The only thing that irks me is when celebrities (in general, including pro athletes), try to use their platform to push whatever political agenda they may have.

I don't watch the NFL to hear the players' opinion of America, or anything non-football related for that matter. I watch because I like football.

Same applies to other sports or non-political events. I'm not tuning in to hear someone's agenda.

If a celebrity wants to go that route then they should use their resources to create some other avenue or forum for that.

I just think it's interesting that politics entered sports as soon as they paid to use the NFL for marketing/patriotic displays/military recruitment.

I like basilhayden, are not saying it is right or wrong, but the fans make the NFL what it is, spend their money, have loved ones that served and died in the military and their PERCEPTION is that it is disrespecting the flag and the national anthem. Obviously the percentage that the first several games is down from last year has made this obvious that the fans, the money spenders are tired of it and are voting with their money and that is what POTUS was refering to, although in a much stronger way than maybe he should have but that's just him. He speaks his mind and lets the chips fall where they may. He also mentioned the hits that players are taking and the concusions that are coming to light and the obvious damage to the NFL that the film had probably added some fuel to the fire.........Just my two cents!!!

Since we're playing ball (but I wholeheartedly agree with @SDCowboy85) --

Let the damned players do whatever they want. It effects me nada. I know I love America. I know there are injustices and respect players to stand, lock arms, sit, pick their noses.

I just want good football. Dallas to kick arse. What they do during the anthem has zero effect on the game once that opening kickoff commences.

Well said sir, let's all try to be a little like Trouty! Let's keep our all caps posts to talking about the Cowboys, we have plenty of reasons enough on that subject.

Heck, we can't even convince some posters that Kellen Moore isn't a terrible quarterback, so no one's gonna turn anyone's horse around on this subject anyway lol

Racism and Inequality for all are not "political agendas". They're not agenda's at all. It's the truth of how this country was built and this stain still here in 2017. I wish people cared more about the actual issues than how someone chooses to protest.

BTW, politics has always been a part of sports.
