Respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree.

Even if you feel that way its not like we had to let him go, we could have brought them all back. WE'd be favorites to win the SB, Murray ate the Seahawks lunch last year and the packers just lost Jordy Nelson and their D is still weak

This idea that Murray was expendable is one of the most asinine things ive read in a long time. He was the perfect running back for our scheme and was a workhorse who never left the field. No clue what the FO was thinking, you are replacing him with Randle and a washed up DMC who hasnt been good in 4 years. WE had a chance to win the SB if we brought Murray back, now our identity is muddled bc of the RBs we have on the roster.

I think the Cowboys were trying to be responsible with the cap. I think they knew the payout to get Dez signed was going to be a pretty big hit and there was no way they were going to pay out 8 mill a year on Murray as well. If the Cowboys made any mistake in my view on Murray was offering a lowball offer at the get go. I think had Dallas been aggressive in their dealings with Murray early they could have gotten a deal done around the 6 mill dollar range. I think Cowboys did intend to try and match offers on the open market until Philly was willing to pay out the 8.

As for the chance to get to the SB, I think that chance still there. I have been a big Murray supporter and still am but I think part of the Cowboys turn around is how you do business and how you manage your cap.

DMC will get hurt like he always does and Randle cant carry a heavy work load. Simple common snese

You can guess that McFadden will suffer injury at some point this season based on his history, and like any player it's entirely possible that he will, but whether it actually happens or not remains to be seen.

Nobody knows what Randle can and cannot do. Could be that he's a 5-carry-a-game player, but you don't know that for a fact any more than I do.

Murray was good for us last year. There's not a player on the team that can replace what he gave us. But there are RBs on the team who can do things Murray can't too, and I'm not about to bury them, much less the entire team, three weeks before the first snap.

That's common sense.

I think retaining Murray and resigning Dez would have been difficult if we wanted to fix other parts of the team going forward. I am sure that no one wanted to see Murray back in Dallas more than Jerry Jones, Jason Garrett and the rest of the Cowboys organization. They chose fiscal responsibility instead. If Philly were paying a franchise QB and WR, I doubt they'd have paid Murray what they did, either.

Had we signed Murray, the "reality check" we'd need would be that you can't sign aging vets to big contracts and that Jerry never learns.

I'm quite happy trading RBs for pass rushers, thanks.

Niiiiiiice!

I appreciate the time and effort you put into this investigation and report.

I have come to the conclusion that the bad guy in this scooby mystery is Rowdy and he would have gotten away with it if not for DallasEast and his dog.

I agree that not having Murray is going to hurt this year - I think even cost a play off spot AND there was no way the Cowboys would have paid him what the Eagles did. The Eagles will not use him as much and he will be an effective 1200 yard runner, and the rest of their backs will put up another 1000.

A visit to the Fan Zone in late August of last year is all the reminder we need.
