This was first season in 3 years I felt hope starting to come back

Honestly, this was the first season in 3 years where I felt actual hope starting to come back. And that's been bashed into the ground. I hated the feeling of not looking forward to a season. I hated the feeling that we had no shot. And this offseason actually gave me hope. We actually seemed to be doing things a better way. But no. Nothing changes. Just spirals down the toilet.

I genuinely don't know what to do. I'm a diehard fan. I genuinely love the Cowboys. But, at the same time, it's hard knowing that this team just doesn't have what it takes.
Hope, it’s a wonderful thing
Sometimes people mistake it for being delusional
And they’re too totally different things

Stop caring so much. Watch let go on to the next ball game. Be a cornerback mentality. I hear you though
For fans that remember Super Bowls and suffered for 31 years, it's getting tougher and tougher to let go and move on.

I actually envy the younger fans that have not had to wait this long. Hope is disappearing for many of us.

So many bought the hype. Drank the kool-aid. Happens every year.

This is the experience of cowboys fans in their early to mid thirties. A lifetime of mediocrity and softness.

It is not completely our fault. We have a huge media machine that makes us feel this way. Parker was going to be a defensive genius for us if you remember that is what we were told that and Cowboys made all the right decisions this year in coaching hiring. Looks like all of that was not true.
All the hype with Parker was a joke. He was a passing coordinator. No DC experience. So many people were anointing him as the next great dc before his first game.

I’m shocked at how bad Parker is. They are giving up huge plays like when Nolan was here.

The coaching is just pathetic and it’s all on Jerry. This is why I hate the guy and constantly bad mouth him.

They needed to be this aggressive with personnel when they had semi real coaches here during the MM/Quinn period, then maybe it could have worked.

Not knowing what to do and when is another Jones speciality.

Thing is…..they could win the whole thing and still no one would consider Jerry Jones some master football guy. He has already cemented his legacy, has a chance to save a little face, but won’t. The ego isn’t open to it.

Honestly, I'm wondering how much is the coaching (especially with Parker) and how much is the players? The players just don't seem to care. On that 70 yard run, the blitz got there, but nobody seemed to want to make the tackle. We have players that are just there to collect payment. The effort last night was horrendous.

Me too. As I said on another thread, FIFTY FREAKIN YEARS. Once JJ fired Jimmy and really started "managing" the team, it's been one disaster after another. He utterly wasted a great QB in Romo. I see absolutely nothing that can be done. And to make matters worse, look at another perpetual loser, the Chargers: they brought in a supposedly great coach and they're as horrible as ever. Some franchises are cursed---yet even the crappy Falcons, Saints, Bears, and Cardinals have been to a Super Bowl more recently than Dallas has. I've just given up on this useless team and its blockheaded owner.

I'm only 33 lol. But yeah, the biggest problem is that Jerry wants to win his way, or no way at all. If Jerry cared about winning, he'd hire a real coach like Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Sean McDermott, or someone along those lines and let them buy the groceries. But he won't because he wants the glory.

Hope, for any Cowboys fan, can now only come in the form of your age. Are you young enough where you will outlive Jerry and get to see whatever the next chapter for the Cowboys becomes? That's it, that's the only hope. The Jerry chapter of Cowboys history is 100 percent hopeless and will always remain so for as long as he sits up in that box and wears that stupid smug grin and ruins everything.

What about Stephen? And his son probably?

Same here

Same here Rusty. As a fan I am mentally exhausted and checked out. Yes, I will still watch. But I feel my emotional commitment to this slipping away.

I wish it was that simple. I'm not as angry, I suppose, as id have been a few years ago, but I'm still furious. I'm especially fuming at our offense.

Jerrys been selling snake oil and duping folks longer than many of us been alive. This year was no different. Don't feel bad for having hope, as many have been fooled by JJ.

Well, it seems that 31 fanbases are allowed to be hopeful. But if a Cowboys fan ever feels anything resembling hope, it's "There's that delusional Cowboys fan". It's like, I'm sorry, but this is my favourite team. I'm allowed to cheer on and be a fan of this team as much as anyone else has a right to be a fan of the other 31 teams. It's crazy how we Cowboys fans are targeted more than other fanbases. Last night wouldn't be so bad if most of the country wasn't enjoying our misery
