We used to listen to this radio station on Long Island, WLIR, they played nothing but new wave, when the other stations wouldn't play the music, they put a lot of groups on the map, like Duran Duran, Blondie,Simple Minds, and The Fixx and billed themselves as the station that dared to be different, it was great until corporate america forced them off the air
So...80's music. They were MTV, without the visual aspect. That's a slight improvement.
BTW, what's up, Sulu? Don't see you around much!

If I had Mark Cuban kind of money, I would start an 80's music station that plays all of the great New Wave/80's music, and not just the most commercial Top hits.
The station wouldn't require a lot of overhead and staff. I think it would be profitable, but it would be more a blessing to the community with fun music.

Basketball.

I used to be a pretty fanatic Spurs fan. Then came the playoff series vs the Lakers. 2002, maybe? If you think NFL refs are bad, go watch some of those games!!!!! It was blatantly obvious they didn't want the boring ol' Spurs in the finals.

Lakers got easily creamed by the Pistons, BTW. Because they didn't belong there.

I think Jack FM had a similar start... focus on music, no DJ's or other costs like that. Then it changed slowly as advertisers started rolling in.

Wizard of Oz. I wanted there to be a real wizard. It had real witches, munchkins, flying monkeys, giants, a talking lion, tin man and lion and they couldn't make one wizard?

I also had the Wizard of Oz ruined for me, but for a different reason. I was living in NH, and my brother in law was doing some work to my car, so I came back to CT and stayed with him and my sister for a few days. My niece played that movie four times a day. It got to where I knew the script and songs by heart, which was really annoying.

Over saturation can kills some otherwise good or even great things. With music I got burned out on Taking Care of Business, Sweet Home Alabama and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Same here, except I can tolerate Bohemian Rhapsody, because it's just so damned good, and different.

It really is that damned good. I was completely enamored with it when it first came out, and was happy with the resurgence during and after Wayne’s World, but then came the Bohemian Rhapsody movie, and here we go again ...

I don’t dislike any of the songs I mentioned, but they have lost some of their shine for me.
