I’m not sure why they went out and got Schoonmaker. Fergs is fully capable of being the #1 TE. The kid is pretty darn good and feisty.
Ferguson is legit. I’ve been saying since the day he was drafted that he at minimum is the equal of Schultz in terms of being a receiver. He’s already a much better blocker.

Schoonmaker is a 4th/5th round talent IMO. He was an overspend for a guy that will likely be TE2.

I saw more than enough to give these RBs a legitimate opportunity and end any talk of bringing Zeke back. Time to put the final nail in that coffin.

When cuts start we need to snag some O-Line depth. There will be descent players available.

Thanks for the rundown. Couldn't catch the game here in Denver and also could not find a stream.

Sounds like everything is pretty much on schedule. Really excited about the quality that the LB unit is showing. I thought that group would be an issue, but it seems like they could be a strength.

He missed 5 kicks last year. He’s not ideal but he can make clutch kicks. This is ridiculous we are in this position year after year.
How do his kickoffs compare to Aubrey?

Hey Jacksonville, I’ll give you a Rush for a Rourke. I’ll even throw in a Ball and a Waletzko to sweeten the pot.

Pre-season games in general and the first one in particular don't mean a whole lot. This one was no exception. Good players can look like they won't be worth much, average players can look like Pro Bowlers. It's more about how the players react, how they know the formations, blocking and tackling techniques, and so forth.

I didn’t like the Schoon pick too, just a little high on what the media scouts we’re projecting, but he does have elite traits that Ferguson just doesn’t possess, we need to be a little patient as he is just returning from injury. As for Risner, Bronco fans said he was terrible, not sure he is the answer
Trust me, I am not one of the Risner groupies....but he was a name everyone was throwing around during free agency. At this point, pretty much anyone is going to come with some warts. I'd even be fine bringing Peters back. He isnt what he once was but he is still better than the backups we have.

He wasn’t done last year. He played dam well.

You don’t know if the Whiners upgraded!
I believe they drafted and traded for another. Think biggest issue is that he cannot kickoff which makes it difficult to carry multiple kickers

The Schoonmaker pick was them reaching for a perceived need with Schultz leaving. As it turns out, Ferguson looks like he is a player, Hendershot is a decent receiver, and Stephens is looking like he could be a steal. So we could have ignored the TE position and definitely drafted some OL help. But we didn't. So we need to work to find an answer. There are some vets out there that could help. Risner is still unsigned...not sure why unless he still has crazy demands. Justin Pugh posted a few months ago that he is close to being ready after suffering a knee injury early last year. We don't need a world beater, we just need someone that can come in and fill a role should we need it. None of the backup OL at this point appear ready to step in and be somewhat competent should a starter go down. And if the Martin holdout goes on into the season...it's a huge issue.
The totals of the fines Martin is facing means he has his mind made up. He will not play again unless he has a new contract.
He isn't limping back to the team the week before the season and say "Hey guys I was just kidding about the contract."
Dallas must pay him, cut him or trade him.

Every team is looking for a quality OL depth, tho k best way is to make a trade as it will be hard to claim one thru the waiver wire after the cuts

THe teams that may have some OL depth, why would they get rid of it? I'd be shocked if there are many teams that have more than 2 decent reserves.

Why? If they have needs somewhere else on their roster. Also, might like younger/cheaper players

My observations:
  • Typical ps game. No game planning, very little of the playbook shown which is as it should be.
  • Backup OL is a potential problem. A few “developmental“ guys (Ball especially) IMO need to go.
  • Deuce Vaughn showed what he’s always been- a really good football player who will make this team.
