Can't say I'm seeing such extreme flaws as others. If anything, from that video, Dak looks like he is a really nice, high release point and a quick release. He is also built really well. Combine that with his intangibles and the fact that he got better every year in college (66% compl. rate. his senior year), I think you really have something to work with there.

It was mentioned when they drafted him that they would tighten up his throwing motion and work on his footwork.

Yes, he needs some refinement, but I wouldn't describe his throwing motion as "poor." Especially when you compare it to someone like Tebow.

Pro style offenses are rare in college these days and just because they have a qb in it doesn't mean the guy has enough talent for the nfl.

They wanted to draft Conner Cook, who has run s pro style offense. I think Dak was their last option. I had not read about any other teams having interest in Dak, so they probably knew he could be there later.

Valid point.

Yep Prescott's mechanics are going to have to be sorted... But Romo's had to be also.

I think he has all the athleticism for the position.

It will come down to how quickly he can pick up the nuances of reading a defense. Seems like a bright kid, so there's hope there.

I'm not counting on the kid becoming a "Romo" but if he gave the Cowboys what Tyrod Taylor gave the Bills last season (20TD/6 picks), and he was a 6th round pick... Well given a strong running game and hopefully by that time (2018) a better defense, then the Cowboys could at least be strong playoff contenders.

I had rather see Dak as a solid backup QB and have Dallas draft a top QB prospect. I think a career backup is his ceiling and there is nothing wrong with that out of a late 4th round pick. If he could be the type that gives the team a chance while filling in, the pick would be worth it.

Denver was interested in Dak, but they had already taken Lynch.

I know Houston was interested from that leaked text message

I don't disagree.

As we've found out moving up in the draft to take a top guy is essentially gutting your draft for a couple years. It's a big risk either way.

That being said the team will know a lot more about Dak's capability after a this season.

If they believe he's "the guy" then I do not expect them to pursue a QB in the draft next April.

I wouldn't worry about a former basketball players coordination.

I think this is true until you get up to guys that are like 6' 5" or taller... (Gathers is 6' 8").
Some guys are 'basketball players' at that point, by default, simply because of height.

Romo completely overhauled his throwing motion once he got to the NFL. It worked out okay for him. It's not automatically a bad thing. It just means he'll need a bit more seasoning before he's ready, but that's fine. We still have Romo here. There's no hurry.

Stop bringing facts into it.

...and don't forget Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton.
