To be honest, I see 1 pick thats very likely to produce and become a star, two that potentially can become contributors and maybe starters and a bunch of maybes. The TE is a way long shot and I dont see him even making the 53 man roster. This aint close to the best draft class we have. As mentioned above the dirty dozen is what I measure all draft classes against. Course three to five years from now will tell the tale, but as of right now I would not rank this in the top ten. Just being frank. Not knocking the enthusiasm but its just way too early to say something like this. This reeks of homerism, not that theres anything wrong with that. But realistically its an average at best draft class. If Dak and Jaylon turn out to be all stars (Zeke being one for sure) then we can look back and say maybe the best of the Jones era, or top three. but right now. we are lucky if this turns out to be just average.

First let me say draft show was absolutely correct in saying this draft was run by GM who had 100% job security. It means Jerry swung for the fences without hesitation that his job was on line. Now lets get into why I think this draft will rank in tops all-time for Dallas. It comes down to three players:

1. Elliot- how can you not like this pick. Character player with plus talent in all facets of position. Possibly extends Romo career if he can truly keep pocket clean and can pick up bunch of 3rd downs (usually when teams blitz & hit Romo). Below are my projections for his 1st three years:

2016: 1,200 yards 12 TDs
2017: 1,600 yards 17 TDs
2018: 1,800 yards 16 TDs

2. Jaylon Smith - I am fascinated by this pick not only because I work in healthcare field and will closely follow his rehab but I think he was top 3 player pre-injury. Previously I posted his leg press, squad #s and it looks positive. I really have little doubt the nerve wakes-up and transmits fully but this will come down to two things: 1) can he play pain free and 2) is explosiveness still there. If answer is yes & yes then start pouring concrete footings for Jerry new statue because he will be getting his 2nd GM of Year award.

As far as his rehab I would follow what Sixers are doing with Joel Embid and hire group of people who are tasked with structuring every area for him (nutrition, sleep, rehab, etc). I would even send him to Aspetar in Qatar where they have world renowned sports science facility for sports related injuries. They also have other athletes rehabbing and its great way to keep athletes upbeat.

3. Dak Prescott - an intangible monster he demonstrated leadership qualities, the ability to move around in pocket and improved his pure passing numbers in 2015. Unlike Stephan McGee (who was benched his final year) Presscott arrow is pointing up and he comes into Dallas with momentum. If Dallas gets a starter here that alone can make this draft.

This draft also has the potential of being a severe bust if Elliot is another Trent Richardson, Smith is another Marcus Lattimore and Prescott has McGee career. But I feel Dallas is playoff team (pre-draft) who attempted a Steven Curry 50 foot shot at buzzer for the win.

I was gonna read until I got to 76ers statement. Might be the the worst ran organization in sports. Honestly gotta come up with different comparison

Anything with Dak in it would not be Hall of Fame. Wasted Draft pick.

Zeke, Smith Tapper are for sure players

Collins, Brown and Kavon could be solid contributors

Gathers you don't know what's you're gonna get yet.

Jackson not sure why we drafted another RB with the stable we have and who our first pick was.

I was happy with the draft. They know we needed a DE but when dodd and ogbah went they took a chance on a beast. I understand and love the pick. That video of smith getting the call got me emotional. You have to take risks sometimes.

I remember last season when we all cracked champagne as we had gotten 3 "first round talents" coming off of a 12-4 season...

Every draft is like this.

"But but but if healthy this guy is a top talent. When not breaking the rules he's a top talent". But guess what, that's apart of the game. Injured and suspended players don't help you on the field. We think we are getting steals but there is a reason every single team passed over them.

Did we see the same draft bloke?

Great first pick. Then came Mr. Rehab, Mr. DUI, Mr. Potential, blah, blah, blah.

We went 4-12 for this???????

you forgot Mr. Basketball...

lol nah but I loved our draft. But with any draft, you have to wait many years to really determine how good it was.

Ok, we've decided that this may not be the best draft ever, now let's move past that point and go back to the injury thing. OP, if you don't mind, can you give any insight to a realistic expectation of Jaylon Smith either for this year or his future. You stated you are in the medical field, any insight would be awesome or can you direct me to a website that would be a non-biased, information gathering medical site.
