Well, when was the Atlanta Olympics held? You want hot, Atlanta with it's extreme humidity is HOT!

I have to agree with this, if they put the olympics here in late july, there will be attendance problems because of the heat.

Humidity is not a problem here. The sun and the hot blowing air is. This is why the rangers have problems drawing fans in the summer. I cant imagine a good attendance turnout for the olympics here.

I guess people would travel here from all over to fill the stands but as stated above, they would have to drive from fort worth, Dallas and the grapevine area where all the hotels are.

I would go to the soccer, I wouldnt mind the drive, I dont ever remember it taking me two hours from arlington to frisco, that seems very extreme to me. Can do it in less than an hour.

So, by what I see from this the transportation problems are not access road related, so much as they are vehicles designated to make the trips.

HA! Road related? I'm guessing you've never been to Dallas. On top of that you've never heard the stories people tell about their first visit to Dallas or Texas for that matter!

They call it. The land of Concert and Asphalt. (a pun on the Land of Milk and Honey) Or Everything is BIGGER in Texas. Texas has more (and bigger) highways than any state.

Here are some Texas highway statistics listed in miles:
  1. Centerline miles: 79,535
  2. Interstate Highways (IH): 3,233
  3. US Highways (US): 12,102
  4. State Highways (SH): 16,199
  5. Farm to Market Roads (FM, RM, UR): 40,985
  6. Longest state highway: US 83, 899 miles.
  7. Shortest state highway: Loop 168, Tenaha. 0.074 miles or approximately 391 feet.

Texas is going to build a Super Highway. It will consist of six lanes for cars, four lanes for trucks, oil and gas pipelines, rail lines, other utility lines, and even broadband transmission cables. It will be close to a quarter of a mile wide and be about 4,000 miles long. It will cost around $175-$180 billion dollars over 50 years to build.

Now, that makes the Cowboys new stadium look like a sand castle! :laugh2:

Not even close to as hot as Dallas is in Summer.

I beleive this last year we had upwards of 20 straight days of 100+ temperature, and that was actual temp, our heat indexes got and get up into the 110-120 mark. We had 43 days of 100+ degree days this past summer.....in 1998 we had 56 days. in 80 we had 69 days.

You all remember the preseason game in Dallas this past August when the on field tempertature was 125 degrees and it was 7 pm.

I've lived in that part of the country for about 2 years (Atlanta area) and believe me, their "hot" is nothing compared to here.

It can take two hours depending on the day and time. They were doing a lot of construction on this route (Arlington to Frisco) last time I was there. (I used to live in Coppell) The new tollway extention they added from 183 to I35 that cuts accross 114 and 635 helps a lot. (The George Bush Tollway) They were expanding 121 from Coppell to the Colony which will also help, but that traffic around that area could be horrible at times. Just going from Coppell to the Colony (before Frisco) could take 45 minutes when traffic was bad. I'm not sure what it's like now. They should be done at least almost done with 121's expansion over I35 north of Dallas by now. If you are coming out of Arlington and you try to use 360. I feel for you! hah. I would take Industrial to 183 most of the time. Even that got nasty at times.
