no.they actually played to his strength, a novel concept during the Garrett Era .

There's merit to what you posted.

But also the Weeden attempted very few passes for the Texans... I'm too lazy to look it up again but was only like 42 pass attempts over two games. They didn't ask a lot of the guy. Plus the Texans had the Texan's defense and Hopkins was killing it at WR. Certainly a different situation than what was going in Dallas for Weeden, Cassel or Moore.

Rico is a ridiculously large individual. If he can figure football out and play TE effectively. Whoa. Teams will have to start drafting basketball players as safeties.

Well, all I know is, for not really wanting Dallas to draft Dak...I'm SOOOOOO glad we didn't end up with Conner Cook (Bo Calahan in the flesh).

After the 1st round every QB is developmental. Give me a QB with good work ethic, brains, leadership ability, etc. any day of the week over someone who might need a little less work. Though can I ask, how does an SEC QB with such bad mechanics put up better stats than a Big 10 QB that many are complaining that we didn't draft almost 2 rounds earlier. How was he able to put up such a high completion % in such a tough conference then go on to be the Senior Bowl MVP if he is so bad?

Valid point.

Yep Prescott's mechanics are going to have to be sorted... But Romo's had to be also.

I think he has all the athleticism for the position.

It will come down to how quickly he can pick up the nuances of reading a defense. Seems like a bright kid, so there's hope there.

I'm not counting on the kid becoming a "Romo" but if he gave the Cowboys what Tyrod Taylor gave the Bills last season (20TD/6 picks), and he was a 6th round pick... Well given a strong running game and hopefully by that time (2018) a better defense, then the Cowboys could at least be strong playoff contenders.

Yes I agree, just watching Zeke go through simple drills like what they were doing, his movements look so natural. The kid is super talented. Can't wait to see him run behind our wall.

Dak looks like he has some potential, don't know if he will ever be an NFL starter but he could turn into a very good backup for us.

And I agree about the throwing mechanics, it is very poor for an NFL QB................that is why I think he is 3rd string this year behind Moore.

The odds of Wade Wilson correcting Daks footwork is close to zero.

Sherrington: Why Wade Wilson is not to blame for Cowboys' failure to develop QBs

And? So what? What does this have to do with Aikman or Walsh?

Who's the running back wearing #43. He's a lot bigger than the others.
Good size. Look powerful in the blocking drills.

Don't forget the one game Weeden started and won the Texans defense outscored their opponent.

He was 26 for 42 (62%) and 3 TD's and a 108 passer rating. Pretty decent numbers. Of course, he also had a pretty high passer rating with us, too. As far as the game "he won", it was against the Titans - easily the worst team in the NFL last year, and by that game, arguably one of the worst teams of all time. They had nothing that day. Mariota was out. The offense couldn't generate anything. The Texans repeatedly got the ball in Titans territory. For all of Weeden's supposed brilliance in that game, he still only threw for 200 yards, and a good chunk of that was basically throwing it up and letting Hopkins (top 5 WR) go get it. So why didn't we just do that here? Well, who was he just going to throw the ball up to? He never had Dez. TW? Beasley? Street?

for the sake of a different line of thinking, at what point is it on the player? How do we know he hasn't given these young QBs all of the tools and teaching they need to succeed and they just haven't gotten it because they aren't good/smart enough?
Oh, I agree. But if (a) it's not working and (b) the coach has no clear track record of success, why wouldn't you try something (or someone) different? Now, I have no idea how they evaluate QB coaches--maybe he is the greatest QB coach in the world but he's given hopeless cases to work with--but I do wonder what exactly they see in him.

So this is where Dak Prescott is starting from. I realize the rush to judgment is great and all but I don't think it was Wilson's fault that McGee panicked and bailed out of the pocket for those asinine rollouts over and again. Romo has gotten better not worse about reading defenses and decisionmaking; it's his health that has deteriorated.

I am interested to see how Prescott looks in training camp to compare.

I have high hopes for Rico. Dude is a monster and if he develops his skills, he'll be a nightmare for defenders.

I can't wait to see what he can do. Call me crazy, but I think he's going to end up being the second best pick of our draft class.

Crazy

No he didn't. Romo had an outstanding throwing motion when he got here. You don't change someone's mechanics significantly at this point, they can either throw the ball with accuracy or they can't. It was fun to hear about Tim Tebow throwing tens of thousands of passes to correct his throwing motion only to watch him revert back to his old form after about, oh, two passes.

This is a joke. This guy is supposed to be learning the nuances of reading defenses and being a competent field manager and we're gonna waste time teaching this guy how to throw a football properly. Call me crazy, but I think if you draft a QB, he should know how to throw a football already. This guy's motion SUCKS, which means no ability to throw with accuracy repeatedly. A nice throw followed by an erratic throw. Awesome.

Watch Aaron Rodgers college tape.

It's like this...
a good QB coach can make a good QB better, but a bad QB is going to be a bad QB regardless of coaching. You pretty much either have 'it' or you don't, as a starting point. No quarterback coach is going to make a winner out of a bum. A good player could get along without any qb coach, really. Quarterbacking is about SOO MUCH MORE than throwing motion or arm strength, etc. That's why Chad Hutchinson and Brandon Weeden and Drew Henson and many others fail... they can throw better, faster, harder, further than Romo... but they lack the decision-making, leadership, tenacity, character, awareness, 'moxie', coordination, mobility- the things that can not be taught. The things that really make Romo a great QB. Thank your lucky stars, and careful what you wish for, when it comes to the quarterback position.

Who is #43. He's pretty good sized running back. I'm gonna root for him to make the practice squad.

Can't say I'm seeing such extreme flaws as others. If anything, from that video, Dak looks like he is a really nice, high release point and a quick release. He is also built really well. Combine that with his intangibles and the fact that he got better every year in college (66% compl. rate. his senior year), I think you really have something to work with there.
