There’s plenty of time but he’s looking a game day inactive right now. That can’t be said for any 1st round pick in a decade other than Taco.

Look what's the issue????? he's a nose tackle and he will not fill up the stat sheet and that's gonna be hard for our fans to understand ..

Everything I've seen in training camp and preseason he's doing what we've asked him to do, Be a space heating nose tackle take on two blockers or more and he's had far more positives than negatives and yes he's a rookie.

he's growing and he had a few bad plays and he can learn from but he's not our starter hankins is and he's gonna rotate probably with Hankins and big Bo and eventually he's gonna get to where we want him to get but again I've seen more positives than negatives...

what's the problem here?? this is what training camp and practice is for this is what film study it's for,

they are getting more film each week and he gets to watch himself and he gets to listen to the coaches on how he could be better getting beat by the number one teams center which we are playing a lot of teams number ones early in the game..

I mean that's not saying much of course Seattle Center got the best of him a couple of times, he'll learn from that..

No he's not he looks like our teams backup who comes in behind hankins not inactive I think he's going to play every game I think people are making a big deal out of this when the guys are rookie when everything I've seen in training camp and preseason so far he's doing what he's supposed to do and a few times he's gotten beat by a better player they literally been playing their number ones to start the game.. So 100% disagree he's not gonna be on the inactive list much they know why they drafted him in the first round even though it was nearly a second rounder he's a space eating nose tackle that's not gonna fill up the stat sheet and make fans feel like he's not doing his job because he makes mistakes well I remember a game two years ago maybe against the Rams and the regular season and we end up having over two 100 yard rushers and made Aaron Donald look like a rookie.. I think fans around here think we're not allowed to have a player make a few bad mistakes in a game but if you go look at the rest of the film like every single snap he did more good things than bad.. This is why I haven't hankins back for one more season and hopefully we keep big beau that he has time to learn but he's gonna learn under fire they didn't pick him in the first round to sit and he's done nothing to make me think he's lost out there...
The fact is we've seen hankins even though he's a starter not be able to play heavy snaps this is another reason why I'm saying he is not gonna be inactive much if at all...

Yes six weeks playing behind hankins and being active almost all the games I guarantee hankins is not an every down nose tackle, so unless they're gonna plan on playing big bo a lot, I don't believe he's going to be inactive

Mazi will learn he's played well enough that he's gonna be playing just about every game.

Is Mazi polished? No. Is he going to develop some? Yes.

The problem is that he is losing reps that he should not be losing. Not flashing is one thing, but doing the basic, but failing to do the basic fundamentals of why he was drafted is another.

For what it's worth, they drafted a player who had a playstyle that did not translate to the NFL and are trying to turn him into something, which is kind of unfair to the player.

It's only been a couple of preseason games, but I remember everyone here was fairly underwhelmed with Micah Parsons during his first preseason.

Some even said he looked lost on the field.

Now I know he was moved to DE after week 1 because of Lawrence's injury and basically played a new position, but my point is rookies need time to adjust and learn in the NFL.

Hankins will be our true run stopper this year and as the season progresses I expect Mazi to get a little better with each week.
Tony Siragusa, kept O-linemen off Ray Lewis. Job well done.

I was at the game on Saturday. Mazi looked good on the first play and pretty bad after that. The biggest thing I noticed is that he was very noticeably slow off the snap. Everyone else would be out of there stances while he was still in it.

There was one thing I wondered about during the game. He got a lot of playing time deep into the 4th quarter. When he was subbed out on passing downs, he did look more and more winded as the game progressed, so I wondered how much of a factor fatigue played. I would expect him to be dominating late into the game against 3rd string guys. He does look like a player when you see him on the sideline. Very athletic build.

I will worry about Mazi if he looks the same next year.
I would be worried if he continues to look like this all season. If he doesn’t show significant improvement as the season goes on, I don’t think he’s ever going to be the player we were hoping for. He’s going to end up being another Taco and Trysten Hill.

Regardless how bad he looks I don’t think there’s any way they’re going to make him inactive on game day. It would look real bad and the Joneses know it, plus he needs to play if he’s going to get better. The last first round pick I can remember us making inactive early their rookie season was Bobby Carpenter, and we know how he turned out.

There's a lot of examples like that add in Vince Wilfork our own hankins that are big nose tackles that are not gonna fill up a stat sheet... I think mazie's coming along just fine...

I don't expect him to be a finished product, I just want to see flashes of the strength and athleticism he is supposed to have. Maybe learning and getting comfortable will help him show that, but for now I'm not seeing it.

No one was underwhelmed with Parsons. Had HOF all over him. This is a ridiculous comparison. We are clueless in drafting DT. Nothing since Maryland. Nothing.

Everyone's always thinking worst case scenario

I don't think he's gonna end up being either one of those players,,

BTW one was a defensive end, one was a three tech, this is a nose tackle who's not going To fill up a stat sheet and I'm giving the guy three seasons,

that's what you should give players that are just drafted and I believe he's already showed enough in training camp in preseason to say he's not gonna be one of those guys...

Mazi looks like a rookie playing a position that tends to be difficult for rookies.

Not everyone is a Parsons or Martin as a rookie. I'll be worried about Mazi if he looks like this next season.

Man, I told this board when we made the pick that he'd disappoint. Sucks to be right sometimes BUT....the real games haven't begun. Maybe he's just thinking too much right now. It's been known to happen to rookies. Like another poster said, let's give him some time.

We need to stop drafting this Michigan lineman in the first round.

PS as depth maybe. I honestly dont see him getting poached
He will get poached. The NFL likes size and Bohanna is HUUUGE! Remember we didn't think that big DT we tried to get through to PS last year would get poached either but.... Curiously him being poached is directly related to why we have Mazi this year :)
