This team is stacked, but how do we rein in Dak, use him in an efficient and safe way?

Speaking of JAGS... What did the Jaguars do after Trevor Lawrence 21' season leading 17 INTS?

As I recall, they switched to a different coach that had a playcalling system that fit him better. That's where I think the switch to Schotty as OC should help. The combo of him and McCarthy should help Dak with quicker throws and allowing the WRs to keep their momentum with slant routes, as opposed to curl routes where the WRs have to stop their momentum.

Dak is Dak..

Doing the same things he’s been doing in college. Getting totally destroyed by ranked teams his last year in college, when he was supposed to be “that dude”.

Against LSU:

Down 21-6 in the 4th, puts up 13 pts in garbage time. He threw it 52 times

Again Texas:

27-10 going into the 4th, ended up 30-7.. the other TD was a 52 yard run by the RB in the 2nd. He threw it 34 times.

Alabama

31-6. Dak threw it 43 times

Ole Miss

38-27 with Dak throwing 2 TDs in garbage time, in the 4th. He got pick 6’d and he threw it 42 times on a 74% clip.

What has changed?

Yes, me frustrated ruffians and pyramid schemers, we shant have any excuses this season.
We appear ready to go with experienced WRs, a Pollard in bloom and a line anchored by Martin.
Defence? Same. Stacked and hungry.

But what do we do with Deek?
How do the coaches minimize our JAG's INTs?
Will Fat Mac truly run the ball more to minimize Deek handling the ball?
Can our JAG resist the temptation to throw into tight windows?
Can Deek be weaned from his security blanket of TE sideline passes or at least learn that TEs can go vertical and into the flats?
Can Deek surrender his INT title to Cousins or Carr?

I say a 65%/35% run-pass ratio of running the ball is good.
Deek needs to be reigned in since we are stuck with him in 2023.

But how?
Holla and brings me a dollah!
Just one point I have to note- the "How do the coaches minimize our JAG's INTs?" line.

Dak has not had problems with too many INTs except for this past season. His int % was nearly double his career average, in years past INTs have not been an issue. Remember Zeke had 6 fumbles a couple of seasons ago and everybody was calling him a "fumbler", yet in the next two years (admittedly with less carries) he had a grand total of 2. He fixed the problem.

Dak's 15 ints may have been an aberration, and he might not have near that many this year. Can we at least wait and see if he, MM and others can fix that problem?

LOL.. you comparing a rookie in a chaotic situation with Urban Meter as HC, to a guy going in his 8th year and had the best OL and RB and stability in the league? What did Dak do in his second year when Zeke was suspended?

You Dak-fans and your analogies are hilarious..

You have to put some of it on the WRs last season. They looked like they were playing volleyball. The one to Noah Brown that hit him in the hands cost us a game in OT. That being said some of the mistakes Dak made were inexcusable. He’ll make a great throw then turn around and make one that makes you scratch your head. The most troubling thing last season was his inconsistency.
I did.

Nope. It has to happen first. Then we can see that he "fixed it".

I just love what CouchCoach did there. Just goes to show you have to be very careful HOW you say things.

A balanced attack is fine.
But what do you do with a JAG QB who is an interception leader?
Surely some allowance for dak seems in order.
You predicted the Cowboys wouldn’t reach 8 wins so what do you know? Obviously nothing.

Doesn’t need to be “reined in”. He needs a good play caller….with a good playbook.
you don't understand. he is trying to set up to explode if we don't win the superbowl. anything short of that is going to be total Bash Dak explosion. next he is going to make half the team into probowlers and nominate 12 for future HOF and announce 7 are all pros.

and subsequently, if by chance we win the superbowl, then he will say, anybody could have won with that level of talent, why did we pay 40M a year if a guy off the street would have done just as good.

gauarnteed.

65/35? Cowboys would win 5 games with that run pass ratio…
he says that on purpose. he is troll. he wants reaction and he gets it. anything Dak related gets reactions on this board as you know. he knows that ratio is utterly the most stupid thing anyone could say....but he says it anyway...troll!

The problem with Dak is always gonna be that he is paid like a QB who can carry us but the reality is we need a team that can carry him.

We can win 3 of 4 games with a below average QB like Cooper Rush with the team we already have.
have you seen the top 12 QB salaries. this continous whining about salary is just not working out any longer. you have to find a different angle to whine.

while you think of something else to whine about, I will run out and get you some cheese for that whine

The truth is Dak has 65 int's in 97 games in regular season games and in 6 playoff games he has 5.

For his career he has a TD/INT 166–65 ratio.

Does that sound like the definition of a interception leader to you?
they only look at the stats for the year that suits their argument. if Dak throws 10 interceptions next year, they will point to this season that he is an interception machine. its like selective memory or something

The pass he threw...after throwing the exact same pass that should have been intercepted...for an interception...

is baffling. He wants to be known for "accuracy" and completion percentage? While we blame WRs for deflections?

Not saying it's all on him...but...baffling really.
I agree, that interception in overtime against Jags was all on dak. if he would have thrown it 3/4 inch lower and about 1.5 inch to the left, then it wouldn't be intercepted. I tell ya...that one gets to me every time

we had the best OL? really. how?

the eagles had the best OL in the league. I take their OL over ours any 8 days of the week.

come on dude, even for you that's a HUGE stretch. its border line lying.
no, its actually lying

and what did Dak do in 2017? with the likes of Terrence Williams, Ryan Switzer, Noah Brown and Beasley as his recieving corp... missing Smith and Zeke. he went 9-7...yeah. smoke that in your pipe
