Just gotta create more turnovers man and be more opportunistic.

That's what killed the defense last year. Get the ball!

It's surprising to me how many people think it was horrible in 2015.

I gotta question: Why did the Cowboys play Tampa Bay 2 times in 1990?

Back when teams were in 5 team divisions the previous year last place teams had to play each other twice

Lmao you missed last year apparently. When will you guys realize he's a dumb, average player?

We played last year underweight because of the knee surgeries he had. He's going into this year healthy and back up to his playing weight. I guess you missed that apparently

I don't think the defense will be that good even if it is.

Look at the schedule. NY, Washington, Pittsburgh, Cincy, Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit, Chicago, baltimore.

plus the unknown of philly.

Those teams can score 30 + on good defenses when healthy.

I just want the defense to be good enough to get the stop we need in the fourth quarter and get the ball back to romo to win the game or take the ball and play keep away.

I think its asking too much of this defense against the quarterbacks and offenses we are playing this year. 2014 was a magical year in part because of the bad qb's and offenses we played in St.louis, Jacksonville, titans, Houston plus a giants team learning a new offense and chicago basically in the midst of the bottom dropping out on them.

I am sure the defense will have its moments but I just don't see how they slow this group of teams down and playing at GB, Minnesota, Pittsburgh doesn't help matters.

Probably worth mentioning that Carolina had a great defense in 2013.

Given any thought about how tough it was last season, to get a big play on a defense that has improved even more today?

Now excellerate with an offense that should produce on all cylinders like no team since the Dynasty.

Now who are you kidding about being dominated by what is still mediocre stuffed lists as was presented above?

No need to do the magical lantern routine, when the whole secondary is again able to shut down deep plays...but with Scandrick back, they'll start moving effectiveness towards the line of scrimmage as well.

I'll be watching how the combinations of Lawrence/Irvin and Gregory/Mayowa do from the beginning to end of this up coming season.

We'll see how many 3rd and longs get completed in front of Mo this year.

You betting a discussion on THAT? How about if there are less than 3 completions of over 20 meters charged to Morris Claiborne...that's my bet. Anything over that number, is YOUR bet. The loser has to at the conclusion of the regular season, state in a thread on site, that he was an idiot for doubting the other's statement.

Let's go...or get real.

Jones and the return of Scandrick will help but with Church/Wilcox, McClain, and the like patrolling the middle of the field, I see more of the same porous coverage up the gut that we've had for what seems like a decade. I've been watching TE, RB, and slot receivers roach us for so long that I will believe the contrary when I see it.

Run defense will be better at least but if you cannot stop the pass your ability to win is severely hampered. Puts the onus on Romo to score quickly and that has not been a recipe for success.

3 in 16 games is really in his favor bro. Even elite corners can give up 3 over the course of a season

Naw, I think he, Claiborne, is that skill level before the season starts. AND, I'm not afraid to put my wallet where my mouth is...go with what I stated.

The ability to limit big plays was the strongest part of last year's defense. That has improved...which is the indicator being ignored.

Hell I'm a Claiborne fan myself. But you know how someone wiffing on their assignment can make a different player look bad even when the play wasnt on them. If church or somebody plays out of their lane and Mo expects safety help then boom it looks like mo blew it. That happened a couple times in that 2014 Rams game. But yeah I think Claiborne is gonna kill it this year

Not so fast, Fuzzy...Jones will be the deep force in the secondary and have the entire year to 'assume the position.' Scandrick already will upgrade the ability of this defense to regularly be more affective closer to the line of scrimmage. Now, Church is an adequate strong safety type, and when mixed with Carr and Claiborne in packages, can effective protect a zone.

Even last season, an umbrella top was consistently effective through games. Scandrick and year two for Jones should improve that aspect significantly.

Im not sure how to respond to this I don't quite understand what you are saying.

I will say this though The 07 offense was as good as the 90's offense. they scored a ton of points and could score from anywhere on the field at anytime. The 09 and 11 offenses were very good. The 14 offense was similar to the 90's offenses in style of play but still not as explosive as that 07 offense.

This years offense has a chance if healthy to play like the 14 team's style but to be as explosive and productive as the 07 team.

That was the part stated, accredited to...not hypothesized about. :)

I'll be excited to watch direction in this entire defense...they just might get nasty by mid-season.

This season, if Dunbar comes back early enough, should be top notched in production. They should be the driving force for all teams on the carpet to keep up with.

With a top notched running group, I think that Tony Romo is just that good over the entire season. :)

You lost me when you said Church was adequate. When was the last time you remember him making a play on a passed ball? He had a ball tip right to him in 2014 is what I remember. Dude just cannot drive on throws and it makes him an easy read.

Jones will help but Wilcox already capped the top pretty well as you say; my concerns is the soft spots up the hashes and between the S and the LB where we have been killed for years. Jones needs to start making plays on the ball too. Scandrick has notoriously bad hands of stone.
