This is a different team

It’s the first game with a new coaching staff and 30% new players none of who played in the preseason. Don’t you think for a second that it might take a handful of games for them to gel as a team? I do. It’s just common sense.

Sure, gel away and it was better than many thought but it was still more of the same. A critical drive or a critical turnover that’s costs the team the game.

That’s the difference between great and very good teams and averages ones. if they play lights out the rest of the way then we can say hey this is different but it was 1 game and it ended exactly like so many others have in the past….close no cigar.

Well that argument is a little moot given it's game one and both teams did the exact same thing they were dominant in the first half with their offenses neither one had a good defense in the first half both defenses were great in the 2nd half I mean just basically are bashing the Eagles as well that they happen to win a close game at home They're supposed to be miles ahead of us and that's not what we saw..

But again you just describe both teams if I didn't know you were a Cowboy fan criticizing your own team which I do know then I thought you'd be describing the Eagles being dominant on offense in the first half and no offense in the 2nd half..

It just looked like that it is what it is if if Sanders doesn't fumble the ball a big if and if CD Lamb doesn't drop at least one of those the big one on one of the late drives in the 4th this is a different narrative because then they would have created offense and they probably would have won the game but you're right it's disappointing in that fact but it's still better than the expectations that were had going into this game...

I always said this was a litmus test and we were going to lose I predicted 27-20 and I was pretty damn close

The Eagles are supposed to win at home When you're a really good team even if you have another good team coming in you usually win your home games especially on the road in whether you're inviting a team in that wasn't expecting humidity and lightning and weather delays..

It is pretty clear of what's happened between the Eagles and Cowboys the last 10 years they're five and five but most of the time it's split They've taken turns winning division lately but they usually win the games at home if both teams are healthy and complete the only times they become lopsided and the home team doesn't win is like last year when the Cowboys were playing with all backups it happens or we've caught them when they didn't play their starters But the Cowboys played this team toe to toe and were better than expected and that's all we're saying..

My narrative didn't change my guess was they were gonna be 9 to 11 wins this year and it's still that I'm not getting hyped up over a loss but I do see that we are a better team overall the roster and the coaching staff that was being blasted all offseason for not being improved and I see improvement I think this is a better team than last year healthy or not and we can only build off of this law So I think we're gonna be better over the long haul when we get the week 10 to 12 I think this team will have an identity I don't know what that is yet but I believe we're going to get better than this we're going to build off this and that is where some of the responses like this threat it may be a little over zealous but most of us didn't pick this team to be seven or under wins that was 60% of the people who are delusional that are sticking to that after what they saw last night i'm just keeping my prediction and I still think we're on track for that....

They played a division opponent toe to toe and lost. Without Jalen Carter at that. Sorry, but I’ve done the moral victory with this team for years. They have talent, that’s not the argument.

I'm happy to see there are other besides myself that are seeing good signs, at least for now. It's even possible that there will be more games to come that will please more people than this one happened to. If not, many of us will be well advised to remain patient by myself and others. The rewards of our two first round picks will be helpful to enjoying a better future. Those silver- lined clouds are for real. One loss doesn't make a season. Let's hope for better things to come. It may take time, though.

I tried telling folks who said this team sucks and is going 6-11. Team can’t run the ball, defense can’t stop the run and Dak sucks.

The loss sucks. They had em. Fortunately, this is the first game of the season and these bright spots have me feeling good going forward:

* Dak looks very mobile, strong and aware.
* The run game looked so much improved from recent years.
* The offensive line dominated IMHO. A few mental mistakes, but they didn’t get out physicaled.
* The defense actually made in game adjustments and clamped down on the run. Barkley only had 60 yards. Hurts was awesome on the ground though.
* The team overall looked prepared. First game of the season you know they’re going to be fired up and they were. But they played within themselves, not like that yahoo Carter, and kept the pressure on throughout the game.
* I saw toughness from the team. Dak making that TD saving tackle after the fumble is going to pay dividends within themselves locker room.
* Only 4 penalties.

Probably won’t shut up all the habitual critics but maybe some.

:starspin:
Being the first game, on the road in Philly and only having 4 penalties is what impressed me the most. They just proved to me that they can be focused throughout a whole game. (Zero false start)

No one said it did.
Your entire thread literally does though.

You’re saying this team is different based off of one game.

This team has never struggled to win regular season games. That isn’t different. It’s winning when it matters that’s the true test of champions or more of the same.

Not to mention. Philly was missing their best player on defense. The OL had a much easier task once he was ejected.

And in saying that. What an absolute POS. Spitting on someone is worse than punching them in the face. It so much more disrespectful. Hope he gets a game suspension.

Reread my post. I said the loss sucked because we had them. And if you don’t think this team is different, then you need to check yourself and start watching with some objectivity instead of “they suck so lets make fun of them” or whatever you do on a daily basis.
Would it make you feel better if I say they are a different team that still loses?

It is just one game, so it's hard to judge. But regardless of regular season wins, the Cowboys usually get stomped against good teams away in the regular season. That game was 50/50.

The Cowboys didn't have their best defensive player either. Only he's not coming back next week. Who knows, maybe the Cowboys do suck. Maybe it's the Eagles that aren't very good this year, and that's why the Cowboys kept it close. You just don't know after week 1.

That’s what I am saying. The OP is agreeing with someone it’s only one week but this whole thread is a blanket statement that this team is different than the last 30 years. Based off of one game. That’s all I’m pointing out.

The biggest thing I took away from the game was that the team looked prepared and disciplined. Over the past 30 years or so, that has rarely been the case and the team has given away countless games with penalties or just general sloppiness. Just being disciplined and low penalties is probably worth several wins per season.

Yes, it was a clean game. No self inflicted wounds, a few errors but that's sports. They looked focused and well prepared. Credit to coaches.

If you want to make this more than a sport and your job, that then is on YOU. I enjoyed the game and don't support my CHOSEN team with a vote of winning it all or crap.

Accountability and strongly shown leadership schooled well on the sport and roles in a team.

C'mon, my friend. We have been talking about good play where ever talk wasn't just burned off.

Bring on the damn 'big' blues! :starspin: Stay tough guys!

Yes they played better and more disciplined

Dak was good except for hero ball on 4th and 3. No need to throw it 30 yards

Now show me this for the next 4-5 weeks consistently and we might (yes, might) be a decent team

Every single team in the NFL still loses. Not that really is sports earth shattering observation there. :flagwave:

It was gambled and should have been a completion. No reason not to have been completed. It could have put a game observation for the Giants to have to prepare for here and now with game film.

Hell, try gambles. Be successful next attempt. That is progress and yea Dak was on target this whole game at a top shelf level.
