This team is stacked, but how do we rein in Dak, use him in an efficient and safe way?

Been a cowboys fan a long time....through thick and thin. Yeah it bothers me a bit. Insulting...and just to get their fights in. Internet for ya. Even a fan forum has 'em....when we should get along some.

was like that at the old site is like that here. Not sure anything will ever change. Its the sign of the times although there are a few here that are worse than others. On both sides of the Dak and Zeke debate

I don’t know man when you have groups like the stones, zeppelin, skynard , doors , Floyd and Styx to name a few I can’t get to UFO as best classic rock album ever but I’m sure they gave you hours of enjoyment just as those I named above did me

Our generation I’ll stand by as the best time for music
Who is UFO?

Feel the same way old friend!

I used to think Rush exit stage left was one of the best. Now there's always SOME production in live recordings but that album is barely" live ". Everything but drums redone in the studio. I'm CRUSHED! :). Still fun to listen to.
You should revisit their Caress of Steel album. Rush was way cooler before the synthesizers when they were just hard rockin' a guitar, bass and drums.

Farewell to Kings marked a transition from simple three-piece rock and roll to a more unique and complex style. I guess there has to be some type of evolution in a band's career but my favorites are still Working Man off their first album, Anthem off Fly By Night, Necromancer and I Think I'm Going Bald off Caress of Steel.

I saw then live 3 times before 1980 and the 2nd one is my favorite concert of all time. That was the Fly By Night tour in 1975.

Yeah....I used to be groovy, right on, with it, far out, hip and solid. I used to be young wild and free. Now I'm old, boring and married. And, worse of all, the members of all my favorite rock bands are checking out now. Thank goodness my Cowboys are still a dynasty that never disappoints.

Dak has to be limited to about 25-28 passes a game. This, of course, means the Cowboys must be dominant in the running game.

The Cowboys cannot miss out on getting a productive RB in the draft and I hope they draft two of them.

Pollard has never carried the load that will be expected of him next season. Should he struggle or get injured, the season is over without a RB that can make pays. They will need Robinson or Gibbs. Since the RB position is so deep, supposedly, they should not hesitate to grab another if they happen to like him and he is the proper value where he got drafted. For example, imagine getting both Gibbs and Bigsby.

As far as Dak goes, check it, the Cowboys are 27-1 when Dak throws 28 or less passes in the game. In addition, in these games he has a combined 40 TD's and 9 INT's.

Obviously, that's only possible if the running game is being productive enough.

The Cowboys got some bruisers on the line and I know they would prefer to run block for a good RB rather than pass block.
I never have bought into this sort of narrative and never will. It's not about how many passes Dak (or any QB for that matter) attempts.. It's about asking him to do what he's good at and not asking him to do what he's not good at. Dak is good at more than enough things to be successful NFL QB. Off the top of my head I can name a dozen Super Bowl winning QBs who were not as good as Dak on their best days. The whole won-loss record when he attempts 28 passes or less is a chicken/egg discussion. Teams generally throw more when trailing and run more when winning. Especially the Cowboys since Dak came to town.. because you know, 2 time rushing champ, dominant offensive line and all that. Look I'm and old running back.. I absolutely want to watch my favorite team run the ball more than throw it. But not because I fear Dak putting the ball up... I just like the running game more.. I enjoy the demoralization aspect of grinding a defense down over time. I love watching a defender get his hands on a back and having that back spin or power out of the tackle and turn it into more yards. That's what I personally like most. When Dak has had good weapons (and been healthy) he has been able to put up amazing numbers and it has been fun to watch him operate. But that's not what I personally want to watch the most.

I will go to my grave believing that the main thing that has held Dak and this offense back has been the fact that the offense went stale and most good DCs could figure it out and knew what was coming more often than not. It has only been a testament to the talent on the field that we've seen the success we have. The reason Romo had success after a while was he veered away from the formulas Garrett and Co. were trotting out there and it made the offense far less predictable. I've said many times that Dak needed to get to that point with Moore. Thankfully now he doesn't have to. McCarthy will can a lot of the predictable crap and I think the end result will be a more consistent offense. Who cares if it leads the league in anything.. so long as it's an offense that's built for playoff football ..

Funny I guess that thing he plays is technically a sax but I've kinda always thought of it as a shiny clarinet.

He may play both but I got mad respect for the wind it takes for them type instruments

Alto Sax (Bundy) in high school band after practice (i did not play football, I was not that stupid...played baseball).
I love music, the language of the world. I'm so glad that reality told me not to post my bands tunes here. But, still not sure why? Cannot even post it on the music forum or I will be eliminated from my music. lol

I had been on this forum for a long time and then left for about four years and went to music school, so I have just now learning posters. I had to study classical, read the notes, recital with other players. Learning Modes was on the guitar woke me up, timing in music, scales, the house pattern.

Now, I have my own band, "The Bad Influence Garage Band Blues". There have been times that people tell us after a gig that we should be on the radio! I say thank you...then they say they could turn if off! wth. lol

Certainly, I would understand dak throwing the ball more often if the Cowboys were down by two TD's or more after the first half. They probably aren't going to catch up with a balanced attack, they have to gamble.

Do you know how many times that has happened in Dak's career? Six times.

And yet, Dak has thrown the ball 40 or more times in 21 games. The Cowboys are 7-14 in those games.

Just looking at last season, do you know how many times the Cowboys were down by more than a TD at halftime with Dak as the QB? Once. That was game #1 against the Bucs.

Do you know how many times Dak threw the ball 20 or more times just in the first half? Seven times. Why?

Why would Dak throw the ball 20 or more times in the first half when they are either leading or losing by less than a TD by the end of that half.

The simple answer could be that the running game was not effective. Hence, my reason for saying that, if McCarthy wants to run the ball more often then the Cowboys are going to need better than just a serviceable back to complement Pollard.

Nope...I don;t have to revisit/ I LOVE me some old rush. I bought "Rush" in about 1977? Rush logo coming out of rocks or asteroids. COOL! I then stold..I mean BORROWD my older brothers Farewell To Kings lp. I bought the triple LP set even though I had access to 2 of them. Got Hemispheres. And well I could go on and on.

They certainly do have specific chapters and that's one reason I love them. Never the same for more than a couple albums.

Yep...we're gettin on in age. Montrose was one of my faves. A couple are still going strong. BOC is one...got some new members but they just made a GREAT album.

Cultasaurus Erectus is a RADICAL bad az album..among others.

Schenker still playing very good.

Thankfully we have these treasures we can keep and dig up. There are a few new guys I really like. Umphry's McGee is one.

Rush was a 3 piece band whose songs required a lot more than just 3 instruments. Their live shows were a lot different than their studio tracks, but I know at least 2x that I saw them they had a couple of large tape reels playing along with them on stage.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Tape reels? LMAO!!!
