21-17?
It's possible.
A lot depends on how we decide to attack you guys on defense. If we use the same strategy we used in game one last year, then I can see that happening.
But I don't think Wade will underestimate Campbell again. We focused on stopping Portis and really didn't feel Campbell would throw 50 passes. Last year, he played a very soft zone and refused to really send a lot of blitzers. We did the same thing with Rogers in our game vs GB last year. After Favre went out and Rogers came in, we got soft in our coverage...and stopped being aggressive with the rush.
Our d-line can rotate 8 guys through, and HB Blades is a solid 4th linebacker to plug in and spell Marcus Washington. Rocky and Fletcher-Baker are machines
Eight deep is a huge stretch....especially at DE. DT, I can see you getting help. But you don't have Daniels. Carter is good...there's no one on your team capable of spelling him. Sub him and that's just fine with us.
What I am counting on is wearing your o-line out, ala what the Gints did in the playoff game last year. Not to compare that d-line to ours, but that is part of my thinking, along with hoping that Romo gets impatient in the redzone and our guys can make some plays
Couple of points....
1. Your DL.....even your starters....is NO WHERE near as good as the Giants was last year. Heck, even the Giants' second string is better than your first. You don't have the guns to do that.
2. The "wearing our OL out strategy" by the Giants wasn't what really beat us. At halftime the Giants realized that Terry Glenn wasn't anybody to be afraid of. He wasn't nearly as explosive. They also realized that Owens wasn't fully healed from his injury. Their coaches took the advice of their players and single-covered Glenn, helped some on Owens. They then decided that they could bring the house on every play.
Again, this strategery only works if we are able to keep the game within a score in the 4th quarter, then we'll see if our tough training camp paid dividends
If our O ain't scoring, and its 21-7, well it was a waste of time and we may as well have just blitzed 9 guys every down
This is true.
But if we're driving down the field and holding the ball then how do you think your offense will score 17 points? They'll hardly see the field.
The Packers' offense is a whole lot better than yours and we were able to hold them to three field goals most of the game.
Anyway......like I said....anything's possible.
Washington does have a couple of things going for them here.
1. Romo just doesn't play as well at home.
2. We've turned the ball over quite a bit
3. We commit a ton of stupid penalties
4. Our run-defense isn't quite where I think it should be. I think a team could run it on us if they stayed committed to it.
Washington has a good team....really....but right now we're bigger, faster, and stronger at nearly every single position. But the team with the most talent doesn't always win.
