I'm sure I can expect to be beat about the head and neck for showing a little optimism around here right now, and I'll admit that I've been pretty down on the Cowboys myself after their poor showing against San Diego. However, I actually wonder a little bit whether the Broncos are really as good as people say they are. I'm not saying they're not good. I'm not even saying they're not one of the best teams in the league. However, you'd think they were the best team ever created if you watch the media coverage of them right now. What catches my eye is who they've played so far:

Baltimore -- Not a good team
Giants -- A terrible team
Oakland -- Not a good team
Eagles -- A terrible team

Yes, I understand that the Broncs destroyed each of these teams, but do you think Dallas would be 2-2 if they played this schedule? I don't.

To me, if the Cowboys play defense, offense, and special teams more like they played against New York and St. Louis and less like they played against Kansas City and San Diego, Dallas might have at least a slim chance of winning this game and will at minimum keep it close. Another thing to keep in mind is that the Chiefs and Chargers games were away games played in pretty hostile atmospheres (Kansas City more so than San Diego, I'll grant you) while this Denver game is going to be played in Dallas ... where the Cowboys played good football against the Giants and Rams.

...just some stuff to think about...

It would be GREAT if we could dismantle him like we did to cabbage patch doll-looking brother.

It starts with not allowing his WRs to get comfortable and beating them up off LOS.

The Cowboys have a chance just like each of us have a chance at winning the powerball. I actually believe it is more plausible that I will hit the lottery before this current Cowboys team beats Denver on Sunday. Dallas is just too inconsistent on both sides of the ball to really believe that they will win this game, but hey, anything is possible I guess.

Their one road game this season, the Giants were down by only 1 point late in the 3rd quarter. If Dallas can do that, we have a shot. The key will be to make Denver and Peyton Manning play under some sort of game pressure.

I was reading on this very site the other day that this Denver team is being considerd among the all time greats.

If Denver can control the clock, we are in big trouble. We just don't have quality depth on the DL.

Good point.

Baltimore is 2-2 with one of the wins against Cleveland and one of the losses against the Bills. They lost a lot of players in the off-season.

The other 3 (Giants, Oakland and the Eagles) are definitely a mess at this point.

I love my SQUAD and I do think we are a potential 10+ win team this SEASON but we are in no right to say the Ravens, Eagirls and Oakland are bad teams when we are just as inconsistent as they are. Are we better than those teams? I'd like to think so but we sure didn't look better than them this past Sunday that's for sure. It depends on what team shows up this Sunday.

Baltimore isn't a good team? Not quite sure about that.

Balt at least at this point is not the same SB team from last season there are a lot of missing parts that helped them get there. Saying that Denver did what a good team does and that is blew these teams out. I do think the notion that Dallas stands no chance is a non sense.

Philly loses to both KC and SD. Beat the Commanders but lose to Denver, putting them at 1-3 and they're a "terrible team".

Dallas loses to both KC and SD. Beat the Giants and beat St. Louis, getting to 2-2 but Dallas isn't a "terrible team".

I guess if Dallas beats Denver not as bad wouldn't you say?

We have a chance but we're just too inconsistent. It's the MO of the Cowboys.

I hope it's a good game.

Did we really play that great against New York? New York did everything in their power to shoot themselves in the foot with an array of turnovers and yet still nearly won the game because we couldn't put them away. And in that game although the defense got plenty of turnovers, the pass defense was being shredded. Much as it was against San Diego.

I agree. It should only be 38-17 Broncos. There's no way our defense stops Manning. Slow him down to 38 pts. is the best we can hope for.

So, there's obviously some dispute over just how bad Denver's opponents have been. Let's discuss a question I asked in the OP -- if Dallas played Denver's schedule, would they be 2-2? Honestly, if Dallas played Baltimore (in Dallas), Philly, Oakland, and the Giants this season and wasn't 4-0 ... I'd be a little disappointed. We only have one common opponent and both teams beat them handily.
