Yes but in this case I believe Jane Slater, she is NOT Ed Werder.

Unless a writer quotes someone directly involved with what their article is about, they're unbelievable. To many times these "insiders" have gotten thing either partially wrong or all together wrong so they need a direct quote to be believable.

You're not going to be an "insider" for long if you start direct quoting people on the inside who are speaking off the record because they don't want fired for sharing things prematurely, and/or grilled afterwards if the situation changes.

So either we take their information for what it's worth - it may be right, it may end up being something different - or we just wait for an official announcement like the good old days.

If they're afraid to quote someone for fear of getting shut out but still get things wrong, then the smart money IS waiting for an official announcement and just ignore all these "insiders" who are afraid to quote people.
