I don't know if Cowher has it any more. He's been away from the game for awhile. I know that I wanted him in Dallas for quite awhile. I don't think he was underrated as a coach though. I always thought that Shanahan was. Except for 2 years when he had Elway and Davis, I don't know what he ever did. He sure wasn't anything after they left.

I feel Cowher is overrated and benefited from a great defensive mind.

I think he is slightly better then Shanahan, but like us, their organization is rotten from the inside. this won't do much.

This will be interesting. It is a fit, since D.C. is not far from Cowher's home in North Carolina.

The control factor will be key as Cowher wants to bring people with him that he is familiar with from Pittsburgh, especially in the front office (Omar Khan for example as a Director of Operations). Makes me wonder where Allen fits into all of this.

I could see Cowher working out a pretty strong agreement to run the show with Allen's help. However, he will not obtain an ironclad assurance that Snyder will stop his other forms of meddling - e.g., coddling RG3 and other favorite players...

I say this, first I don't like some things Jason Garrett has done, saying that, I have always wanted Jason as head coach. However, this is what I believe, this will be Jason's 4th year, and even Jason admitted at times, he had to learn some things, and you will benefit from them like Jerry said. Even Jimmy Johnson has to learn some things his first 2 years. If some of you remember, even Tom Landry who I loved, had to learn things, heck even Landry cried in front of the team once. If the Cowboys and Jason do break through in 2014, then maybe this all is worth it. You never know, on top of that, in Jerry Jones interview today, Jerry was asked about Jason's last yr on his contract in 2014. Jerry didn't budge on that, which generally by the 4th year, either a head coach makes it or he doesn't with his system, way he wants to run things. We all know Jerry isn't going to budge on his beliefs, so might as well ride it out, see what happens.

Finally, to me, only way to fix this issue and the Cowboys is this. Create cap room, about 15 million if possible, go get 2 to 3 really good players, at least 2 of them that have played for a super bowl team and were dominant. Why am I saying this: look at the Cowboys history:
In 1969, the Cowboys signed Mike Dikta, for about 5 years from 1966 to 69 the Cowboys couldn't win the big one. Then, in 1970, the Cowboys signed Herb Adderly, as soon as Herb got here, he told the Cowboys players im going to show you why you haven't won the big one, after showing the players his superbowl ring.

In 1992, the Cowboys traded for Charles Haley and Thomas Everett, both dymantic players, and Haley had been on a super bowl team, even the great Troy Aikman said, we didn't really know how to win the big one, till Charles got here, what it really took, the swagger, the hard extra work, etc.,..

In 95, Jerry, yes Jerry Jones signed Deion Sanders, we went back to the superbowl. In 2003, after medicore years under campo, etc... Parcells came in, bill parcells immediately brought in players like Jason Ferguson, Keyshawn Johnson, Marco Riveria, and Terry Glenn, boom, Cowboys were in playoffs again. I still believe if Terry Glenn didn't get hurt in 07, the cowboys would have won that championship game against giants and at least gone to the superbowl.

If you listen to Jason Garrett, he said in his last press conference for 2013, we need to keep taking the next step, moving forward. To move forward in my estimation for the Cowboys they need to get some players in here, that were leaders on superbowl teams, show the players on cowboys roster what it takes. Go back and listen to what demarcus ware said after the eagles game, he said something like don't know what its going to take to finish, we have been knocking on the door to get into the playoffs for past 3 years. If supposedly the leader of your defense says that, then who is really leading the defense on the field and knows for sure, the past is over with, those losing days are over with?

Between Chip in Philadelphia and DC at the skins...Jerry will get us killed the next 3 years and panic. ..The hire Jimmy back in 2018...Jimmy will drink beer and laugh at Jerry for 3 years...basically doing nothing and win us 1 division title and a quick exit from the playoffs and still do better than JG...lol

It's to the point now where we can safely say we'd rather have Dan Snyder.

I know. I know. He's no prize but he's better than the one we're saddled with. At least he's kind of trying to win at all cost.

OMG!!! Do you ever stop? You're like a broken record. Dude, please go follow another team. Geez!!! Smh!!!

If they go and get a young hungry guy like Bowles, I would be more concerned.

Young and hungry doesn't always equal success. Raheem Morris comes to mind. Cowher will turn the Commanders into a team similar to the 49ers. Just watch.

I think he'll have trouble duplicating his success in Pittsburgh. No question about it.

tried and trued also doesn't always work. they already did that with Gibbsv2.0 and Shanahan.

Snyder is not their GM right?

He is already smarter than Jerry if the answer is yes.

Bruce Allen is but I'm sure he meddles. Shanahan's a good coach. He may not be perfect but he's far better than what the team looked like this year. There's a reason.

Still, I would take an owner meddling with a GM at times over what we have in Dallas.

If We were 24-40 and in last place every year but one, our idiot in charge would again swing for the fences to placate the fan base. he wouldn't actually change his stripes, just cover them.

Doubtful. He did that once since Jimmy left. Well now he doesn't need the support for a new stadium and doesn't have the incentive to do so.
No doubt he'd make a HC change. But to swing for the fences like Snyder has and give the prominent HC power over his entire coaching staff and even personnel? I'll believe it from Jerry when I see it.

he is in for a shock with how the media operates as well. The Steelers are kind of like the Packers in how they are treated in their home town.

yes, he did it once. the one time we were constantly finishing last.

If that happens again, he will again pretend to admit he is clueless and temporarily hand the keys over.
