you are joking, we still have guys from the 70s that deserve to be in. Until the last 2 years we were one of the least represented of all the dyanasty teams

Actually, I doubt it. We've had our share of screws too. He might've gotten in after a 10 year wait, which it looks like might be the case anyway.

add to that Irvin's 47 100+ yard receiving games and his NFL record 11 games in a row in 1995 with 100+ yards receiving.......oh and he had 6 100+ yard receiving yard games in the post season..........

Monk will get in eventually, but Monk was never the dominant player Irvin was......as I stated earlier, given a choice of Art Monk or Michael Irvin in their primes, who would you take? Deep down even the Commander homers know they would take Irvin....they won't admit to it, but deep down they know it is true.

Monk will be in he was a very good WR over a long time period......Irvin was a great and dominant WR.

No doubt he'd be in. And if he had a star on his helmet, he would have been in years ago, you and the rest of the cowboy fans on here know that.

If this were the case Chuck Howley, Ed Jones, Cliff Harris, Harvey Martin, and Drew Pearson would've been inducted years ago, and Rayfield Wright would not have had to wait as long as he did. Think before you make ridiculous comments.

When we dominated in the 80's into the early 90's and won three sb's with 3 diff qb's, you think there'd be more than just one player, Riggins and our coach Joe Gibbs in the HOF. But nope, according to the voters, I guess we were just an average team that won sb's with average players.

Which has nothing to do with your ridiculous assertion that if he was a Cowboy he would have been elected

Is it possible that they dont think all the players were average they think they were very good just not HOF worthy?

Art Monk will get in but it won't be for a long time. He'll get in as a senior candidate because the voters will do exactly what the Commanders fans do.

They'll just look at all his stats and say he should be in. But the reason he'll get in as a senior candidate will be because all the voters at that point in time will not have seen him play and will have forgotten that he was just a very good receiver, not a great one.

So, just be patient Skins fans. The voters will go your way in the future. But they'll be wrong like all you fans.

Well it won't get any easier for Monk next year seeing how Cris Carter will be up.

they should be upset.

I would have been really disappointed if Irvin had not gone in this year. At the same time Monk deserves to be there as well. I don't think he deserves it more than Irvin but he deserves to be there.

I don't know another WR that brought to the table what Irvin did. I am not saying he is better than any of them, I'm saying he was unique as to his fire, enthusiasm, leadership, etc. He was the engine that drove the Cowboys during their SB run of the nineties.

I am well pleased that he made it. I can emphasize with the Commanders' fans regarding Monk. I felt that way last year.

As far as that goes we are still waiting for Bob Hayes turn.

Tell that to the WR that changed how secondaries covered WR. Bullet Bob Hayes.

Tell that to some of the Doomsday Defense Players.

BS.

I have heard and read reports of voters who would NOT vote for cowboys players.

Even Doctor Z gave up his right to vote and just sticks with the senior committee now.

How about people leave that board to them.

I see no reason to make fun of them on that board for being upset.

If Irvin did not get in and Monk did some on this board would be upset about it.
