This year's running game is better

The 300 carries vs. 20 carries argument is ridiculous.

Yes, you are correct, it is ridiculous..that is the exact point I was making.

The only difference is what happens 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage, where there are more defenders present than last year, because there is no passing threat beyond 10 yards.

Yes, that is a BIG difference. By omitting those stats out it makes it look like this years run game is better when in fact it clearly is not. This is manipulation of stats to try and make some kind of outlandish proclamation.

And no, I'm not in the minority, for what it's worth.

Yes, you are in the minority saying that this years run game is better than last years run game. Also, teams last year literally feared our run game and had a very hard time stopping it.. THAT is what opened up the passing game. THAT is what caused Tony to have his best year ever. He had 100 less passing attempts.. why? Because our run game dominated.

Listen, I get the point you are "trying" to make but I just disagree with you. It's almost insulting for a fan to say this years run game was better than last year. Last year was a very special year and a big reason for that WAS the run game.

We were 2nd last year and now we are 10th and falling after that 30 yard gem against CAR.

YPG is down
YPC is down
TDs are down

There isn't enough lipstick in Texas to put on this pig.

Agreed. I would say one of the big reasons we are even 10th right now is because we do have such solid oline but I don't see that holding up. This team is very close to quit mode. I hope we don't eeek out any miracle wins from here on out...because our team has nothing to play for right now. I'm looking forward to a top 5 draft pick. Although if Jerry doesn't leave this team soon, that draft pick will have a wasted career.

Being average didn't help.

No it probably didn't help, but having Murray on this squad wouldn't have made a lick of difference.

The injuries to Romo/Dez, the handling of the backup QB situation and the thing that should get more press and doesn't– the historic lack of turnovers on defense ruined the season. Having a back on hand who's making $8 mil a year wouldn't have made any difference.

There is no question we were a better team with Murray on it. That shouldn't even be a question to anyone. You can try to discount the money but talent wise Murray is better than anyone who carried the ball for us this year and he was the perfect back for our team.

The difference he would have made would have been minimal.

And I've seen nothing from him at Philly to indicate otherwise.

Last year was a "magic" season.

And that magic is gone... poof.

It wasn't magic. It was a talented RB behind a talented OL that worked perfectly together.

You can stand on your opinion as a fact that it wouldn't matter but we will never know.

We do know we went 0-7 when Romo went down and lost 5 close games. Maybe Murray makes the difference in a couple of those games.

Either way, counting on an immature backup like Randle and a never was like McFadden was just plain stupid.

Randle wasn't a gem. McFadden's been decent.

The running game being a problem ranks well down on the list of season problems.

Let it go BK.

That's the thing we will never know. I think he may have helped Cassel. I would rather have found out if Murray could than any other back we have now.

Wouldn't have made this season into a success.

As a matter of fact right now it would have hurt, because no back in the history of the NFL was going to make this into a playoff team... And just getting to 7-9 wasn't going to be helpful when it came to building the team for next year.

Well there is that.:)

There is nothing to let go.

We were a better with Murray. Period.

You are the one that can't admit that one little fact.

Explain why we're better in short yardage and 10+ yard runs, and better in TOP, but only worse in 5-10 yard runs.

I'll hang up and listen. ;)

Having #29 in Dallas in '15 wouldn't have made this team a success.

Period.

I don't know the answer and don't even want to speculate. All I know is last year we had a much better running game than this year. Not really worth debating it even though we don't have much else to do with this season in shambles.
