For me Dowdle isn't even in the running. It's between Davis and Shampkin with Davis in the lead. He runs between the tackle and finishes runs.
Dowdle isn't good enough for the NFL. Phillip Tanner clone.

still i think Dowdle for one is more consistent and for two has done it in the regular's season and 3 hes starts the games when the better players are on the field..

good problem to have but Dowdle the most NFL ready and most likely wins the job..they could go long at RB by not carrying a FB...i like all 3 young backs but again Dowdle the 3 for me right now..
And the better blockers are on the field too …

Interesting battle for the #3 RB. Thought Davis was the best back last night, kind of reminded me of Phillip Tanner. He also had a good kickoff return. Dowdle played well, but there seems to be more juice from Davis thus far.
I would say Davis has looked better in both games. It's a little hard to know if we can judge fairly with so many backups and guys who may not even make the roster playing, but Davis has looked faster and stronger.

The things to like about Davis is that he seems to have good vision and a feel for weaving through traffic. He also shows a little pop and the ability to spin and twist for extra yardage. He and all of our backs have benefited from some good run blocking, but he seems to make a little more out of what's there than Dowdle and Shampklin.

Hard to judge against backups and scrubs

I like Davis, by a fairly large margin, over Dowdle and Shampklin, as far as just a runner. The guy has good speed, runs tough, and most importantly to me… he has real nice vision.

However, I’m not going to pretend to know how he is without the ball in his hands. I’m not sure on how he is picking up blitzing defenders or how he is on special teams. How is he in the classroom? Does he know his assignments?

So I’ll leave it up to the team to pick their RB3.

If he is good on all that, then Davis would be a pretty easy choice for me as the RB3. I like the way he runs better than the other two.
I feel same way , he seemed to have good vision last week too.
But i dont think cowboys keep him, they will keep dowdle as
#3.
The order they get on the field usually tells that those guys will keep their spots.
Rush looks like he will get the # 2 qb and dowdle will get the #3 rb spot.

Think he has better vision then Dowdle, who appears to run outside where the hole is

Too many guys here are looking at it the wrong way. We are looking for a core special teams player that can do a job at RB, not the other way around.
He's made some ST plays, he had a nice block to open the lane for Turpin Time

"It's safe to assume Dowdle, who is entering his third year in the system, has done enough to this point to warrant remaining the third back on the roster, but it's also true that Davis' numbers and ceiling can't be ignored - e.g., 5.5 yards per carry and six yards per reception (qualifier: minimum five targets) - and there's another attribute the latter has shown in recent games: his ability to be disruptive on special teams.

Davis had more than one noticeable play on special teams against the Chargers, and that puts him on the radar of special teams coordinator John "Bones" Fassel as much as his ability as a halfback makes him a blinking red dot on the grid of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore."

Agreed. There have been a few opportunities I didn't think Dowdle made the best of, even though he's been very good. It seems to me that Davis has made all the right choices, but I could be forgetting a bad one or two because of the good ones he's made.

Davis definitely has looked a little better, but would like to see him play more in the 1st half against better competition.

I think Davis is the new starter in 2023 if he continues his trajectory. Pollard will get paid somewhere else. Zeke will stay but be relegated to a nice back up. I think Rico might get traded if Davis is what we think he can be.
