Davis is better but bet they don’t care. Davis and dowdle probably both better than zeke. I’m keeping 4rb. Can Davis play special teams?
I can't find the tweet right now, but Davis said his favorite play of the game was the ST block he made that helped open the lane for one of Turpin Time's KO TD. He took the defender out to open the middle lane

Having watched pretty much every snap of his college career I can tell you that in addition to being a willing blocker on special teams Davis is really good receiver out of the backfield. When he was playing with Kyle Trask it was not unusual for them to send him on deep routes because of his speed, hands and route running. He's a good all around back.. just a rookie with a learning curve.

Dowdle also plays special teams. I agree, this will be a close battle for that final 3rd RB spot. Maybe the unknown in Davis being a first year player helps him in such a close competition with Dowdle, who has been with the team for 2 years already.

They had Davis return a few kicks last night. And did not look too bad. He is a nice option to Turpin if / when needed. I don't think Dowdle can do PR or KR.
So that is something to keep in mind.

Dowdle did look better last night than he did the previous week. However, that was also his first game in a year.
It will be close. They will split carries for sure next game.

I liked Shampklin also, but he is heading for the PS possibly.

Didn't Dowdle have like a 70+ yard KO return against the Vikings back in 2020? I think he is still not all the way back from the hip and knee injuries so his long speed may be gone but I do think he can handle KOR duties in a pinch.

I looked it up.. it was a 64 yarder against the Steelers that year ... He was out in front and should have scored but ran out of gas and got tracked down..

I'm really liking him more and more, he plays a lot bigger than he is. He's physical at the point of attack, fights for those extra yards, but he's got some wiggle to him. He made a beautiful jump cut last night, turned a 1 yd gain into a nice 10-12yd chunk, but of course we had a penalty on the play....:(

The last RB the Cowboys drafted from the University of Florida turned out to be pretty good.
The Cowboys hopefully don't settle for just average RBs. There is still a great thing to have elite RBs and that is Bjian Robinson from Texas.
The Cowboys are at their best when they have great RBs.

I like Shampkin the most, and I think he can make it to the PS so that's awesome.

Zeke
TP
Dowdle
Davis

PS: Shampkin
I say they keep all the RBs.

It's Shampklin.. and he's from my alma mater so I am duty bound to root for him.. He looks tiny out there compared to the other backs though.. 4.5 40 with a 37 inch vert though.. so there's some physical talent there too work with..

Interesting battle for the #3 RB. Thought Davis was the best back last night, kind of reminded me of Phillip Tanner. He also had a good kickoff return. Dowdle played well, but there seems to be more juice from Davis thus far.
I don’t see Dowdle as favorably as some here. I haven’t seen anything special so far from him. This might be Darren Hambrick Syndrome at its finest.

Third back to keep is gonna be a tough decision.
Hope we can stash one on the PS.
This shows why you don't draft RBs high nor give them big second contracts.

Near the goal line there’s no quit in him he lowers his shoulder and drives defender back. Can catch out of the backfield . Like him as 3rd back question with KM will he and MM call his # ?
