Out of this list the only players in the Top 10 in rushing are Gore and Forte and they are tied for Tenth.. Hopefully Murray will sign for around 3 million a year.. Not likely but I'm hoping..

I hope that it's a fair deal to both parties but if Murray ask for too much either franchise him or let him walk.

Running backs can be found in the draft, especially in the mid to late rounds.

There are too many other factors to consider in lists like this.

This is merely a snapshot of a player's contract in a given year.

Agreed. Murray has been solid but its the blocking that has made thr running game so successful, not Murray's "skills"

I think it's both. I definitely know he has the skills. Years ago, when we had a garbage line, Murray had to fight for his life to get out of the backfield.

Two things:

1. If it were Dunbar or someone else on the team with all of Murray's snaps, they wouldn't have as many yards as Murray.

2. We'd still probably be 3-1.

There is injury history with Murray too and most everyone here remembers the ghost of Marion Barber and the cap effect that had.

You give him around 5 million a year - He is young and productive. You don't insult him by giving him Frank Gore and Fred Jackson money. Those guys are in their 30s - while they are productive they are at the end of their careers. Murray is a fantastic running, but is pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield make him even more valuable.

He's not that old.

he signed that contract when he was murray's age

8/30/2011: Signed a four-year, $25.9 million contract. The deal contains $13.5 million guaranteed. 2014: $3.3 million (+ $750,000 roster bonus + $400,000 workout bonus + $2 million in per-game roster bonuses), 2015: Free Agent

It'a a combination of many things. But if he keeps playing like he is, you can't deny that he is a big part of it. Pay him if it fits within the cap plans.

It's like they said back in the Landry days with Dorsett and Staubach and all them....they are running [the offense] like a well oiled machine...

Which back in the late 70's, early 80's, what did someone refer their OL as...4 Irishmen and a Scot.
now it may have been only 3 irish, but it was who IIRC, Donovan, Fitzgerald, Rafferty, And after Wright it was Cooper. The Scot was, well Herb Scott.
