This offense is awful

Think how different the turnover and sack totals could be if the offense gave the defense the ability to be more aggressive and not always play bend don't break. Then again, with the men in charge, we would play even more conservatively on D if that was the case...

Yep. It's hard to fault for lack of turnovers when the other offense is only needing to score 9 points. Look at all the turnovers we forced last year, and we were an awful defense. But our offense put up 30+ points and dominated the time of possession. Opposing offenses got desperate.

We would have had better success if we went with the wildcat/direct snap to RBs after Romo got hurt.

I mentioned Tebow and was dead serious about it.

We could've been more effective running a offense that fits Tebows strengths than using Jason Garretts offense with any other QB besides Romo.

More talent?
We got an ancient dude who gets shoe string tackled, a dude that can only body catch, a little smurf dude who might break at any moment, and a dude w a monkey.

Granted on the RB thing. And Campo had Hambrick and Chad Hutchinson wasnt it? Henson, Quincy? I cant even remember exactly. That Oline was pretty bad too.

Where were you when Romo was making this offense look remotely formidable? Giving praise to the rebuild of this team and the roster turnover making 8-8 acceptable, etc. Wasting Romo's prime while pointing to the D as the culprit instead of the HC where it belonged? The team lacks scheme and discipline. Romo could only cover for JG for so long bf he was exposed. We were called ungrateful?

In reality, what these guys are saying is that Garrett doesn't do anything. If you cant blame him for anything, then he simply isnt capable of making a difference. Which is exactly what separates the good coaches from the bad ones.

I agree. And Jerry and Tebow are friends. I would rather watch Tebow run around and ad lib and call plays at the line of scrimmage than take my chances with whatever goofy strategy Garrett and company come up with for a backup QB.

Hear you Roy, this team has been capable of much more and where my gripe with JG lies. We've had a top 5 QB throughout this process which is especially frustrating with this trial and error offensive scheme that can;t incorporata motion, slants, posts, delayed routes (NE), etc. There are so many ways to make it easier for your QB and JG emphasized none of these features.

Even with TO, the most production came from TO and motion. I don't like TO, but liked him as a player in motion and for TD's esp. My main gripe with JG is the lack of quick, RAC, accesible outlets, and the lack of involving Dez as a primary receiver. It took running on 1st and 2nd down to even calm this team to a winning schedule.

Now, without Romo pulling magic out of his arse, JG is exposed for lack of innovation. The team downplayed this aspect while hiring two former HC's to fill the coordinator roles/along with the HC oversight that usually is recommended. JG is a politician, he has added nothing to this team during his tenure but continues to find scapegoats.

I couldnt agree more. How many years did it take him to figure out that Play action was a staple in every NFL offense? Then it was WR screens. Now its rub and pick plays that he hasnt learned about yet. Its really not difficult stuff. You look at what other teams do that works and you copy. Not genius stuff here. The Pats run those pick plays all day long. Its maddening to watch the Dallas offense.

But at the end of the day can we really blame Garrett? Its not like he is going to quit. Jones gave him the job and is paying him millions. If he asked me to coach I couldnt say no. Its not his fault he isnt very good at it. Its Jones fault for hiring him and keeping him here. Garrett has actually been put in a position that he isnt capable of succeeding at. And sadly enough, Jones freely admits that he has seen exactly what many of us have seen and he still does nothing about it. He accepts the growing pains, the errors, the poor clock managment, NOT going to dez more often. He watches it with his own eyes, recognizes it, and yet does nothing about it.

How many times has Jerry said that NOT being able to compete for a championship while Romo has been our QB is one of his biggest disappointments? Yet he continues to enable just that.

We're 4-8? Get over it...meltdown? That would associate fans supporting JG? That's not the case, esp not here. We knew the talent was here and you accepted less. That's on yaw, not us???

Yes we are 4-8, what is there to get over?
It's a bad year due to whatever the reasons one is to believe in their own opinion. I have nothing to get over, it is what it is. can't change it, so why whine about it.

I knew it was bad but didn't realize it was this bad. This has become Campo's Cowboys.

Romo has 35 drives on the season and scored only 5 TD's.

Cassel has 55 drives and has only scored 7 TD's.

We have clipped off a full touchdown and extra point off of our scoring offense from last year as well.

Our leading reciever is Witten at 60 catches.

McFadden is averaging a mere 3.8 yards per carry.

We will not have a 3,000 yard passer, 1,000 yard rusher, or 1,000 reciever this year in 16 games.

Awful!

can't be, Garrett is an offensive genius. I mean look on how much production his magic got out of Romo, Dez and DeMarco last season. /sarcasm

It should not have been a surprise to anybody that an offense needs a capable QB to be successful. I know it's popular to bandy about the idea that a good QB 'covers up' for a bad coach, but the reality is, you can't win many games without a good QB, and, if you do, it's because you've got a defense that makes the other guys' QBs look worse than your own.

The team doesn't lack scheme or discipline. That's just something fans say when they don't want to hold players they like responsible for holding onto footballs or catching critical 3rd downs. This team has been in position to win all but two games this season with the scheme and the discipline it's got on hand. It's lost those games because our players didn't make the plays that were right there to be made. End of story.

The two games we lost where we didn't really have a chance were both to better teams than we've got right now.

I've done the eye test and have been complaining about this offense since JG took over, but didn't realize it was this bad! People want to say if we hadn't just lost Romo, but that's not truly the case as he was not scoring as well.

These issues have more to do with our Oline and our Oline not having Murray around. Not saying that Murray was GOAT but he did compliment the line very well.

Obviously, the main reason we've clipped off a full touchdown and extra point from last year's scoring is the lack of Romo. You bring up his 35 drives and only 5 TDs, but I don't think it would have stayed that way. Turnovers hurt our production against the Giants and Panthers.
Other than the Carolina game, we scored 27, 20 and 24 with Romo. The games killing our average this year are scoring six, 12 against Seattle and six against Tampa without Romo, and the 14 points against Carolina.

In other words, our scoring average would be different with a healthy Romo, Dez would probably be over 1,000 if he had been healthy with Romo playing and it's possible our running game would be doing better with Romo and Dez taking pressure off it.

So yes, we are the Campo Cowboys with Weeden/Cassel at QB and Dez missing seven games, but it's silly to complain much about an offense missing its engine.
