The Giants defense is not as good as Minnesota's. Similar makeup does not equal as talented. But of course their offense is 10x more explosive.

The Giants are such a weird team. Their offense has some of the best playmakers in the league out wide, yet they rarely take over ball games. I think they're on a long streak of not hitting the 30-point mark.

They thrive on those deep balls to Cruz or Beckham, and those plays where Odell takes a 15-yard catch and houses it for a 60-yard score.

But as a whole, they strangely sputter a lot.

In the playoffs, there may be games like this. The question is, can we win these? I guess that question was answered tonight. The defense played great, and we made enough plays to win the game. Learning how to win is the hardest thing for losing teams to learn. Once you learn it, lights out.
Those teams in the 90s often had a hell of a time putting the Cardinals away.

Sure doesn't diminish them in my eyes.

If this was our late season loss, does Garrett pull a Jimmy and start cussing at random players on the flight home?

Every game is different. Do you expect us to have 10 bad penalties to the seahawks? Do you expect us to have needless fumbles with them? I don't know, this is why different teams different results. The Seahawks scored a measley 5 points the other day. Do you think that's how they play all the time.

This was a tough game for us on Thursday night with a hostile crowd, first time for Dak. I thought he did a heck of a job considering everything that happened.
We will be playing them in Dallas most likely. You sure like to look for ways to lose and denigrate players.

Not at all. But yes, good point in regards to playing them at home. Playing in Minn is a tough task
But, a potential bonus would be playing Seattle at home. A potential HUGE bonus. Just like Minnesota tonight, Seattle is infinitely more difficult to beat in their building.

One final thing: if we're fortunate enough to make the NFC Championship Game, you're darn right it's going to be difficult. It's not supposed to be easy, even more so if we face a team like Seattle with a championship pedigree.

Well put, and agreed.

NYG have a defense that has a similar makeup to Minn. They spent big and it's paid off.

We play like that against NY, and it's a loss. Hopefully Pitt can take care of them at Heinz Field.

Minnesota has a way better defense than the Giants there is no comparison.

That's one game.

Are you really going to sit there and say that their offense can't get hot and easily put up points?

One game? Guess you haven't been watching the Seattle games. there offense has stunk on more than one occasion this year.

They are trending upward over the last month and have been playing better since getting Graham and, more importantly, Wilson healthy. Still, that offense has been all over the map this year.

On the road, here are their point totals in order: 3, 27, 6, 20, 31, 5.

Yeah, they spent big money this offseason and it's paid off so far. They have a nice front four, a legit safety, and a solid secondary. Very similar makeup. Minn has edge at LB, and Minn is better for sure, but NYG is no slouch either on the defensive side of the ball.

There defense isn't close to the level as Minnie. Giants aren't that good in passrushing. They were lucky to win against us in week 1.

Michael Irvin and other members of this board thought a loss would be a good thing for this team going forward to keep them hungry.

This is that loss.

This team played horribly and had to feel the pain of a loss creeping up in their stomach for 3 and a half quarters.

They managed to win.

Patriots got an ugly win against a lesser team last week. We just got ours. A win like this serves the same purpose as a loss. This team knows they kneed to get better if they don't want that loss feeling to creep up.
yeah hopefully this was our bad game now out of the way.

Thank goodness Dak can run or this would've been a loss.

This was clearly the best D we faced this year. Baltimore was strong up front but was susceptible to the pass. Minnesota's D is strong throughout. As you said, Dak's ability to scramble was our equalizer last night.

For me.. The Vikings have the best defense in the NFL and it's not even close. Especially their front 7.

Seattle may have a better secondary but that front 7 of the Vikings is really good.

Very nice thread. I'll take a "loss" like that.

That was a GREAT defense we played and beat last night.

People forget the Vikings started off at 5-0 and at one time was considered the team to beat in the NFC. Their defense are a championship type of defense. What has hurt them this year has been their offense which has been offensive.

Yep...

But like most teams in the salary cap era... You have to give up something somewhere on your team and theirs is O-line and WR.

It's why I'm not as down on the defense as some people. You can complain about the defense all you like but they do a good job of keeping teams point totals low.

I mean, it is not going to always be pretty. We fumbled the ball multiple times, we had stupid penalties, we didn't chip the DE that was toasting Free, etc...but we still pulled it out.

This game has a ton of teachable moments for our team. Red and his coaching staff will use this game tape to correct our miscues over the next 10 days. Hell of a win. Bring on the Giants.

To me... Beckham is a lot like Desean Jackson. He's dangerous but he's overrated IMO.

Give me a big physical WR over a guy like Odell Beckham any day.

AJ, Dez, Julio, Demaryius, Mike Evans, and Hopkins are just a few I would take over him.

Its hard to judge what the scores should have been unless we can take penalties out of the equation. The penalties were atrocious.

Wow you keep believing this nonsense. The Giants defense is not on the same level as the Vikings.

Agreed.. The Giants Dline is probably on par with the Vikings but that is where the comparisons can stop.

The Giants do have a nice defense but I would much rather have that Vikings defense because of that front 7.

Fair point. Just have to think it can be liable to burst open at any time. We need Mo back
