This offseason feels different; the FO has been active

Well I'll be here Mike. Tell me Mike, what exactly is about to be set in motion? What master plan have the evil genius Jones boys been scheming for all these years that's about to come to fruition?
Shotty and staff.

Let's be clear here. You pretty much tell us each offseason that Dallas improved. I can't remember the last time you sat here and said the offseason was bad and the team got worse.
resident happy fan and will blast you if you don't participate.

I'm pumpin the brakes, for now. Show me what ya got Cowboys. ENough with the talk and promises.

Hard to tell since Jerry never opens the roof anymore. Sometimes I look through the windows that Jerry uses to blind his own players but I can only see portions of the game. I'm told there's been a master plan in the works for the last 28 years though so color me excited.
NOOOOOO! You reminded us the time Jerry blinded his own team. o_O

:)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: folks this is epic. No way this can be duplicated. Awesome.

The FO has indeed been active this offseason, but the consensus around the league is that the Cowboys are worse off than they were going into last season.
I don't understand where that consensus is coming from they had 2 rookie olinemen starting and no #2 WR to go with Zeke starting at RB.

Apparently you don't read. because I listed all the moves that started in April before all the Parsons mess,

this had nothing to do with taking the attention away from what the season can or can't be, there's a lot of more moves than I even listed it's been nonstop since the league year started, it was slow to start but they went and picked up Milton and Pickens long before all this so no Hunter is just happened to be on their short list, like Ferguson was unexpected, It's not going to impact this year at all, they were already going to be here.. Mean most fans are not casuals who understand that that made no difference except for it shows they are trying to get ahead of some of these contracts...

so I don't get it like why you would even say that most of these players that were just extended we're going to play this year regardless of a new deal or not, parsons was the only sudden change that caught us off guard, but even that got us a starting nose tackle.
actually you are the one that does not read where it says 30 years since we were truly contenders

Well of course he'll play. They've tried so hard to sell this trade that they'll play him until his tongue drags the ground. Who cares about snap counts? Results are all that matters. Parsons has been traded. Fine, it is what it is. But trying to sell Kenny Clark as any kind of upgrade over Micah Parsons is nothing more than roseate dreams and honestly BS. Nobody in their right mind truly believes that.
Well Jimmy, you get to watch them every week. Obviously, you don't know much about Kenny Clark.

We hired a first time coach that picked his own staff with no retreads on it, mostly young and energetic says the players.

Top 10 Dak is back, We added booker in place of martin, Finally a legit WR2 in pickens, More dept on Pass rushers, Finally a DT we been asking for, Zeke isn't at running back, LB's are much improved i should say. A lot of things to make you excited if you are a fan of football but keep being you.

Cheers to a great year!
You said from an X and O perspective we should be better. You offered up zero evidence to support that.

It’s our year this year!
That's what I preached to my staff and players every year. If you don't believe, you don't belong. Going into a season, with no hope and having given up, before playing a game......may as well move on. Hard to ask players to bust their butt's when coaches and fans don't believe in them. Even if we're 0-16, going to the last game, never quit.........once you do, you'll be a quitter the rest of your life...Go Cowboys!!
Salud, brother!

I want to be clear here. You are saying they are a better team, after having traded Parsons away, than they were last year?
I'll say it. Yes they are. Sooooooo many new additions. Idiot McCarthy finally gone. New OL coaches.

Especially by the time we get Overshown and the CB's back.

Honest question - are you expecting the same Overshown from before his devastating injury?

I just want to highlight the offseason so far, as some moves that seemed small might turn out to be much bigger.

In 2025, they traded for Milton and Pickens, re-signed Turpin, Osa, Furgs, Bland, and Hunter. They went through the draft, and while we’ll see how those picks pan out in a couple of years, they also brought in some key free agents. Starting with Fowler, the signing of James Houston feels underrated and could end up being a bigger impact than expected. They also bolstered their linebacker core by bringing in Murray and Sanborn.

They’ve made a lot of moves this offseason, yet people still complain and seem unhappy, which I don’t understand. Recently, they traded Parsons to gain two extra first-round picks, a starting nose tackle, and cap space to address other needs. For those who know, this was about building the team, not just saving face with Parsons.

They’ve also had talks with Tyler Smith, who’s very important, as well as Aubrey. You can’t say they’re inactive—this has been one of the most active offseasons they’ve had. From bringing in corners to strategically cutting and re-signing players for the practice squad, they’ve put in significant effort to make this team as strong as possible without overspending. Sure, people might criticize them for not splurging in free agency and sticking to bargain deals, but sometimes those smaller moves pay off.

For example, the Eagles last year brought in budget players who ended up being key contributors, while their big signing, Brian Huff, turned out to be a bust despite his $17 million-per-year contract. Sometimes, it’s the smaller moves that make the difference.
another losing season incoming. there is no elite talent on the roster

Saquon Barkely and CJGJ (who each got more AAV than any FA youve signed in 10 years) are budget signings for Philly; that’s a new one I haven’t heard yet

Did you type this?

Whatever it is, more of this. Because it makes sense.

I personally love what they did this year. Even more knowing we have two 1st round draft picks this year and next.

The Packers are in a tough division. Don't forget that.

That is because last year the FO was definitely cleaning house after the Packers loss. They werent doing anything more than 1 year deals for the most part. They wanted to be where they are today.... a bunch of new players and lots of cash moving forward.

Excellent post. I was saying the Houston signing was underrated when we got him. He's even smaller than Parsons though and has some of the same issues with the run. He's not as fast as Parsons, but he's a lot like him.
Look I appreciate the comment except for James Houston is 6'1 240 Parsons 6'3 245 Tank 6'3 251

I would say because of the height difference they're exactly the same size james Houstons built a little more like Tank body wise, thicker, that's why I said he reminds me of Demarcus Lawrence not Parsons but their size it's not that far off...

The thing Parsons had first step speed a lot of pass rush moves james Houston is more like Tank he's a more traditional pass rusher but he also plays the run better And yes he does play the run better.. Very active high motor he goes after the running backs with as much vigor as he does the the pass rush...

I'm just saying as a group I think it can be a great group the pressure by the team from all aspects this is going to be up to Matt how he designs this stuff where they're coming from how they're utilized and when Overshone comes back it'll even be better he will absolutely create havoc up the middle and side to side....

By the way bring you back Fowler back he had 10.5 sacks last year I'd say that that's a great addition Yeah and Sam Williams being healthy and hungry on a contract year also has these guys are going to be looking to be the next Parsons, even if they're not as good they're gonna be out there wanting to be the next guy up that everyone's talking about..add in EZE who knows

I mean I'm not saying we the loss of Parsons isn't going to be noticeable but I don't think he's irreplaceable... It's easy to see because even with him we haven't got past the second round of the playoffs it's not like we've been winning big with him maybe as a team where the defensive coordinator feels more pressure to create pressure that maybe it's better that they're not relying on one guy that one guy we are seeing a long line of motor if he's taken out of the game it's harder to make up for him

Been practicing all offseason from March until now with the group of guys they got so I think they're in focus and ready to go...

No, I used talk to text, but then I found it on the really long post to use the copilot to redo it, and then I make sure it didn't leave anything out and I go with it... So yes, when I'm trying to be clearer, I try to make it more clean, especially if I start a post, I mean obviously I got to make it look more professional....

could they have realized that their way of operating has been wrong? or are they trying to do something to try to somewhat make up for botching the micah deal so bad? time will tell.
No they're not trying to make up for Parsons maybe that happens in the future But think about this they started doing this with Turpin way back in March they've been resigning their guys they got Ferguson done before the parsons trade. What I see is the money got freed up sooner than later so then they went ahead and did bland and Hunter and I'm sure somebody else but that's the bonus if there's any positivity from the trade besides the first round picks it's having the money to go ahead and get everyone done sooner....

I don't expect them to have the same hold up for Aubrey and Tyler Smith I mean they're working on those behind the scenes they may not get done this season but I think they get done immediately after or before camps next year..

Pickens is the only wild card but that's gonna be up to him If he plays really well he may want number one money and he has to be number one receiver to get that so his leaving is truly up to him I think the Cowboys would probably keep him if he took T Higgins money but he may want way more than that so he may not be here but we can use those picks now to go after two players in the first round the next two seasons that's four players so you can go after a receiver they nearly signed TeT if he would have been there they would have took him...

You said from an X and O perspective we should be better. You offered up zero evidence to support that.
I believe the game planning, adjustments, play design, game management will be better. No evidence, just my opinion.

O players I feel got better
X players got better from addition by subtraction

Do you need me to keep going?
