This season, if Dunbar comes back early enough, should be top notched in production. They should be the driving force for all teams on the carpet to keep up with.

With a top notched running group, I think that Tony Romo is just that good over the entire season. :)

Dunbar has already been replaced, his role was in the passing game and elliot can do everything he does.

I do not doubt Romo or the offense at all. I think this offense should be one of the best groups in the league the problem is we are playing all of the other great offenses.

Hint: don't count Dunbar out, and Jackson is strictly on a try out basis. Quite a difference. There is a reason why good money was put up for a roster spot for Dunbar... no matter the clamor around the burn barrel.

Set up 3rd downs with Dunbar and our 'smurf'' and just watch how linebackers and safeties start to cry. Think again...much more is being added to the arsenal, and that provides season long flexibility.

Forget what a one trick pony looks like?

No matter how much the defense might or might not improve, we passed up significant chances to make it better.

Bet...this defense has turned the proverbial corner, already.

One gets what he pays for...and the Cowboys have assembled what has potential to be top three in the league. Let people start to chase the Cowboys, and see how predictability and a realisticly improved defense sets the table. I'm not getting into semantics when logic is already sound.

No way of knowing. It had a long way to go, no matter what.

It was dumb to neglect helping it this year in the first two rounds.

Cutting dunbar costs the team like 150k towards the cap. He had two incredibly serious surgeries.

Elliot is the do everything back, mcfadden is the do everything back in case and morris is a damn good runner in this system who will get snaps.

Rod smith to fullback allows them to keep a special teamer active and find roles for him in the offense. Last year they used smith on special teams and as a HB they split him out repeatedly.

I can't see dunbar making the roster if we get out of camp with elliot, morris and mcfadden healthy.

Dunbar is small, injury prone, and in the most physically punishing position in sports. He made it through 2014 because they hardly had to use him and if he is in over Zeke in the shotgun package I will be annoyed as hell. Add that he stinks on ST because he gets blown up without return ability and I cannot wait to see him out the door.

Uhh what? one trick pony? Is this in reference to zeke? Not sure what you are misunderstanding about zeke but the first thing gary brown said about him was how good he is in the passing game and how he ran routes like a wr. Zeke has replaced dunbar in the passing game. The team will get him rehabbed and ready to play and then most likely waive him or trade him if possible. We have only 6 picks of next years draft, dunbar maybe could bring us back a conditional 7th or something.

You are trying to explain away Dunbar, instead of seeing why he was retained. He had some injury in his first two seasons. Smith was a quality drafted WR, that predominantly was injured in his first three season...left, and became an All Pro for about eight seasons. Naw, New England cashed in upon the last cast away smurf that had real open field abilities, as roles for smurfs weren't fully developed then. Today's passing game fits their skills well, and Dunbar is a special player, still.

What, you expect Jackson to have more special team appeal to counter a dominant role in a legitimate passing attack?

No, the number of plays will be shared. The lead running back will be in the neighborhood of 20 plays. There will be plenty to go around, and an entire season to use them all. Don't short change the man, he is good as a runner and greater as a receiver.

Dunbar isn't the one trick...quite trying to spend more effort at explaining away things.

Probably, Elliott can be used for three plays in a drive. He won't be doing that throughout at game, or in all situations or against all teams. Flexibility is what will prove the litmus, when final wins are tallied.

Again, don't sell Dunbar short. He would first have to be beaten out as to potential, by a Jackson. That is a long story down the road, and has to be walked, to discard a valid Dunbar now. He's a good addition to roster. That has been proven.

No, Elliott doesn't walk on water yet, and hasn't displaced Dunbar. That will have to be measured and evaluated as to team directions, from not to conclusion of Training Camp.

Another position to elicit interest in...but no funerals, just yet.

He was retained so that if they didn't get elliot or whichever RB in the draft besides Zeke they thought the most highly of they were covered They signed morris for the same reason. They have no snaps for dunbar as of right now with the other three healthy.

as far as jackson goes, They must have a role in mind for him to have used a draft pick on him. I am not quite sure what that is. Having 5 Backs active on game day is too many, but he could be inactive all year and then replace mcfadden next season allowing the team not to have to use resources on a back next offseason.

You work too hard to disprove the man...just wait and watch. There are a lot of options...and tight end might have the final say on how many running backs are retained. But for now, my money is on Dunbar.

I think your misunderstanding here is that you think Dunbar is competing with jackson for a roster spot. I honestly don't see that as the case. Its zee's abilities as a pass catcher and blocker that will get him on the field in dunbar's possible spots. McFadden can also do all of this.

I have no beef with dunbar but he has been replaced by a stud and a proven veteran in mcfadden.

if you think elliot can't handle more than 3 plays in a drive then I kind of think you need to spend some time watching him play.

Not trying to disprove him but he struggles to stay healthy and in 2014 with a lead back he was never used. There was no role for him essentially.

if this team decides to keep a fifth tight end dunbar has zero chance at a roster spot unless escobar goes to pup.

Get a glass of cold water. I stated reasons...and who just do you think is going to return punts?

I think lucky whitehead will grow into that role just as harris did. I expect whitehead to have the same type of growth and trajectory as harris.

dunbar is not returning punts here.

Heck, until he got injured, he was carrying the passing game for the Cowboys this past season. His injuries won't last for ever on what is still a pretty young player.

Why, because Whitehead will take both the return and punts? Not likely

Your math is poor...two went on a linebacker. And then three and four on the defensive line...

No it's not. I said 'this year.' And I didn't say anything at all about picks from the 3rd or 4th rounds.
