This won't win me any friends but, still, it has to be said

It's not going to kill you to listen to somebody complain about it.

I don't really care either way. However, I do think it's funny that there is an awareness month for what has to be the most well known cancers out there. Odds are if some chick isn't getting checked, it isn't because she isn't aware of it. You could at least pick a cause that hasn't had near universal acceptance for a decade now.

Tell ya what, go out and pick your own cause. Then, you can spout any damn thing you want.

the Broncos needed more pink on their ugly throwback uniforms

and speaking of breasts, why don't the cheerleaders wear pink?

Finally, an opinion worth reading.

Maybe not, but maybe. Both my daughters watched the game this Sunday. My youngest watched in her brand new Witten Jearsey and specifically asked my wife why some of the players were wearing pink. My wife explained it to her. You can't tell me that it doesn't have a benefical effect cause I saw it myself.

:)

then i stand corrected....

Thx for speaking up. There is something to be said about the integrity of the NFL and our team.

There has gotta be a better way. And I have contributed before to the race for the cure and will continue and will keep that great organization in my thoughts.

Just saying . . . .

Wearing pink accents dilutes the integrity of the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys? Are you kidding?

i agree...but somehow i dont think any women are watching a NFL game and saying ...."that guy is wearing pink cleats maybe i should get a mammogram"

Maybe not, maybe so but their husbands, brothers, sons, uncles and so on are watching and remembering their daughters, wives, nieces, grandchildren, sisters, etc may be in danger and may actually be vocal and them taking care of themselves.

i would also add that in another thread last week complaining about the pink,
Adam correctly pointed out that the pink items worn are going to be auctioned off to raise money.

I don't have a problem with this one. I do find some aspects of it humorous as I mentioned in my previous post, mostly due to the idea of having an awareness month for something that is very well known. You, however, seem to have a problem with people that do not like it.

Breast Cancer Awarness for a month. It aint gonna kill the NFL to support it for 4 weeks and it sure as hell aint gonna kill any of you to watch.

I don't have a problem with it.

neither do I. There are far worse thing than worrying about this. For instance, Wade is on the sidelines every game. That has to be markedly worse than dealing with pink for just a month.

Thanks to all and for your varying opinions. I guess some things can be discussed here on a relatively civil way. Though the day is young . . . .

I have a feeling anyone who has been touched by this disease would disagree with the OP.

I agree on the "what about all the other diseases" thing

Why should we remember 9/11 when innocent people die everyday?

Yeah, I got a lot of bad looks when I said this on 9/11.

That's right. I see no good reason not to support a good cause. The entire nation is supporting Breast Cancer Awarness this month. I guess we could be supporting some other obscure disease but then, what do we do with the Breast Cancer Victoms? Good Lord, this is rediculous. 1 in 8 women will have Breast Cancer in their life time. Do the math, this isn't just about making people aware. It's about raising money for the cause and continued funding for programs to help find a cure.

It's pretty simple, if you don't like the pink, then I guess you can go and try to have the NFL change to save the cause of your choice. Of course, you can also just stop watching the NFL until this whole thing is over.

Do what you want to do but complaining about good work towards a needed cause is beyond my scope of understanding.

I mentioned this in another thread, and every acted like I farted in church.

It's the phenomenon known as internet indignation where people get all indignant because someone else says what you are thinking and you feel shame for thinking it so you lash out at the person who said it.

Perhaps not. But what some woman might think is "Hey the NFL sure is making a big deal about this breast cancer awareness thing. Maybe it's important. Maybe I should do something."

That's the "awareness" part.

I don't think the OP had any problem recognizing "Breast Cancer Awareness", he was just saying that since they have done this, in the future the NFL may be obligated to do the same for other worthy causes.

Why not cancer awareness in general?

Would it be red gloves for heart disease?

What color for ED?

They could have decorated the stadiums in pink with the same results.

I don't really care either way, I can see both sides.

Yeah, I got a lot of bad looks when I said this on 9/11.

I remember Cris Collinsworth on US Thanksgiving that year saying that there are a lot of people who have an empty chair at dinner because of that day and he is thinking of those people. I thought what about those who had someone die Sept 10 or 12? Don't they count?

Kindly reread the original post.
A good cause but don't infringe on the game.
A good cause but how does the NFL pick one out of 100?
A good cause but it makes the refs, players and coaches look so odd.

The purpose is not to denigrade but to ask why.
It's easy to stake out the popular opinion and it's easy to attack based on assumptions.
So re-read it.
